Are you risking being blown away/flying debris this morning?

No

SpaceDetective · 18/02/2022 07:11

Thinking about whether to get up, it's not that windy here yet but likely to get worse later so our best chance is now

mumofEandE · 18/02/2022 07:11

I have a springer who will get antsy if he doesn't go out, I am in bed at the mo trying to work out where we can go that is relatively treeless!
As our usual walk is too risky I think.

LemonViolet · 18/02/2022 07:13

Just about to go and do a few circuits of the small park right behind our house, we’re in the area that the red warning doesn’t come in until 10.

EdithStourton · 18/02/2022 07:17

No choice.
One has already been on lead walks only for an injury for a week, and will be insufferable if kept in.

SpaceDetective · 18/02/2022 07:24

I'm not sure I'll be able to persuade her though, she doesn't like to get up before 8.30

Aria20 · 18/02/2022 07:31

I'd like to as wind not bad here yet - red warning from 10 but it's torrential rain and she won't go out in the rain!

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2022 07:32

Mine woke me up at 6am mithering to go out as usual. He took one look at the weather and decided he didn’t actually want to go out at all. Unfortunately for him, I’m not getting up at that ridiculous hour for nothing so I made him go for our usual walk. It’s raining and getting quite blustery but will only get worse throughout the day.

He’s now asleep on the sofa in his dressing gown with his back to me!

Coffeeonmytoffee · 18/02/2022 07:34

Yes. She won’t go to the toilet in the garden. Grrrrrr!

LadyCatStark · 18/02/2022 07:36

Yes as we’re ‘only’ in an amber warning area. He loves the wind so I’ll take him to the field and let him whip himself up into a frenzy and wear off his energy while I try to huddle out of the wind! I’ve had a migraine for 2 days so he hasn’t had as much walking as he’d like so I’ll need to give him something.

AlternativePerspective · 18/02/2022 07:36

No. Mine is a guide dog so it’s not just the walk, it’s not being able to cross roads safely because I can’t hear traffic, if I take him to the park having to navigate round with a cane while he has his run, among the trees, and if I go into town etc not being able to see any potential flying objects before they hit me/us.

QuiltedHippo · 18/02/2022 07:39

Yes this morning but its only yellow warning here today, I have cancelled the dog walker later when winds are meant to be about 50mph

Ribenery · 18/02/2022 07:42

No. I took him out for a poo at about 630ish but we're inside now. It's super windy. All the local parks where I would take him are closed anyway.

ThreeB · 18/02/2022 07:44

No. Lots of inside enrichment today instead. Bertie gets antsy in the wind so this is safer all round.

BiteyShark · 18/02/2022 07:45

Probably not.

Won't walk locally as it's woods and I don't fancy a tree on my head. Looking at the weather later it gets worse so driving further out to a non woody area is probably not a good idea.

lpchill · 18/02/2022 07:50

My dog hates the wind and rain together so will have to forcefully get him out of the house to have a pee in the garden.

user468375484 · 18/02/2022 07:51

Red weather warning and local parks are shut until this afternoon. Think I'll give it a miss.

Rather like walking a French bulldog at 1pm in a heatwave.... It's not safe, but this time it's not safe for ether of us.

CiderGlider · 18/02/2022 07:52

I got up at 6am to take her out but that’s it until the weather calms down.

wetotter · 18/02/2022 07:59

We've been out for a short toilet walk already

Winds picking no up here, but worst is yet to arrive. Still deciding what to do about later on - there might be time for another short walk later this morning - there's a green open space not far away so might try that.

Otherwise it'll be hoping she'll sleep the day away and we can walk in the evening assuming the winds start to drop when they're expected to.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 18/02/2022 08:04

We're in an Amber area.

DH took ours out at 5am before the wind picks up and he won't go out again. It'll be 60-70mph winds by lunchtime and it's not worth the risk for me to take him out again.

MagentaRocks · 18/02/2022 08:06

No. In a red area. They rarely have on lead walks and my plan to take them to the beach this afternoon isn’t a good idea. I will play with them a lot at home. They are young so will tire them out a bit.

LemonViolet · 18/02/2022 08:20

Reporting back, north east London park was fine, instead of doing circuits around the edge we did zig zags across the central open grass and they had a blast running about in the wind. There were a few sticks blowing around but nothing any more serious than that but it’s picking up all the time. They’re now crashing out nicely so glad we braved it, don’t think I’d take them out any later though, still 90 mins until red warning kicks in and it’s picking up all the time. Time to batten down!

waterlego · 18/02/2022 08:41

I’m in a red warning zone. Just out with the hound now for a half hour lead walk before things kick off and then hopefully OH will take him again this eve once the worst is over.

Simonjt · 18/02/2022 08:44

We’re in a red area, when the baby woke at 4am there wasn’t any wind, so I took advantage and took the dog out for an hour and a half, the wind had started picking up a little when we got back, it hasn’t gotten bad yet, so he is on a short trot with my husband.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 18/02/2022 09:04

I carried my dog down the road to her preferred area - she will not walk in the rain - she did her business and we ran back.
Mad mad dog.
Or am I the idiot?!
