Are you risking being blown away/flying debris this morning?

I was out early to do my horses so walked her then. It was really calm about 7 so we had a blast round the fields at my yard.

I won’t walk her again today, she’s a PITA in the wind

ChurchlightJane · 18/02/2022 09:08

No. We've got the snuffle mats, games and kongs loaded up with treats. It's too risky and I think the wind probably hurts their ears.

NellyDElephant · 18/02/2022 09:15

My Manchester Terrier is still wrapped up in his blanket from overnight, won’t even entertain waking up yet, but will take one look outside and refuse to even go in garden for a wee.
So, to summarise, no! Grin can’t say I’m complaining - looks terrible outside (we are Amber area)

Inacountrygarden · 18/02/2022 09:16

Decided to go for it and walked the dogs over some fields, trying to keep away from trees. It wasn't as bad as I expected but I think it's getting worse now. Phew, can now stay at home and wait it out. Good luck and stay safe fellow dog walkers!

Just got back with my old boy. I chose a route down a sheltered lane away from the prevailing wind and it was fine. I would not have risked my normal route along an exposed south-west facing ridge. I'm on the edge of the red zone in Somerset.

Whilst out, I reported a telegraph pole that was leaning and wobbling. If it goes, we will have no power.

Bigfathairyones · 18/02/2022 09:18

Yup - got up early and took him. V blowy and by the end it was torrential rain, but its done and if he has to miss an afternoon walk, it won't matter now. He's a v large hound who is a complete PITA if he doesn't get out.

SockFluffInTheBath · 18/02/2022 09:29

No. We’re amber near the border to red and my geriatric pup got knocked over by a gust when he was having a wee earlier.

Ours went for a sniffy walk in a local hospital carpark, wind is definitely picking up now (London).

Whatisthepointinthis · 18/02/2022 09:52

Yes just been out for 1.5 hours.

Not too bad here, sunny with light winds.

We are in London and the news said it would hit about 10ish so was out at 7.45, quite windy and a few gushes of heavy rain but got a good 45 mins so no more walks I think, although it's now sunny but very very windy and our park has lots of old oak treas so probably a quiet afternoon. He doesn't mind, 5 yo terrier

sharonelizabeth · 18/02/2022 15:28

No, she’s an elderly dog and quite happy to snuggle up with me on the sofa, very rare we miss a walk but this weather is something else.

RestingStitchFace · 18/02/2022 18:10

We live in East of England so got up early before the storm hit. Have been in since then. Dog is very antsy so had a lot of tug of war with her tug rope in the house to keep her amused...

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 19/02/2022 09:30

My (older teen) dd til our dog out, the dog absolutely loved it and the wind seemed to make him really excitable.

Other than it being windy it was a gorgeous sunny day here.
