My beautiful lovely smiley girl

She was only 2.5 and suffered a yet unexplained cardiac arrest while out walking. She died instantly.
I'm absolutely devastated and don't know what to do.

So sorry. Your beautiful girl perhaps had some genetic cause.

Although her life was far too short, I bet she was loved and cherished.

So sorry, losing a dog to old age is bad enough, but at such a young age. Bless her. RIP.

anon12345anon · 19/12/2021 09:53

This made me cry. Similar happened to me just over a year ago.

I am so so sorry for your loss Flowers

There is no magic cure, I couldn't bear to look at photos of him until months and months later.
I miss him so much, it hurts.

Try to remember the fun times, and know that he knew that you loved him so much x

Sending Flowers to you

Sorry piper not pippa

Bluntness100 · 19/12/2021 10:05

I’m so sorry op. Mine died at 4, also unexpectedly, got very unwell and they found it wasn’t survivable when they opened him up, he was put to sleep on the operating table. I had to give the go ahead.

I cried literally daily for a couple of weeks. He was like a child to me and had raised him from a puppy. It’s devastating and very different to loosing an older animal. I couldn’t even look at a picture of him for about a year as it caused me distress. It was the thought of him in pain at the end that did me.

Try to go gently, it takes time to get over it.💐

Oh wow so sorry to read this OP. I also lost a dog at 2.5 years old, 2 years ago now. She died from sepsis - from fit and well to losing her in less than 48 hours, despite her going to a university vet school ICU and them doing everything possible.

It was devastating, luckily I have an understanding employer, I was allowed several days off work immediately. For a long time when I thought of her it would often be just a feeling of injustice that she should be here with us. Now a few years on it is still desperately sad but doesn’t hurt so much any more. I remember more the love and the joy when she was here.

I keep a memory box for each of my dogs I have lost, I get a wooden box personalised on Etsy, and put sentimental items in there, I find putting that together quite therapeutic.

It’s real grief and real bereavement, and initially probably some post traumatic stress response around the practicalities of what happened.

ilovesushi · 19/12/2021 10:26

So sorry for the loss of your beautiful dog. She is an absolute beauty. How shocking for you all. xxx

Ostryga · 19/12/2021 10:28

I am so sorry for the loss of your gorgeous girl. Losing a pet suddenly and before their time is a pain so unique and sharp.

Be kind to yourself, and let yourself grieve her. You don’t need to pretend it’s all fine because it was ‘just a dog’. They are part of the family and loved as such.

TheVolturi · 19/12/2021 10:29

So sad! Sending you love op FlowersFlowers

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/12/2021 10:37

Piper is a beautiful girl and I know the pain of losing a dog suddenly, so I understand the bewildered hurt you are feeling.

Dearest OP. It doesn’t make it easier but it helped me cope. She died loving life. She died quickly. She died without fear.

And most important she died knowing how it felt to be free and happy and loved.

But I know your hurt and have cried your tears. And they need to fall hard and fast because for now, it just is all so bloody unfair.

I hope you find enough peace and healing to start remembering her with more smiles than tears.

She was a lucky girl for her little life by the sound of it . I’m just sorry you both didn’t get the tears you should have had 🐾 🐾 🌻 x

Magissa · 19/12/2021 10:40

She is so beautiful and looks so happy. You gave her a wonderful life even if it was sadly so short.
We lost our dog in a very similar way some years ago. It is absolutely devastating. I'm so sorry for your loss.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/12/2021 10:46

Years you should have had. Not tears. Sorry. X

CeibaTree · 19/12/2021 11:28

So sorry for your loss, you must still be in shock. Were you alone with her when it happened? So traumatising - look after yourself x

Flatandhappy · 19/12/2021 11:34

BlackSwan · 19/12/2021 11:54
