Can I call my (as yet theoretical) dog Stiffy?

My dog is named after a character from Jeeves and Wooster.

We are planning to get a border terrier bitch pup next year. I very much like the idea of calling her Stiffy Byng (another J&W character) which would inevitably end up Stiffy for short.

What would you think if you met a dog called Stiffy?

A. This dog’s name is Erection.
B. Oh, like Stiffy Byng?
C. Nothing much.
D. Something else.

Can't you call him Byng instead? I think that's quite cute.

I'd absolutely think A (and I've read most of the books... I'd still think A). I'd also not want to be shouting it in a park trying to get the dog to recall! Always pick a name you'd not be embarrassed to yell in public at the top of your voice.
