Just interested!
We've had our shih tzu three weeks now. I love the fact he's chilled out, doesn't yap, chew or moult. He loves to be with people.
But apart from the moulting that might just be his personality!
What breed do you have any why?

We have two Parsons Russells, chosen because they ate proper country dogs. Cute, very friendly, very loyal and they absolutely love children. They are happy to walk for 10 miles, but equally as happy to not have a walk at all. They are good guard dogs as well, so win win!

2french bulldogs, love the breed, nice and lazy need minimal walking.

Sleep all day and are amazing with children.

Real people dogs but dislike other dogs (we live very remotely so they are not used to them)

Have had no problems, hot through a great breeder and are just a joy

Dazedandconfused170 · 24/08/2021 21:50

A whippet ❤️
The most affectionate, kind, soft dog ever!
Suits our lazy lifestyle but will also walk and walk and walk (and run of course)
Very low maintenance and couldn’t be happier we chose this breed

MaidEdithofAragon · 24/08/2021 21:51

Retired greyhound. Very calm, lazy, beautiful to look at, very easy to exercise. Super chilled but affectionate.

We got a Labrador as our first dog, because Dh had labs growing up, and knows they have lovely temperaments - she’s a brown lab.

Our second dog was a rescue - listed as a Labrador cross by the Dogs’ Trust - everyone who saw her thought she was a lab-pointer cross. She died early last year, and by the time we were ready to think about another dog, we were in lockdown, and it became much harder to find a rescue dog who would fit in our family - all the ones we considered couldn’t live with cats, and we have CatBastard.

In the end, Dh found a site called Rehoming Cyprus Pointers - he really wanted another pointer or pointer cross - and we fell in love with an 18 month old pointer cross from there. She arrived about six weeks ago, and is settling in really well. She is much smaller than either our Labrador or our old lab-pointer cross, and we are wondering if she might be a pointer-whippet cross. We are considering DNA testing to find out. It wouldn't change how much we love her.

The three photos are Coco the brown lab, Mia, the lab-pointer cross, with Coco and Smudge the cat - aka CatBastard, and then Bella the pointer?whippet cross.

Oops - the second pic is Mia on her own, on her chair - I mixed up which pictures I was using. Blush

Staffie Cross. Got her as I felt sorry for her. She’s an old girl (was 8 or 9 when I got her), and had been in the kennels for months and months because her owner died. She kept getting passed over.

@RevealTheHiddenBeach What a beauty! I'd love a scruffy lurcher, not that's she's scruffy mind you, but I think they are beautiful.

I've got a border terrier. Inherited him when I got with my boyfriend. I love the bones of him, probably more than the boyfriend 😏

Danielle2500 · 24/08/2021 22:02

We have a miniature english bullterrier.
Always loved EBTs but I don’t think I could handle a standard size - even our mini is bloody strong!
He is just lovely, cuddly, friendly, goofy and has his own personality.
We are renting now, but once buy a house, we are getting another one😁

Mamainthemaking · 24/08/2021 22:03

Walked into the rescue and asked who they had a hard time finding a home for. They said a big Rottweiler X. We took him home a week later.

PuppyMonkey · 24/08/2021 22:03

Golden retriever because golden retrievers are the bestest dogs.Grin

Basset Fauve De Bretagne

We wanted a dog that was calm, patient and unruffled around kids. Wanted a dog active enough to be part of a young family. And was adamant that I wanted a low-shed breed.

We did a lot of research into breeds and then got introduced to someone with a Fauve and we realised straight away it was the perfect breed for us.

Our little girl is the love of our lives. She is adored and adoring in equal measure. Smile

RestingStitchFace · 24/08/2021 22:05

@PuppyMonkey What a gorgeous face!

Auntieobem · 24/08/2021 22:05

We have a boxer, we'd both had them as children and they really are the best dogs! She digs.

Goldrill · 24/08/2021 22:10

Lurcher. Always lurchers; slinky and lazy. Just the right height to stroke. Latest one is considerably more cuddly than all the others, but they have all been lovely, gentle, relaxed individuals. And watching them have a hoon or play is brilliant!

BrassicaBabe · 24/08/2021 22:11

We have a sprinter. She's 11 now and has been bomb proof since day 1.

But it's the GSD that has the special place in my heart. 🥰

cheeseisthebest · 24/08/2021 22:12

All your dogs sound so lovely.

@MrsRobbieHart

I’ve never had any experience with french bulldogs- why are you all idiots for owning them? Grin
Sadly because they're often poorly bred and extremely brachycephalic which predisposes them to significant health problems and suffering.

Shame because they're often nice characters

XelaM · 24/08/2021 22:25

@Auntieobem Awww gorgeous!

All the doggie pictures in this thread are adorable.

This is our couch potato pug again (taken 5mins ago) sleeping on my daughter's pillow so she has to make alternative arrangements tonight and slee on the opposite side of the bed Grin

The world needs more people like you 🙌

hairymorag · 24/08/2021 22:29

Wire Haired Fox terrier - other half researched the breed and decided he wanted a smart dog which basically equated to hard to train, poor recall , not good with kids and generally a pain in the ass. Love him but dear god it’s been hard work

Malibukev · 24/08/2021 22:32

Smooth haired miniature dachshund because dp had two growing up. Should have researched them myself before agreeing.

Gorgeous dog but very set in his ways. Marks everywhere. And barks. A Lot.

Leonberger · 24/08/2021 22:34

We had always had german shepherds until we had children and didn’t have the time to really do as much with them as we would have liked walking and training wise so wanted something a bit calmer/more family friendly next time.

Met a leonberger on holiday and both fell in love with his personality, silly face and floppy ears! We went home and researched a lot and met some local Leo’s and eventually managed to get one. The size wasn’t really a consideration but now I love having giants!! They are like giant clowns in a teddy bear type body Grin

Mishuckliza · 24/08/2021 22:35

A pitbull who’s 2 and absolutely amazing with my autistic son, they are the the best of friends. Hence why I chose the breed. She’s also brilliant with other dogs and goes to doggy daycare once a week. And a mastiff who’s 1 and loves my daughter to bits. She’s 8 stone but a gentle giant. Also goes to doggy daycare once a week. Chosen for the laid back nature of a mastiff x
