Just interested!
We've had our shih tzu three weeks now. I love the fact he's chilled out, doesn't yap, chew or moult. He loves to be with people.
But apart from the moulting that might just be his personality!
What breed do you have any why?

Greyhound, they have the most wonderful personalities and suit my lazy lifestyle. We both sleep in and both take a lot of naps. She is a cuddle monster, a bit of an idiot and can be such a laugh.

Ughmaybenot · 24/08/2021 20:05

Because, while at my brothers admiring the litter my boy was from, when I picked him up, I fell in love with him and he came home with me that day. I didn’t particularly want a cockapoo (and my boyfriend at the time absolutely didn’t want a puppy at all) but he’s perfect, in every way. He’s calm and cuddly and has such a cracking little character, he’s been my shadow and constant companion for the past 8 years.

CookPassBabtridge · 24/08/2021 20:07

Golden retriever. He is a big lumbering mass of love and gentleness but also a bit cheeky. I love long haired dogs but not so long they smell and get matted. He is just so sweet and great with the kids.

CookPassBabtridge · 24/08/2021 20:08

Oh and he rarely barks, only when he sees the cat getting access to some food and he isn't! Otherwise nothing at all.

Hellocatshome · 24/08/2021 20:08

@GrouchyKiwi can we have a photo of your Newfie I absolutely love them. We came across one in the woods and my DS then about 3 came running towards us going "there's a bear there's a bear" not long afterwards a huge brown newfie came bounding towards us with a very flustered owner bringing up the rear.

MissyB1 · 24/08/2021 20:11

I blame the children’s author Mick Inkpen he wrote the Kipper books. Kipper’s best friend is “Tiger” who looks like a Schnauzer. He was the whole family’s favourite character in the books.
We had to get a Schnauzer.

I am also an idiot to own a 6 year old French bulldog...kids and the husband wanted one, I wanted a beagle and got over ruled!
Had multiple problems with him even though we did everything correctly.
He doesn't shed,is very well behaved,is a real Mummy's boy but hates other dogs

GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:13

Hello I am always happy to share pictures of her!

You can have three:

  • when she was about 5 months old
  • last year when we were on holiday
  • a couple of days ago

My golden boy never barked either. I think he did less than ten single woofs in his whole ten years of life.
GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:15

I don't know what happened there. It told me photos were too big and I changed the message, but now it has posted the old one! I'll try again.

I’ve never had any experience with french bulldogs- why are you all idiots for owning them? Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:16

And here's the one from last year because she's so cute in it.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:16

MissyB I love Schnauzers. I've been trying to convince DH to get one, but he thinks he's a one-breed man.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:17

Nope. It doesn't want to show you that photo. Alas. (Also: sorry for all the posts.)

NinDS · 24/08/2021 20:17

We have a beagle!!! My DH has always been a big fan of Star Trek and one of the Captains had a beagle and he loved it, so that’s how we got a beagle! She is adorable but the first couple of years were hard work as they have so much energy and are very powerful dogs. She is definitely his dog too…talk about me and my shadow!! She follows him everywhere!! She’s totally adorable and we wouldn’t be without her!

Letthelightoflove · 24/08/2021 20:17

Because he’s bloody gorgeous (mastiff).

AdventuresDownRabbitholes · 24/08/2021 20:18

Err.... Accident / fate

PwySyddYma · 24/08/2021 20:19

Mastiff....ex came home with it from the pub as a puppy 🤦🏻‍♀️

First I refused and banished it to the kitchen saying it could stay in there till I made up my mind. Same night about 4am I could hear him crying....yeah
...I felt awful went down and cuddled him, brought him in to bed and spooned that puppy.

Now I have to deal with the fact a 40kg mastiff keeps wanting to get in to my bed for a spooning.

Kept the dog, got rid of the ex 😂 dogs wonderful, friendly, well behaved , listens, is great with children and other dogs. He's a dream. I definitely kept the right one haha!

Hellocatshome · 24/08/2021 20:20

Aww @GrouchyKiwi she is adorable 😍

bingohandjob · 24/08/2021 20:20

Lab from gun dog line. So far, he's all the things I'd hoped from a lab - kind, good natured, friendly, trainable and developing really good, steady basic doggy manners, lolloping, funny, and affectionate.

He's also selectively deaf, contrary, pulling, farty, anxious, nervy at times, likes to jump up to greet you but with consistent training these aspects are steadily decreasing.

I hope he becomes a really happy, confident and steady dog.

He's very motivated by food but not as greedy as we thought he might be and he is far, far more handsome than we expected Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 24/08/2021 20:21

@Hellocatshome

Aww *@GrouchyKiwi* she is adorable 😍
Thank you. Grin We certainly think so.
allyouneedisconnection · 24/08/2021 20:22

Springer spaniel. She's the sweetest most loyal companion I could wish for. She never barks, was easy to train and great with people/kids.
I wanted a dog that looked kind and sweet, but could also handle country life.

ladygindiva · 24/08/2021 20:23

@nancybotwinbloom

I wanted a small dog as I can't really stomach massive dog poos.

He's wonderful and he just fits in so well with us. He's a mongrel, cross between a chihuahua and a Jack Russell.

I just wanted a small dog. We saw his pics and we loved him.

We have the same! A real little character. A small dog suited us as we have a small house and garden and my mum does the dog sitting for us if we go away or out for the day etc and a smaller dog is easier to manage for her.
Unfashionable · 24/08/2021 20:23

Our lurcher was a rehoming. He belonged to a friend of a friend who fell in love with him as a cute little puppy but didn’t quite realise that he would grow into a big, lively dog with a strong prey drive. 🙄

Ilovedthe70s · 24/08/2021 20:26

Two wolfhounds because they have personalities to match their size, three I don’t know whats because nobody else wanted them and a staffy because they are the kindest most reliable breed I have known in 40 years of dog owning
