Does your dog sit like this?

She has done this since the day she arrived (rescue- no history) and I’m wondering if it’s a natural thing some dogs do or if she was trained to do it.

When she wants to sit on the sofa she turns her arse around and plonks it on the sofa and keeps her front feet on the floor. She very rarely climbs up front feet first unless it’s bedtime and she’s settling for the night or if she is getting up properly to lie down for a nap.

She is gorgeous

Maybe she sees you sitting with your bottom on the sofa and thinks she’s doing the same 😂. Our puppy isn’t allowed on the sofa but he likes to sit on my knee on the floor and he sits in a similar way as he’s already outgrown my knee 😂.

Yes she does it on our knees too! While we’re on the sofa

Mine both do it at times, though they don't back up to the sofa to do it. They are lurchers and sit/lie in the weirdest positions

I know nothing about dogs sorry....but that dog is too cute to not say anything

We had an Old English Sheepdog back in the 1980s who sat like that ..shall try and find a pic tomorrow 😍🐾

She does sit normally on the floor too when asked but if the sofa is near this is her preferred option

DPs great dane will if he can get away with it (isn't allowed on the sofas in my lounge) but will just climb on and curl up where he is allowed.
He also sits on DPs knee in the same way - but the pics I've taken always look as if something unsavory might be happening!

Aww she's lovely. We have a very greyhoundy lurcher who sometimes sits on the arm of the sofa ready to pounce as soon as my son takes his eyes off his food. He sits on my arm for the same reason. He never sits like yours but he does stand with his back legs on the sofa front legs on the floor backside in the air for a big stretch. Pointynoses are the best!

Yes!! We get the super elongated stretches too!

She's gorgeous. My lurcher does the same thing. Maybe it's a way to manage their ridiculously long legs!

Maybe it's the whole enormous legs leading them to do it. My cocker spaniel never sits like that.
