Does your dog sit like this?

She has done this since the day she arrived (rescue- no history) and I’m wondering if it’s a natural thing some dogs do or if she was trained to do it.

When she wants to sit on the sofa she turns her arse around and plonks it on the sofa and keeps her front feet on the floor. She very rarely climbs up front feet first unless it’s bedtime and she’s settling for the night or if she is getting up properly to lie down for a nap.

They are happy Chasing as this is their favourite place in the world! We bumped into a photographer who took some lovely pics of them both.

My dog sometimes stays with a lady who has a Great Dane. She (the dog, obv) sat on my lap like that. Mine is a dachshund so it came as a bit of a surprise (they do look really funny together)

@MotionActivatedDog it's definitely a lurched and big dogs thing. Labs do it sometimes too!

I have a medium sized terrier who sits like that but not on the sofa as he's too small but on bottom staircase very often

Does anyone's dog have their own allocated chair for sitting on like that? Maybe there's a gap in the market, I expect OnThe0again's terrier would like his own correctly sized chair in the sitting room.

Yes. My retriever x backs up to the stairs and sits like that.

Yes, our huge doodle will plonk his butt on the sofa, front feet on the floor. He also does it on the top step of the staircase, nose against the landing window, just watching the world go by.

This was just how she jumped up when she stole my seat her normal sit is, well a normal dog sit! She’s only around a year old so I really hope she doesn’t have any leg issues yet!
