@MrsHerculePoirot FOMO is exactly what he has 😂 he won’t settle for a single minute when he’s not napping in his crate, I really need to work on this over the holidays. He will settle with a pizzle stick if I’m in the same room though but at least it buys me about 45 mins of peace. I tried to distract him with one today while I cleaned but it didn’t work 🙈.

Returnoftheowl · 02/08/2021 22:14

Puppy has been a pain this evening. Refusing to go outside, has had two accidents inside, barking at everything constantly, trying to bite us... You name it he's done it this evening.

He will nap during the morning & early afternoon but refuses after that. He has a crate, but if the door is closed he will whine and bark constantly, but if the door is open he's out of the crate and following us around. He just will not calm down in the evenings. His behaviour in the evening might well be because he's over tired, but how do you make a puppy nap?! We've tried sitting quietly so he knows he's not missing out on anything, treats in the crate, quietly stroking him on his bed, etc... We're running out of ideas.

We've been having to go to bed at around 9pm to get some peace/get a break from the biting! But I'm getting fed up of not being able to stay up passed 9pm.

@MsAwesomeDragon

What breed is your puppy *@Elphame*? We will need to see photos asap. I do love little squishy puppies (which rather begs the question of why we went for a great galumphing brute of a boy)
Oh another Welshie I'm afraid.

She's definitely going to be little and squishy but appearances are deceiving. Little devils in disguise, especially the girls!

I can't wait

@Returnoftheowl
I share your pain. We have the same couple of hours EVERY.DAMN.EVENING. when our placid and gentle pup turns into a Tasmanian devil with PMT. I'm pinning my hopes on it getting better when she can go out walking.

ashmts · 02/08/2021 23:06

@Returnoftheowl I remember those days! We did the same, I remember feeling fed up of being banished to my bedroom at 9 or 10pm. All I can say is it does pass. Although the other night DP was nightshift and I was having a late night watching TV and Ashpup stood between me and the TV staring at me to tell me it was bedtime Grin so I guess she does still dictate!

@LadyCatStark it's easier said than done but if you move and he wakes up, tough. As PP said, flitting game is good. Or maybe going back to basics with crate training so he's happy to lie there awake but settled. Have you left him in the house alone yet? I forget how old he is. I used to try not to move if she was sleeping cos I was loving the peace but then you just don't get anything done. As time went on she got used to the moving around and stopped following. Also I've said it before and I'll say it again, daycare saved my sanity. Even one or two days a week would give you time to get on top of housework.

MsAwesomeDragon · 03/08/2021 06:34

Oh @pelagra that sounds like a very dramatic first trip out!! I hope your dgs makes a swift recovery.

According to that website AwesomePup is underweightShock. He's not. He might be slim but it's not as if you can see his ribs all the time (weirdly you can see his ribs when he's eating, but not any other time).

Nordstrom · 03/08/2021 06:53

@LadyCatStark I know how you feel re the housework! I had low standards to begin with...but jeez my kitchen floor (pup room) is a particular brand of disgusting! Don't want to use the robo vac when she is sleeping as it freaks her out a bit, zero chance of mopping while she's awake.

Nordpup has taken to pooing and weeing inside overnight again since we retuned from holiday (where bizarrely she only did it once 🤔). She used to be fairly reliable to hold I until I came down at 6.30. I was starting to feel less like a zombie...looks like we're back to dawn alarms again 😩

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/08/2021 07:09

@Nordstrom oh no! Back to sleeping with pup for a few nights again? Hope it passes quickly.

Definitely lower cleaning standards but sometimes we do it when the other one takes PoirotPup for a walk or we shut him in a room with one of us whilst the other does it? Just a thought?
