Ours takes herself off to bed around 8.30 after doing the rounds to check if anyone wants to come to bed with her. She then trots off.

We get her up again when we go to bed about 10.30 ish for a last pee, when she likes to sniff a few twigs on the hedge across the road, stand still anD sniff the air deeply, then find a stick to take to bed with her.

Quite similar to yours! Ours likes to take herself off to bed in the evening, then when we're getting ready for bed she's up to do a lap of the perimeter (making sure all are safely gathered in, you see) then she follows us upstairs to bed.

Chocolateandamaretto · 23/06/2021 11:09

He snoozes on the sofa with us or in his bed in the dining room if DH is working in there. When we go to bed he goes out for a wee then gets in bed and that's it. I think he'd go to bed at about 8.30 if left undisturbed!

cupsofcoffee · 23/06/2021 15:01

He falls asleep on the sofa (or in bed) around 8pm normally - whoever is last up to bed lets him out for a last wee, then he comes upstairs and makes himself nice and comfy under the duvet Grin

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 23/06/2021 15:52

My rescue dog goes in his crate at 9.30-10pm after eating his bedtime biscuit, sniffing under all the doors, checking his collar is on the hall table & after I've switched on his white noise machine. He also requests a tummy rub. I like our little ritual Grin

Usernameisgone · 23/06/2021 15:55

Our dog takes himself to bed around 9pm, lays down the middle of the bed for a good hour then comes back out and husband says let's go to bed and the other dog jumps up and off they trot to bed 😂

Sheldock · 23/06/2021 16:01

Walkies at 7pm for 45-60mins.
Snoozes on the sofa from 8:30pm
10pm he goes in the garden for a last wee and a check of his kingdom. He brings in a chew bone that he buried sometime around lunch.
10:10pm he goes to bed
7am- we all wake up...apart from the dog, he gets woken at 7:30am for his morning walk.
8:30am goes back to bed.

niceupthedance · 23/06/2021 16:04

9pm final wee and bark with dog friend across the way
Has water
Looks for youngest DC as it's their bedtime too
Goes to crate in bedroom asleep by 9.30

RubixRubicon · 23/06/2021 16:10

This thread has made my day. Ddog will sometimes go out for a sniff, but it depends on what fettle she is in. Otherwise she jumps up when I say it’s bedtime and she gets a nice nest made on the duvet and that’s her done 😂

BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush · 23/06/2021 16:15

They do have little rituals don't they?

Ours would really rather we all went to bed together at 8.30pm though.

evening walk about 7
out again for a quick wee before bed, 11ish
bedtime kibbles, just a few
lights out

Excilente · 23/06/2021 16:22

our old man has his dinner about 6.30, scrounges around after ours, goes out to the loo, comes in and spend the evening passed out by our feet, we wake him up when we go to bed for one last loo visit, give him some kibble, then head to bed.

pilates · 23/06/2021 16:31

Last walk about 8/8.30.
Then he goes up to bed, sometimes he barks at the top of the stairs as if he is calling us up to bed which makes us laugh.

LoveFall · 23/06/2021 16:35

Takes himself to bed (on our bed) at about 8:45 every evening. I sometimes have to wake him for a final wee.

He is supposed to stay at the foot of the bed, and he well knows this, but he gradually creeps up before a quick stealth move up to beside me with his little body pressed against my back. I'm naughty and let him stay much to DH's chagrin.

afaloren · 23/06/2021 16:43

Snoozes on the sofa or wherever we are in the evening. When we go to bed he goes out for a last pee then has supper (reserved from his dinner portion) and his arthritis meds then in his crate.

Occasionally we have him on our bed but he’s restless. He prefers his crate.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 23/06/2021 16:45

Ours can tell the time. At 10 pm 1 gets up and stands next to dh. 2 follow and dh has to carry the 25kg one downstairs!! Grin
They all go out the back for a wee and then onto their own spaces for sleep!! Up at 6.30.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 23/06/2021 16:48

Evening walk from 7-8pm, will then sit in the garden for a bit making sure the neighbours cat doesn't get any ideas about coming over the fence, settles down to sleep from 9pm on my feet.

Last wee of the day at 10pm and follows us up to bed.

CMOTDibbler · 23/06/2021 16:48

Ddog1 has never quite got the hang of ds going to bed later, so goes to ds's bed after his dinner at 7 to wait for him to come to bed.
Ddog2 will decide at some point that it is time for him to go to bed, goes to his crate and then will come and find us to ask to be shut in. Bless him, its then apparently all our problem in the world once he's shut in and he prefers it that way

EverNapping · 23/06/2021 16:52

At the appropriate (dog decided) time we are all alerted to the theatre of bedtime. Humans must let dog out for wees followed by a treat. Humans must report to bed shortly afterwards for presentation of the last biscuit. After we're in bed we may discover dog still needs the toilet. Time to sleep & all done within the hour.

Failure to comply is dealt with by increasingly vocal objections.

Wouldn't change it for anything. Except for the bit where dog still needs the loo after we've got in bed.

motogogo · 23/06/2021 16:56

Snoozes all evening (well snoozes all day!) Last wee at 9.30/10 then off to find a bed (human) only to be sent to his own bed around 11

Novacancy3 · 23/06/2021 16:58

He has his supper (I kid you not) at 7.30 then falls asleep in his chair in the lounge. At 9.30 he sits up and stares directly at me until I let him into the garden for a wee and to check for cats. He then toddles in and jumps straight up onto my bed and rolls over and awaits his bedtime tummy tickles. He always wakes at sunrise and again sits up and stares at me until I give in and get up to serve him his breakfast.

FranklySonImTheGaffer · 23/06/2021 17:11

Ours sleeps on the sofa next to me or on my lap from around 8pm.
At around 10:30 I say "right" and he jumps down and wanders to the back door. I put him out and he has a wee etc then does a walk around the perimeter of the garden before sitting next to the door to come back in.
Once in he double and triple checks his bowl and surrounding area in case extra food has magically appeared, has a drink and follows me up.
Every night without fail he gets into his bed, waits until I've done my teeth / got changed etc and have just led down, then he wanders to me and basically gives puppy dog eyes to see if he's allowed to sleep on our bed.
If I say no he goes to his bed and we don't hear off him until morning.
If I say yes he gets up, sits next to my chest to get a fuss then moves down to my feet, curls up in a ball and we don't hear off him until morning.

Funny, I've ever really thought about his routine until now.

DinosaurDiana · 23/06/2021 17:16

Mine chooses a toy to hold in her mouth about 8.30-9pm, then looks at you like ‘it’s time we went to bed’.
I ignore him until 10pm, then it’s out for a wee and up to bed.
He used to wake me up in the mirror a wee, but now he’s older he gets up after me !

EverNapping · 23/06/2021 17:17

@BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush

They do have little rituals don't they?

Ours would really rather we all went to bed together at 8.30pm though.

Ours brought our bedtime forward 45 minutes when we stopped giving her bedtime carrot Hmm. It is very funny that even my retired dad gives in to my tyrant's bedtime regime. Tv & games may be played after lights out, but only in bed.
FAQs · 23/06/2021 17:22

Mine takes her teddy to bed with her, she picks it up and carries it upstairs in her mouth and puts it next to where she sleeps. She did like to take a half size of toast with her but it started to get messy however I feel guilty about it when she stands there looking at me for a slice.

dogistoobigforthesofa · 23/06/2021 17:30

Ours has her last wee around 8.15, then falls asleep on the sofa at about 8.30 and takes herself off to bed at about 10.00. She goes over to DP to 'say goodnight' and then I go with her to give her a bedtime biscuit before she settles down. If I forget the biscuit, she'll refuse to get in her basket and will just give me a hard stare until I remember!
