What’s your dog's bedtime routine?

Ours takes herself off to bed around 8.30 after doing the rounds to check if anyone wants to come to bed with her. She then trots off.

We get her up again when we go to bed about 10.30 ish for a last pee, when she likes to sniff a few twigs on the hedge across the road, stand still anD sniff the air deeply, then find a stick to take to bed with her.

Oh this is such a sweet thread! Our dog has a walk either before or after our dinner, then when she's back she'll play with our DS for a few minutes. He likes to pretend that he's a criminal and she's the police and she has to catch him. Obvs she has no idea but loves an enthusiastic playmate. Once DS is in bed around 7:30 she starts winding down too. Snoozes on her big comfy bed for a couple of hours, then she'll wander round sniffing and wanting a bit of a fuss from us. Around 10:30 we'll get a treat for her and get her outside to go for a wee and then she'll go in her crate for the night until around 6-7am.
Want to get her out of her crate at night soon but the few times we've tried it she wakes up every hour and jumps up on us as she's so excited that she can do that - she's 7 months old so we will have to wait until she's calmed down a little bit and let's us get some sleep too!

Teatime is 6pm on the dot she recognises the Pointless theme tune

Food has given her energy so she has a play afterwards

Goes to sleep. Wakes up at 9pm has people are pottering in the kitchen.

10.30 chew stick is given

Then ddog either trots off to bed or has cuddles on the sofa.

Evening walk 6- 7 they then fall comatose onto either their basket, the chaise with DH or sofa with me ( in summer bask on the sun trap back deck catching evening sunshine). 9-9:30 ask both dogs to go out Boxer grumpily extricates herself and trots out, Springer spaniel grumbles, snuggles into the sofa, basket duvet or chaise with DH a little more and has to be coaxed outside every. Bloody. Night. It’s like trying to wake a grumpy but soppy teenager.

Both come back in having had a noisy, jowl dribbly drink from the outside dog bowl ( they have an indoor one but both prefer the outside one for some strange reason), Boxer then trots off with DH to his room ( politely waiting for him to adjust his electric bed - DH has long term disease affecting mobility - she only jumps up when he is safely in bed and I have pulled his duvet over his feet, she then daintily ( for a 30 kg dog) jumps over his legs and curls up in a ball behind his arse ( foolhardy animal) and in the crook of his legs.

Springer gets invited to my room but often prefers to sprag out in front of wood burner on either his basket or the sofa ( it’s winter here) and we put hardwood on overnight to keep him warm and snuggly - if we forget and the temperature is less than he likes he cries and grumbles by the wood basket until logs are meekly placed in the fire.

They lead a shit life ….

If I'm reincarnated I'd like to come back as a spoilt dog!

oh, the staring.. there is a LOT of sitting and staring at us when he decides its dinner time.. he's mostly about right, but sometimes he's a bit early and we are mean, and refuse to acknowledge the STARE until its dinner time. Grin

Sometimes he does potter off to his bed on his own if we're up later than usual, or its hot, as its cooler on the tiles (his nighttime bed's in an empty/out of the way kitchen corner) than the carpet.

Our puppy has his tea about 6:30pm on a likimat with some of the suitable elements of our tea (ie plain meat and some vegetables). Then he goes for a walk about 7pm-7:30 through the fields to the park for a play. At 7:30ish he goes for a wee and drink and goes in his crate for a sleep til 9:30pm. He gets up at 9:30 on the dot and has another wee, drink and a chew then a cuddle. He’s not allowed on the sofa so I’m currently sitting on the floor with him 😂. He usually wants to go back at 10:30 and can’t quite make it til his last wee at 11pm. At 11, he doesn’t want to get up for a wee but we coax him out and then he has a little wander around the garden while I squint to try and see him because he’s black. He then sleeps til 7am but if we put him to bed at 10:30pm when he’s ready, he wakes up at 5am 🤷‍♀️.
