@MrsHerculePoirot I ended up giving away a lot of treats I bought in bulk when his tastes changed! While it seemed economical to buy in bulk I found a mixture was more effective!

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/06/2021 19:38

I got mine from JR pets - they sell in various places including pets at home but have wide variety on their website and I found they shipped quickly. Not cheap - but in the end DH couldn’t put a price on being able to do work calls and not be bitten alive 🤣

Turquoisesol · 10/06/2021 19:39

Thank you familychallenge I think maybe I haven’t enough variety of chews. To be fair she doesn’t bite us nearly as much as she used to. It’s probably more the furniture now bearing the brunt of it.

Thank you! Tried him with a frozen one an he loves it ☺️

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 20:48

@Turquoisesol furniture and carpets here too! Hang in there 😀😀😀 I think it's trial and error for most of us!

Turquoisesol · 10/06/2021 20:52

I was just reading about this theory for recall called jackpot recall. Where every so often you give the dog a jackpot of something really great when they come. And it’s like playing the lottery where they want to come back again and again in the hope it will be the jackpot. Has anyone heard of this before? Do we think it would work ?

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 20:53

Can we have some updated pics? I'll start (not that I love posting pics of my boy) 🤣🤣🤣

On the cushions he is absolutely positively not allowed on

LadyCatStark · 10/06/2021 20:55

Here is Billy today looking very smart 🥰.

Don't know if you have a June thread yet but our DPup is 12 weeks old. He's a little puggle. Had him almost 4 weeks now, and from being happy to sleep in his puppy pen during the day for naps, he is totally refusing now and yaps constantly. Training is going fine, but he needs to bloody sleep and he is exhausted. He's currently napping with DH on the garden sofa, but if he sees me, he goes nuts, as I have bonded with with him the most.

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 20:55

@Turquoisesol I mix it up- I usually have some of his favourite kibble and some high value treats. I still treat a lot for recall because I'm trying to really reinforce but I think it's helped that sometimes he gets something awesome

Pugdogmom · 10/06/2021 20:57

Pic for cute ness

@LadyCatStark he is lovely 😍😍

@Pugdogmom mine is a puggle too! Also bad at settling. They do get better 😀😀

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 21:00

@Pugdogmom he's much more puggy than mine! The litter is really mixed for ours- some are quite puggy and some much more beagle

LadyCatStark · 10/06/2021 21:01

Awww both puggles are lovely 🥰 what is the -gle part?

LadyCatStark · 10/06/2021 21:02

Oh I see you’ve answered that @familychallenge!

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 21:03

@LadyCatStark yeah- mine is puggle mum and beagle dad so mostly beagle really but with puggy colours and face. Basically a mongrel but a very cute one 🤣🤣🤣

Aww he is very cute 🥰 he looks to be much bigger than a pug!

familychallenge · 10/06/2021 21:13

@LadyCatStark he is! He's over 16kg which is bigger than expected by some margin. Several of his litter mates are only 9-10kg which I guess highlights the variation you can get in mixed breeds. He was the biggest at birth and I don't think he's quite done growing yet either. I'm a bit wary because both breeds can tend to fat but vet says he's perfect weight, just bigger than expected! I'm very happy with it- he's still a small dog overall but a bit more active and bigger than I expected!

rnulanmoo · 10/06/2021 21:34

This is my little cheeky pup! Loving all the pics 😍

LadyCatStark · 10/06/2021 21:41

@rnulanmoo OMG 🥰 he’s a little ball of fluff!

ILikePizzaAndWine · 10/06/2021 22:23

Arghh! So many cute puppies!!!!!! 🥰

Hightideattheseaside · 11/06/2021 07:35

Haven’t posted in ages and come back to so many adorable puppies!

HightidePup is now 4.5 months. She’s doing really well with lead walking when no distractions. If she’s sees another dog though she pulls my arm off! Same with recall. She comes every time at home and when we’re alone on a walk. But people or dogs she’s rubbish.

Does any one have tips for using the long line? She runs to the full extent of it and it’s forever getting caught in her legs. I’m worried she’s going to injure herself.

Also thanks to @MrsHerculePoirot for the recycling feeding ideas. She loves to hunt out her meals in cardboard boxes etc. Realised this morning it’s bin day and I forgot to hold some back.

Well it’s official, pup pees in her crate overnight. I’m not cross, she’s only 9 weeks old, just wondering what the best course of action is.

She goes to bed so nicely, and stays quiet all night, not a peep, and when we come down she’s so good and goes out for a wee, so it’s not fear or distress. She clearly just can’t hold it.

Should I just put puppy pads/newspaper down? Or should I set an alarm for in the night and come down and let her out for a wee?

In other news, do you sometimes just be playing/cuddling your pup and just want to cry with how much you love them? Or am I weird? Blush

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/06/2021 08:13

Here's AwesomePup. He's 10 weeks now and we already see such a difference in the way he moves. He's not the little lollopy puppy who doesn't really know how to run, he's a lot more graceful now.
