I love my dog

I just need to share it. I’m autistic, I struggle with most humans (not that they can tell sometimes). But I can just be me with my dog. He gets me. We have a bond.

I think he knows. I tell him all this all the time. And he always wants a cuddle - and he’s so easy to cuddle. If I stop cuddling or patting him I get an indignant paw which makes me smile.

We are so lucky to have dogs. Every single one is amazing. We often don’t deserve them.

Thank you for reading this. I just want you, and him, to know how amazing he is.

I got a rescue dog last year and just love her so much. She has the prettiest face and I love snuggling her. She’s always happy to see me and I can’t imagine life without her now.

I love my dog more than anything, too.

He is very much his own dog, likes his own space and goes his own way, but at the end of the day we both love each other so much. He’s so curious and funny and involved in everything.

I even only work part time, odd hours, so I can be with him all the time. (My DP is very understanding!)

I never knew it was possible to love an animal so much.

I loved my old girl so much and she loved me, she was such a big part of our lives. She made lockdowns do much more bearable, with her daft ways and weird sleeping positions. The pain of missing her takes my breath away, but it's a small price to pay for a wonderful 12 years. Give your lovely dog an ear scratch from me!

They don’t care about friendship groups
They don’t post shite on social media
They have no opinion on brexit
They don’t mention covid or lockdown
They don’t make you feel rubbish
They don’t make you question yourself endlessly
They don’t judge you

He loves pats and cuddles
He loves chasing balls and reflections
He loves cheese and salami
He loves walks (of course)
He loves being with me. Always
He needs me to protect him from the scary elderly cat.

How come dogs get it so right and humans constantly get it so wrong?

I've just been thinking about this op. My marriage is falling apart but my dog is always there with me, he's just everything at the minute. I don't know what I'd do without him. We don't deserve dogs really, they're so much better than people
