Thats great thanks, I will check it out.

C4itl · 01/02/2021 14:27

@PugInTheHouse I really didn't think when I started looking into getting a puppy I'd become so invested in the specific timings of his toileting Grin

@C4itl I know, trouble is I don't really know many people who have just got new puppies so now their dogs hardly ever see to poo and wee so I kind of assumed by 4 months it would just be a wee and a poo after dinner then when they wake in the morning. How wrong was i!

C4itl · 01/02/2021 14:46

@PugInTheHouse I just checked a previous days log and C4pup wees around every 1.5-2 hours unless he's napping, and poos at 4am, around 11am, 3pm and then sometimes around 7-8pm too.

However, we have left him alone in the house during the day for longer than 2 hours in the past and he hasn't had an accident so he can definitely hold it if he needs to. Also during the night he wees at 4am and then we're pretty much forcing him to have another around 7am.

I also thought I wouldn't be getting up in the night by now, probably if we'd crate trained I wouldn't be Blush

@C4itl pugpup is in a crate at night but he will happily wee or poo in it still, he defies all odds! No idea what was up last night but he wee'd so often in the evening, last wee just after 10 then he wee'd in the crate at 5am. Really unlike him as he goes 8 or 9 hours usually.

Earlier in the day hes every 2 to 3 hrs then after tea time its every 30 seconds it seems Grin

You have reminded me of our other issue, i have been crap at leaving him and now he is a nightmare. I am going to have to up my game on that too.

C4itl · 01/02/2021 15:01

@PugInTheHouse we were doing really well with it until lockdown and now we hardly leave him, I hope he doesn't go back to square one with it...

We try to go out places to leave him for a little while a few times a week, but there's literally nowhere to go unless we go for a walk or to the supermarket, riveting stuff! Grin

Thats the trouble, we didn't get him till end of November and our area went into tier 3 then 4 so we've had nowhere to go. I need to just practice going upstairs as he cries and barks till he can hardly breathe if I leave the room.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 01/02/2021 15:22

Hi all, we’re having a difficult time at the moment, GeorgiePup isn’t well at all.

I hope to come back and update with good news but I’m going to hide this thread for the time being, I hope you don’t mind.

Best wishes to you all and your pups.

oriel2013 · 01/02/2021 15:36

We definitely have some seperation anxiety concerns too @notquitetheusual. The plan was to leave her while I did daily school run after Xmas hols at first but obviously that never happened. She seems to get the evening routine now and isn't too bad when I take the kids to bed but if I try and leave her in the day she cries and barks. We have been giving her a chopped doggy sausage inside a kong which helps for a while.
It's hard to know how much is helpful and how much will just reinforce the distress when she starts really going for it.

ashmts · 01/02/2021 15:41

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat Not sure if you'll see this but just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope to see you back on the thread soon with good news for us x

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 16:06

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoatsending lots of love if you see this

ashmts · 01/02/2021 16:07

@Plantlover23 What a beauty! To answer some of your questions from yesterday, I'd say our pup is toilet trained but not sure about fully. She has accidents in other houses, so if she's over at DP's parents' or sister's house she'll wee on the floor sometimes. We honestly haven't had an accident in our house since before Christmas so I'm not sure if it's because she doesn't know how to get out, is too excited and cba going out, or if they're not reading her signals and not giving her enough opportunities. We still pop her out every couple of hours so she has the chance to go. We'll likely just naturally extend the intervals between trips out as she gets older. Your pup is still super young so I wouldn't put a deadline on it, it'll just happen.

And as for when she became more chilled, she calmed down a bit at 12 weeks once the walks started. Biting reduced around this time too. Something clicked in her around Christmas and she just became more pleasant to be around. That was around 17 weeks and I'd say that was the point her attention span improved to the extent she would sit and play with a toy alone, or focus on a training session. Have you tried a chew like a cow ear? That was the only thing that bought us a moment's peace when she was little.

@PugInTheHouse It always sounded like you were lucky with Pugpup very early on, being able to hold his bladder so long. Going back to basics sounds sensible. Ours is 5 months and still has maybe 3 or 4 wees after dinner. But then she's quite energetic so she drinks a lot too.

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 16:08

@oriel2013 I think my plan is to start leaving him for 2 mins then 3 mins etc and just go upstairs. If he's in the crate the worst he can do is wee or poo i guess. I feel awful as its totally my fault.

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 16:13

@ashmts yep I think it was just luck, he only ever wee'd every 3 to 4 hours during the day, I actually worried it wasnt enough, he also reliably went to the back door pretty much every time. He goes more in other places than the back door if left to it and if we put a pad down he rips it up. All so strange. The biting has pretty much stopped now though except for DS2s slippers for some reason.

He definitely drinks a lot later in the day, he has lots of zoomies so drinks loads after that. I have removed the cats water fountain and just kept his bowl as I am sure he liked the fountain just because he could put his whole face in it Grin

Plantlover23 · 01/02/2021 16:36

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat so sorry to hear this, lots of love to you x

Plantlover23 · 01/02/2021 16:38

Thanks @ashmts! I haven’t tried any of those types of chews yet no, she has an easy antler I haven’t given her yet so may try her on that. I’m guessing you can buy cow ears etc at pets at home? The easiest place for me to get to!

To be fair to her she has calmed quite a lot with me already dependent on what room we are in! Much less nippy with me and jumpy. Just seems to be the excitement of other people now, I’m now boring and unexciting Grin

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 17:05

Pugpup keeps weeing on people's feet when they say hello to him when we are on walks Blush

Plantlover23 · 01/02/2021 17:07

@PugInTheHouse oh no! Such excitement Grin

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 17:14

@Plantlover23 so embarrassing though Grin I cant even sneak off stealthy as my 12 yo who has autism just announces it Blush

Plantlover23 · 01/02/2021 18:49

Plantpup and I have just been to the vets for her last vaccinations - we can go out a week today, yay! Grin

I asked the receptionist out of interest when they recommend spaying and they said around 3 months after the first season. I would personally prefer to have her spayed prior to her first season, mostly so I can continue to walk her as normal without concerns of male dogs etc and due to the reduced risks of illnesses. Do I have to listen to her advice (not sure her advice is the same as the whole practise!) or can I book it in for when I think is best for my dog? Hmm

PugInTheHouse · 01/02/2021 19:30

Just to let you all know that Georgiepup has had some seizures and they are awaiting test results from the vets to see what is going on. I have told georgiethegorgeousgoat that people on here are sending their love and she said I could pass on to you all what has happened as I know people will be concerned.

Plantlover23 · 01/02/2021 19:53

Hope Georgiepup gets well soon x

Doje · 01/02/2021 20:16

Oh gosh, how awful. Tell Georgie we're thinking of her.

Doje · 01/02/2021 20:21

DPup is on one tonight. We've had so many good days, and now tonight he's gone bitey, mean and has just weed in his bed! I know they don't do these things to piss you off but it really felt like it! It was like he looked me in the eye and then weed!

On that note, how much have people spent on their dog beds? Dpup likes to savage them, so I'm reluctant to spend too much. The most success I've had is an old cotbed duvet / duvet cover. But I worry that I've not spent enough to get a decent one that will survive longer.
