Will your dog be getting Christmas dinner?

Just that really? Am thinking of giving mine a scaled down version of ours (minus stuffing of course). So some turkey, potatoes, carrots etc. Is this a stupid idea.

Usually he just gets a bit of turkey sprinkled over his usual dinner but being completely honest - I’ve bought too much.

Always gave my dogs a full Christmas dinner. We lost our girl in October. She was only 7 and I miss her so much. Definitely give your dogs a dinner if it won't upset them. I wish I could.

Ours always leftovers of dog safe stuff. And I bought a tin of Lily’s Kitchen Christmas lunch. We never fed them tinned dog food but she had surgery in her mouth a few weeks ago and was on soft food for a while and she bloody loves it.

She usually has leftovers of any meat we have and peas. Has a raw carrot every evening. And loves a handful of frozen peas scattered in the floor.

SilverOtter · 20/12/2020 13:52

Of course!🥰

ImRealHonest · 20/12/2020 13:55

Lily’s kitchen tin in the morning

Tea will be a full on Christmas dinner, any bit of it that is dog friendly. They love it.

Neither of them have particular issues with changing food though.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 20/12/2020 13:58

How do I make dog friendly gravy??
Dog will be getting full dinner minus stuffing.

Mommabear20 · 20/12/2020 14:03

Ours get turkey, gravy and a pig in a blanket with a much smaller amount of their normal food

KeepOnKeepingOnKeepingOn · 20/12/2020 14:03

Absolutely, our dogs always get a feast of meat, potatoes and pigs in blankets on Christmas Day and most Sundays too Smile

shitinmyhandsandclap · 20/12/2020 14:04

Yep, ours will be having turkey, veg and gravy mixed in with her dry food. She won't be getting potatoes tho as she's a chubber.

LizzieMacQueen · 20/12/2020 14:23

I'm mean. Nothing other than carrot peel. Which they absolutely love.

SexyGiraffe · 20/12/2020 14:24

No, but they are getting stockings and treats

FlappingPancakes · 20/12/2020 14:41

Ours can already smell the pigs in blankets. Every time we open the fridge and move things around and take out the pigs, he sits and does a very upright sit perfectly still like an army major in the hope that his very best sit might mean one falls into his mouth (it doesn't Grin)

FreshfieldsGal · 20/12/2020 15:07

Yes, turkey, beef, carrots, peas, a roastie, and a pig in blankie. With a little dog friendly gravy.
He also then has the leftover meats over the following days as family won't eat it otherwise.

damnthemanatee · 20/12/2020 15:17

We've ordered a special raw dinner from our supplier. We rarely give them cooked food and definitely nothing like gravy which will be far too salty.

Scattyhattie · 20/12/2020 15:25

Yes they get their own Christmas dinner. Usually salmon fillet or big tinned mackerel, potatoes (non roasted) & whatever veg carrot/broccoli/cauliflower/pea's

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 20/12/2020 15:50

We're veggies so Ddog gets a couple of roasties and some veg mixed with her normal wet food and biscuits, she normally gets that on Sundays anyway. One year we bought her a special lilys kitchen Christmas dinner and it gave her a really bad tum, so now she just has her usual. She'll definitely be participating in the evening cheese board though!!

CherryPavlova · 20/12/2020 16:00

Absolutely not. She's a dog. She has no concept of Christmas and is best/healthiest kept to be to her usual food.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 20/12/2020 16:20

Yabu for your dpets not to know it is Xmas. Do you not sing festive tunes within their earshot???
Shocking...

shinynewapple2020 · 20/12/2020 16:22

Mine gets turkey , potatoes , a bit of veg , a sausage and a bit of gravy .

No quality street or mince pies !

MLMbotsgoaway · 20/12/2020 16:23

Glad I’m not alone - not done it before but we have enough food for 8 and there’s just the two of us!

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 20/12/2020 16:23

No, mine will get a raw skinned rabbit each.

cjpark · 20/12/2020 16:36

Mine will be getting a turkey roast, turkey, potatoes, peas, carrot and some sausages, but then he gets a roast every Sunday!

Floralnomad · 20/12/2020 17:04

Mine has leftovers everyday if there is something suitable so no different at Christmas , he’s not allowed potatoes though as they make him sick . We have just had a practice run but with chicken so he’s just had chicken , pigs in blankets and veg . On the day we have gammon and turkey and he likes both of those , he also loves salmon so will have a starter as well .

JonHammIsMyJamm · 20/12/2020 17:15

No, he’s got a sensitive tum and it’ll go badly for all involved

JonHammIsMyJamm · 20/12/2020 17:17

The cat gets roasted meat though, he loves it and is fine with it

MrsTumbletap · 20/12/2020 19:41

@Dontfuckingsaycheese well now I have to get one of those bowls now! That is too cute. Where do you get it?

Yes mine will get xmas dinner, all of it! She loves broccoli and peas and carrots and meat, so only difference is a little pig in blanket.
