Our dog worships DH as he plays with her - ridiculous games using her toys that only him and her understand the rules of.

I've tried to play and I just get a cocked head as I'm obviously doing it wrong.

There are cartwheels for DH's mum. The dog pesters his dad to sit on his knee and does triple cartwheels for DH's son whenever he visits.

She's pleased to see me...and loves me ...because she loves everyone! I'm a little put out by this but not by much.

Definitely my DH. I'm with our pup all day at the minute due to working from home but the minute DH gets home, it's tail wagging and he practically leaps into his arms!

On a weekend, DH gets up early and I have a lie in. When I come downstairs, our pup comes to say hello but nowhere near as enthusiastic as he does for DH Xmas Grin

sweetleftfoot · 16/12/2020 09:53

Me - cos I give more treats and cuddles [smiles] he also prefers one of my sons from the other

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 16/12/2020 09:53

My bitch only has eyes for DH and FIL. Even though I feed her, walk her, pick up her poo.

My dog only has eyes for me for the same reasons as above, but he's proper velcro dog.

TiersOfAClown · 16/12/2020 09:55

The dog walker.

He needs me and doesn't like it when I go out without him. But he loves her and happily leaves me behind when she comes to call.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 16/12/2020 10:06

I don’t think our dogs have just one favourite!

The older one, I’m the favourite in the house. The pup, DH is the favourite. With the older one, I’m the favourite for cuddles but she only wants to play with DH.

Other favourite people for both of them include the dog walker, the people in the pet shop, the next door neighbour, the vet, the receptionist at the vets, the guy on the market, my mum, MIL (but strangely neither of our dads). For the older one - the postman and someone we know through volunteering and the pup - one of the dog trainers. But both our dogs are very sociable and love getting a fuss. From anyone, they’ve never met a stranger twice. They’re happy when we’re around but they would both be happy to just walk off with someone new without looking back.

Peridot1 · 16/12/2020 10:15

Me as I give her more treats and walk her.

She also loved our old dog Walker and her partner. In fact the dog walker referred to our two labs as her partner’s girlfriends. They followed him everywhere.

Whoateallthestuffingballs · 16/12/2020 10:17

My DH, but we had another dog when our current dog joined the family and I was his favourite, which I loved, so I can't complain!

Tarararara · 16/12/2020 10:20

Me, although DH has been going up the ranks since he's been working from home

changedmynameforChristmas · 16/12/2020 10:25

Dogs are not programmed to behave the same way with everyone. Your dog has a different relationship with you based on your personality.
She sounds super intelligent and also a nice dog to boot.

My dog is glued to me. She goes where I go - the park, my bed, the loo !

It is nice to have such a close and loving friend. She is needy. She needs me :)

Justcashnosweets · 16/12/2020 10:27

Its hard to tell with Ddog, as he loves everybody, but I think he prefers DP as he has always preferred men. Our other dog, who passed away a couple of years ago definitely preferred me and Dd. She was a womans dog 😄

CMOTDibbler · 16/12/2020 10:30

Ddog1 is absolutely and totally ds's dog. He loves us, and some of his other special people, but nothing comes close to his love for his boy.

Ddog2 is my dog, but not as strongly as the ddog1/ds connection

SirVixofVixHall · 16/12/2020 10:32

Me probably. She does love DH and a few other people, but she doesn’t like me going out, whereas she isn’t so bothered when DH is out.
Having said that she will happily jump into the car of the other women she loves and go off with them without a backward glance, so maybe I am fooling myself !
My previous (male) dogs absolutely loved me more than anyone else.

Bloodyfrostycar · 16/12/2020 10:34

OP- are you at home with the DDog more than your DH is?

If so, to put a more positive spin on things perhaps Dog is just more relaxed with you so doesn't feel the need to get over excited in your presence and seek your attention.

SomethingAboutNothing · 16/12/2020 10:41

My dog has the closest attachment with me, will follow me round the house etc. But he is far better behaved for DH. Loves fuss from him and will snuggle with him given the chance but wouldn't dare jump up on him like he does with me. As for my DS, the dog seems to think of himself as a 3rd parent Hmm

BarkHoneyBark · 16/12/2020 10:45

I'm not worried - she has a different way of showing she loves everyone. She's very good at adapting.

We have a special 20 minutes every morning while DH is performing his morning ablutions where the dog snuggles on to the bed with me.

My DH is at home all the time - and he gets a little put out when the dog goes out with his parents for a walk without even a backward glance.

Me. She loves everyone and does happy cries when each person (5 of us) walks through the door.. but I'm her world..

She's my first dog and I had no idea how much love a dog could give. It's quite humbling to be loved so unconditionally ! Needless to say it's mutual!!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/12/2020 10:52

Me. I am his goddess - though obviously, also his slave.

PurplePansy05 · 16/12/2020 10:53

Me. He always cuddles up with me, seeks my attention and comes to me for treats. He loves DH too, but sees him more as his master.

Fortyfifty · 16/12/2020 10:56

DH because he walks her the most. If aim striking her and he calls her, she'll always go, whereas she won't so readily leave him to go to someone else. She seeks out me and DD1 when she needs some gentle tlc as we are the quieter, calmer members of the household, and it dog is vegetal a calm a girl. Dd2 feeds her, so she gets the biggest tail wags and excited response to anyone coming downstairs in the morning or coming home from school.

joystir59 · 16/12/2020 10:57

My DW was my dog's favourite person, but she passed away in July. He is a JRT and very cheeky and playful, and so was she. He loves me and is very loyal, and we are both playing together now but it's been very tough and he is on anti anxiety meds as he can't cope with my anxiety and sadness. I'm thinking I should be on the meds.

ThanksThanksThanks So sorry to hear about your wife's death

Take the meds. If the dog can have them, so can you.

BiteyShark · 16/12/2020 12:25

Mine cries with excitement and does a spaniel wiggle dance when DH comes home from work every day.

He bounces about and is all over the doggy daycarer and doesn't look back as he is so happy to see her.

Me, the person who feeds him, walks him outside of daycare, looks after him, laid with him for many nights when he was ill, all I get is a quick tail wag, an occasional head butt and a quick hello Hmm. I know my place and I am bottom of the list of his favourite people 😭
