Our dog worships DH as he plays with her - ridiculous games using her toys that only him and her understand the rules of.

I've tried to play and I just get a cocked head as I'm obviously doing it wrong.

There are cartwheels for DH's mum. The dog pesters his dad to sit on his knee and does triple cartwheels for DH's son whenever he visits.

She's pleased to see me...and loves me ...because she loves everyone! I'm a little put out by this but not by much.

My DD , who’s 3.

Whitney168 · 16/12/2020 12:32

One of the current pair loves everyone about equally.

The other you would be forgiven for thinking my brother (who lives here) is his favourite, he is very fond of him and has to tell him all about his day when he gets in from work. I think it's familiarity for me breeding contempt though, as I'm here all the time - when I do go away and come back, he's very pleased to see me.

My old girl that I lost last November didn't acknowledge my husband's existence (unless he was feeding her) for the first 8 years of her life. Definitely MY dog.

Previous dogs have been a variation of the above - one definitely mine, liked everyone else but if I was present they might as well not exist. One definitely my husband's. Others family dogs.

I'm not sure if he loves me or dh more but he is more upset when I leave and therefore happy to see me, mainly because I'm with him all day long.

I get all the cuddles, DH the requests to play!

Chocolateandamaretto · 16/12/2020 13:18

My DH. He's utterly devoted and will ignore anyone else to get to DH.

The dog trainer - he loves her.

Our youngest son - I keep finding them asleep together in the dogbed.

It’s fairly similar with all Dogs we’ve had... DP is the one that gets over excitement when he comes in and attention seeking.

I’m the reliable one that they don’t do that with, but I’m the one they automatically come to if they get a fright or feel unwell and I’m the one that’s allowed to do things that require a lot of trust (grooming, medical stuff)

It’s a bit like young kids tbh, lol, DP is exciting, but I’m the one they want to look after them.

My partner, by a long way, even though he wanted to adopt a different rescue dog and I had to fight to get him to agree to my choice.

My dog has my partner wrapped around his little finger, gets treats at every opportunity and sleeps under the duvet next to him (shift worker so often in bed during the day).

When my partner is out I get lavished with attention, but as soon as he is home I may as well be invisible! Bloody dog!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/12/2020 16:24

My dog loves most people, I would say he loves dd and I about equally, he is incredibly loyal and would follow us to the ends of the Earth.

That said he also loves my friend who is not a dog person and looks like this Hmm at him crying with happiness that she's popped over!!

pigsDOfly · 16/12/2020 16:32

One of my daughters.

At home it's just the dog and me and I think she pretty much takes me for granted.

However, from the first moment my dog met my DD she has adored her.

When we both lived in the same town I would just have to tell the dog that we were meeting and her tail would start to wag and she's be studying every woman we passed until we met DD, at which point dog would be ecstatic.

We can't see DD so much at the moment - we've only been able to see her once since before March - and dog was over the moon; so was I come to that.

It has to be said DD is a lovely person but she's a cat person and doesn't really 'get' dogs so I'm not entirely sure why my dog loves her so much; maybe she sees her as a challenge and is waging a charm offensive in an effort to bring her over from the dark side Grin

WeeMadArthur · 16/12/2020 16:35

DDog loves everyone but I’m her favourite by far, she barges DH out of the way to get to me if we come home together. She is very much a Velcro dog, if I get up off the couch so does she, if I go to the loo she tries to jam her snout in the door to join me ( no thanks). DH is WFH and if I go out to the shops he can tell when I’m back because DDog recognises the car engine and sits moaning at the door till I get in. I am the one that feeds, walks pets and talks to her most though, so I have earned it! Our old Ddog was mine too, but I had him before I met DH so he was always going to be mine.

LionLily · 16/12/2020 16:39

Well I don't like to tell dh or ds, but I believe the dog's favourite squeeze is DD's boyfriend. I think this relates to the amount of grated cheese the boy drops when making himself a sandwich.

vanillandhoney · 16/12/2020 17:16

In our household, me. But he loves DH's dad with a passion - probably because he always carries biscuits Grin

TokyoSushi · 16/12/2020 17:22

Different ways here, he loves DH and gets so excited when he gets home, mainly because he does most of the walks and feeds him naughty food.

Me for cuddles, he loves a cuddle with his Mama!

Norwester · 16/12/2020 17:33

Oh, @joystir59, I am so sorry for your loss. Yout wife would be glad to know that you and ddog are some comfort to each other. Flowers

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 16/12/2020 19:44

Whoever is about to walk them...

Go into the hall when they are shut in the kitchen, put your coat on as quietly as you can, clip the dog-walking pouch on in virtual silence, and they will kick off with their adoration from the other side of the door.

Other than that, me, because I am a soft touch about the sofa in the evenings.
