Day 5 of new puppy and I’m wondering what possessed me to go through all this Hmm he’s a little devil at times, most of the time actually with odd moments of cuteness

I could be gone an hour or a minute and he is so excited to see me, its so lovely!

PoleToPole · 06/01/2021 20:30

It really is isn`t it @PugInTheHouse, dogs really are so special.

PugInTheHouse · 06/01/2021 20:39

@poletopole I got really tearful this morning when DH got back from his first walk on his own with him as he said all I have ever wanted is to be able to take a dog for a walk before work. So special!

PoleToPole · 06/01/2021 20:53

That is really lovely @PugInTheHouse Smile. Dogs just seem to bring so much life and joy to a family, there is nothing quite like it Smile.

PugInTheHouse · 06/01/2021 20:54

You are right there @poletopole we couldn't imagine not having him around, even when he's biting our toes haha

PoleToPole · 06/01/2021 20:58

I am sat watching PolePup run around the house having just grabbed a chirstmas cracker hat off my youngest DCs head wanting to be chased (not sure why DC was wearing one <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Confused" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/confused-DVrVQwAF.png">). PoleDog is sat at my feet looking highly amused, he finds Pups antics hilarious and the DC and DH are in fits of giggles chasing PolePup who is having a whale of a time. Grin

PugInTheHouse · 06/01/2021 21:05

Pugpup is chasing a cat toy right now, he is supposed to be going to bed but DS2 who has ADHD and autism fidgets a lot and was unintentially spinning the cats 'mouse on a string' toy around so he's now going crazy!

PoleToPole · 06/01/2021 21:09

Haha! PolePup loves cat toys too, especially the little woven rope/straw mice, they`re the right size for his tiny mouth!

PugInTheHouse · 06/01/2021 21:13

We had some toy mice that were too small and he would put the whole thing in his mouth. He loves the tinsel balls too.

PoleToPole · 06/01/2021 21:35

That`s so sweet, bless him! Grin

blowinahoolie · 07/01/2021 05:21

HooliePup not here yet. Breeder was not happy to part with pup until we have paid balance. Bank closed at 2pm so it was too late by time DH finished work to pay the balance. She only texted her account details at 10.30am yesterday despite us asking since Sunday 😬

Off to bank this morning with 4DC in tow. She explained that in the past a person has paid deposit, she has transferred over chip details then the balance wasn't paid by that person and she had no way of getting her money back by that point. It has happened too to the breeder who recommended her. Didn't think you get people who would stoop that low.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 07/01/2021 06:01

Ah that’s such a shame @blowinahoolie I bet you were really disappointed. We paid ours on the doorstep via bank transfer on our banking apps, is that an option?

blowinahoolie · 07/01/2021 07:30

Georgie a bit disappointed but I completely understand if the situation had been in reverse. Once the money has been transferred, they will bring puppy to us. Should be with us late morning 🤞

PoleToPole · 07/01/2021 12:08

That is so frustrating @blowinahoolie and while I get where shes coming from, pretty crap that she didnt think to sort it beforehand, it must be so disappointing for your DC, and you Sad

PugInTheHouse · 07/01/2021 14:35

We had our first proper training 1:1 session today. Was so pleased with how well pugpup did. She did 'leave it' with him, using a treat in her fist, then with open hand, then on the floor a bit in front of him then right under his nose. He was so good, he made me laugh as a couple of times he went to go for the treat, then sat back down when he remembered he wasn't supposed to. He was great by the end and was looking away from the treat and at the trainer to show he wasn't going to go for it Grin

PugInTheHouse · 07/01/2021 14:36

Hope all is ok and sorted now blowinahoolie. We need more pics i think!!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 07/01/2021 19:49

We have our first training session tomorrow, not really sure what to expect! Feels a bit like parents evening and she might tell me we’ve been doing it all wrong or he’s a star pupil Grin I’m nervous.

PugInTheHouse · 07/01/2021 19:58

Yeah I know what you mean, the trainer seemed really relaxed and asked how he was doing but didn't really criticise anything, I just explained which bits I was struggling with and she told me how we could sort it. We have booked 5 sessions so far, we will be in the garden on Sunday doing more impulse stuff I think then on Tues will go out and do some lead work.

blowinahoolie · 07/01/2021 20:21

Here she is 😍

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 07/01/2021 20:28

Aww she’s super cute 🥰

PugInTheHouse · 07/01/2021 20:33

How old is she? She is gorgeous

HappyThursdays · 08/01/2021 08:45

Aww she has gorgeous eyes!

We have finally cracked recall in the park off lead when HappyPup wants to approach another dog to play. It was our last piece of recall and his hardest one as he loves other dogs and wants to approach every single one but we needed to teach him not to. Went to the park today and there was a woman with a dog clearly on lead and HappyPup looked and crouched down to give the 'play with me' signal but came back straight away when whistled for. It's been a hard nut to crack this one and has taken a while but will mean we can now go to the bigger parks where there are dogs walked who aren't always so friendly.

I am loving this stage but also positively dreading his teenager phase! I really hope he doesn't suffer badly from it! One of his male puppy friends who is a little bit younger has started humping everything. We haven't had that yet but his balls have definitely dropped now.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 08/01/2021 09:08

Please may I join your gang?
Picking pup up on Monday.
Had a much loved, fab dog that died in June but I cannot remember anything about puppy days except trying to get him not to chew everything !
Anyone got tips?

blowinahoolie · 08/01/2021 10:43

She's 12 weeks old PugInTheHouse. Was up at 2am with her but she didn't pee in garden after 15 minutes.... just let her back in....big mistake! Pee in kitchen when I came downstairs at 4am. Will be more on the ball tonight. She didn't want to go in her crate, so we left her to wander around and settled in kitchen herself. Breeder has said it's best to get her used to the crate tonight so will try again...lots of huge learning curves ahead😬

blowinahoolie · 08/01/2021 10:45

Great news Happy Thursday with cracking recall, big step especially when out and about in parks.
