Ok I know this probably belongs in telly addicts but...

That poor little dog who’s owner keeps taking him out in a pram and won’t let him walk and socialise!

Hi @SimonJT yes I agree. And Springers and Cockers (working) can be absolute buggers at that age. And she is angsty isn't she, so I imagine she found it v hard. But you would hope if that had happened you would do everything in your power to find out what went wrong so you didn't repeat the mistakes (even if this was getting someone to help you choose a different breed). I just worry leaving it to hope is really just hoping the dog you get has the right nature and doesn't have a bugger of an adolescence (which a lot do!).

when she was googling what they were like meeting other dogs, it did make you think she hadn't done her homework. Fingers crossed she has done!

EllaFaStorm · 17/12/2020 20:42

cookie is hysterical! not even like whining or crying....like just nah!

cherrypie790 · 17/12/2020 20:48

I'm watching and trying to not scream at the TV.

Anyone who rehomes a dog should be banned from owning another. Ever. That woman is beyond irritating. Fancy letting it off a lead the first time you take it out Shock

Some of these people are just horrific. Most of these puppies are over exercised and over stimulated.

JazzyGeoff · 17/12/2020 20:50

Has this thicko never heard of books... or Google?

SimonJT · 17/12/2020 20:50

Mr Bridger is gorgeous

SimonJT · 17/12/2020 20:53

So she thinks a dog exhibiting completely normal behaviour is aggressive, poor Linus

EllaFaStorm · 17/12/2020 20:54

totally normal

she better not give him up :(

SimonJT · 17/12/2020 20:56

She would have a fit if she saw our dog playing with our neighbours dogs, its like wwe!

Allmyfavouritepeople · 17/12/2020 21:02

@EllaFaStorm

just watching now

my god, giving away your Springer at 8 months because you didn't 'bond' with it and then getting another puppy and 'hoping' it will work

and we wonder why shelters are full of dogs given away :(

To be fair, she didn't get another dog until 13 years later and the dog went to her parents, not some random. Better that, than an unhappy dog in an unhappy house surely? I agree she didn't appear to have done much research.

On the other hand Pheobe's owners getting a cockerpoo when they are retired and want a dog to fit in with them? That makes me angry. They'd be much better off with the tiny lazy dog.

Ccccchanges · 17/12/2020 21:49

Was tonight the last episode? I really wanted an update on how all the pups were doing.

MLMbotsgoaway · 19/12/2020 08:41

Poor Linus - that woman should not have a dog. She’s worried about it becoming aggressive but then let her friends dog jump all over him to the point where he had to “fight back”.

I've finished watching the series now, and I really enjoyed it. What it did really reinforce for me was how adaptable dogs are to the owners they end up with, and all the pups looked happy and contented.
I really liked Louise the behaviourist, and wish they'd had a session with her from the start.

MLMbotsgoaway · 19/12/2020 10:27

@RoSEbuds6 oddly I didn’t think the behaviourist was all that. Sometimes she got it spot on, but sometimes I thought her help was next to useless. I like the channel five guy who wears tweed

OP posts:
RoSEbuds6 · 19/12/2020 11:15

I found her advice on how much sleep puppies need really interesting, I had no idea! (my previous dog was a rescue so have never had a puppy of my own as an adult).
There is so much advice out there as well, I feel like breeders should give away a "how to..." guide to dogs when they sell their pups.
All of those owners seemed to have good intentions, but very little practical knowledge of what to do. I found little Phoebe's first night in that bare crate rather hard to watch, but she actually seemed happy and fine at the end of it all.
I hope that Louise did more behind the scenes than we saw on the programme, and she did have a light touch, but seemed to help the owners see the world through their dog's eyes. I love the tweedy chap on channel 5 - I wonder if he has a book.

MLMbotsgoaway · 19/12/2020 12:28

I actually tried to book the tweedy man - almost £1k but he literally has no availability!

OP posts:
FlappingPancakes · 19/12/2020 13:51

Who was tweedy man

MLMbotsgoaway · 19/12/2020 13:59

@FlappingPancakes sorry got a bit off topic - he’s the dog trainer on a different show on channel 5.

I mentioned him earlier as I think he seems more effective than Louise on this program.

OP posts:
FlappingPancakes · 19/12/2020 14:00

Ah yes I liked him on that programme (I think it was a ch4 one?). I was amazed how quickly his advice worked.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 19/12/2020 14:18

Graeme Hall is the name of the tweedy trainer. I agree, he is very sensible and his solutions to dog problems seem to work well.

MLMbotsgoaway · 19/12/2020 14:28

That’s it Graeme Hall - I just think he seems to actually give people strategies - and I’ve picked up some tips from him. Louise whole lovely doesn’t really give anything concrete- I felt for the girl on the boat - she wanted help to stop the dog barking and Louise just showed her a couple of games. I think I’m a bit jaded as had that with a dog trainer myself - No real advice just going through what’s obviously a Manual of “games to play wit my dogs”

OP posts:
FlappingPancakes · 19/12/2020 15:07

Yes the strategies were excellent. The most amazing one I thought was the dog who was hyper protective in its house and really went for visitors in the house and dogs outside the house.

And his strategy had the dog improving after a few hours. Just incredible really. Because reactive dogs are not the easiest to deal with!

RoSEbuds6 · 20/12/2020 10:21

Ive just seen that Graham Hall has a book coming out in February which I will be getting with any vouchers I might get at Christmas. That's just what I wanted!

RoSEbuds6 · 20/12/2020 10:24

Sorry Graeme Hall and this is a link to Foyles in case you are anti-Amazon.

cheesecrack · 21/12/2020 15:40

On the one hand Linus's owner seemed like she'd put the research in by waiting 7 months and buying from a breeder. Also Bedlingtons are an unusual breed so unlikely to have just got him on a whim.

But then she just sort of flipped into a bit of a thicko. Googling aggression. Not knowing how to introduce him to Mr Bridger... also going to to the park to find random dogs to meet off lead. Seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.
