Just saw these on a wildlife documentary and I want one so much! It would almost certainly trash my house and rip my face off, but... so pretty.

So, so many impractical dog breeds I never knew I wanted Shock

Ddog is part saluki. Absolutely no common sense, or impulse control, or understanding of cause and effect. It's when you combine all that with an ability to run at 35mph that things start to get really interesting.

If we are doing photos, then I am forced to provide a picture of my foster pups Grin

Oh we are definitely doing photos, yes. That's some very effortful sleeping going on there, love the little furrowed brow.

A really big English Mastiff

But not entirely sure about having a dog that's taller & heavier them me ?!

I'd love a White Retriever.

Quite a few dogs I'd like, but if I were to get another one, it would be a cocker spaniel, they're 'me'. It's a feeling I can't describe very well, but they are just 'the one'

Any dog that lives to 30. The great tragedy of dogs is that their lives are so short sad
Yes so true. We’re serial rescuers of oldies, which is so rewarding and they’ve been utterly adorable, the time to say goodbye comes around too quickly. I hate seeing any dogs in rescue but oldies who should be living their last years in peace and quiet in a loving home, too sad, we’ve always been powerless to stop ourselves Grin. My current two are over 13 and 14 now so we’re in the home stretch and every day is a bonus. They’ve all been big dogs but not as big as my dream dog, a Pyrenean. There’s a tiny old lady who lives near us, who walks the most enormous Great Pyrenees. The dog is a real plodder and so calm with such soulful eyes, everyone stops to stroke her, she’s adorable. Maybe one day.....

@JesusInTheCabbageVan it takes a lot of effort to be 8 weeks old! They are such little salukish things

Sunnydaysstillhere · 27/09/2020 10:25

We have a saluki /deerhound - her and dhusky are very well behaved around dcat!!

Ah all you saluki owners are giving me a little hope!

Prufrocks · 27/09/2020 10:36

Any dog is impractical for me as I’m allergic Sad

Apparently basenjis are quite good for people with allergies. I’ve read that they’re loyal but catlike (love that). They also “yodel” instead of bark which is... interesting.

They don’t like the cold or the rain though.

I have a Eurasier and we are often stopped to ask what she is.. which is fine if she's in a good mood but as she's a bigger diva than Maria Carey, she doesn't always want to stop for a chat!

I'd love an Italian Spinone.. they are such big lolloping clowns! Unfortunately my girl is terrified of the ones we see locall!
Pic of my girl.. just because!

I couldn’t handle it myself!

Greyhound. Lazy as all feck and love to cuddle.

Bergerdog · 27/09/2020 11:26

@Howmanysleepsnow

I would say they shed almost constantly. It’s like cotton wool and sticks to you.
They require a fair amount of grooming and seem to collect random things in the fluff. If I go training in a sand arena they will drop sand for days!
They don’t drool but are messy drinkers. Once they have drank it seems to collect in the mouth and fall out around the bowl.
They have huge bear paws so if they stand in something the footprints are massive.
They also tend to lean on walls upside down so i do end up washing walls frequently.
They do love mud and water so invest in a blaster.

They are amazing though!!! Friendly to everyone, don’t require much exersise but will happily walk for hours if you want.
Intelligent, mine does competitive obedience and holds his own!

How long have you been on the list Grin

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/09/2020 11:29

I had mine, a St Bernard. Smooth coat girl. She was stubborn & loopy as a youngster but was fantastic when she matured. Lost her aged 8 to stomach torsion. Broke my heart.

I would adore a Leonberger! I currently have Alaskan Malamutes that sleep upside down 😊

We have an upside down ddog too...

Stellaris22 · 27/09/2020 13:17

Bloodhound or Great Dane. We have a basset hound and I'd love to have a Basset Bleu de Gascogne but they are super rare in the uk.

Howmanysleepsnow · 27/09/2020 13:26

@Bergerdog we’ve only been on waiting lists since earlier this year, so apparently it’ll be late 2021...
Nothing in what you listed that I wouldn’t happily cope with, they’re well worth it!

Scattyhattie · 27/09/2020 13:54

I'd love an Afghan hound they either look beautiful or comical at any moment, but I can barely be bothered to do my own hair.

A dark coated Borzoi, deerhound, Bernese Mountain Dog and a wolf-look dog would also be on my fantasy list.

JustGetThroughTheDay · 27/09/2020 14:04

Welsh springer spaniel Smile

JustGetThroughTheDay · 27/09/2020 14:08

Glen of imaal terrier too but just because they are so rare.

MothershipG · 27/09/2020 14:12

I have a fake rare black meerkat, I quite like a real one (but I know real ones aren't pets 😏)

*I'd

GoldenPlover · 27/09/2020 14:15

St Bernard for me! Star

ThatLibraryMiss · 27/09/2020 15:02

I would love a black and tan hovawart, but (1) they're hard to come by in the UK and (2) I'm not in a place in my life for a big active dog. They are so beautiful, and the one I knew had a wonderful temperament.
