Here we go, hero puppy owners.

We've just got back from the vet where I was shocked to discover he now weights 4kg. Little lump! He's 19 weeks old tomorrow. Wonder how big he'll get? On a miniature poodle group I'm in the adults are anywhere between 6-12kg. I hope he's small as easier to carry about!

Thank you all for this thread as its been incredibly helpful. We lost our 19 year old Jack Russell earlier this year and are about to become puppy owners again - we pick her up on Saturday morning.

I have used the thread to buy everything we need and also to refresh my memory regarding the tiny terrorists that puppies can be. My DC have all flown the nest so I suspect I'm going to find this puppy harder work as my DH is also away Monday to Friday. But our dogs have also given us much love over the last 30/40 years so here we are again

My toy poodle is a little lump too jucieey. He’s 9weeks and 1.7kg. Tiny in real terms but big for his age. Plus he’s so fluffy he’s pretty much round!

Been watching the last two, but our pup is coming home on the 28th August! He is a miniature poodle too Juiceey and last night at 3weeks 3 days he weighs more than 1kg already I suspect he is going to be a bigger one like his daddy!

Our 5 month old labrador is 15kg so i'm laughing at all these "lump" references for your tiny pups

@LBee2020 Glad it’s not just me - GingerPup is over 11kg at 24 weeks! I think she should be about three quarters grown by now? So hopefully won’t end up too much bigger

May I join you please? We will be bringing home our working Cocker pup on 7/8, when he’ll be 8 weeks. I’ve read all of the last thread and although we’re very excited, he will be our first dog, so we’re nervous too. Just want to get it right for him!!!

I was just about to say the same! Ours is already 8kg at 11 weeks and she's meant to turn out to be on the smaller side of the lab scale!!!

Our cocker spaniel is 15 weeks old and weighs 7.6kg now. He weighed 3.5kg when we got him! He's a lovely, cuddly, active, friendly wee thing, and a joy to us all. He is a bit over attached to me, but I'm working on it, as I'll be going back to work in two weeks. Have been at home with him since the 13th of June!

He's at puppy club just now, waiting for him to come home. He hated it last time, but he's a more confident boy now, so thought it was worth another try. When he meets other dogs he really wants to play.

Thanks for the new thread @Juiceey. DPup (a mix of spaniel and staffy types) is about 9.5kg at 16 weeks. She's a fair lump now and getting more difficult to pick up out of her pen as she's all legs at the moment.
We had a lovely moment this afternoon where we both napped on the sofa after her lunchtime walk. Not looking forward to my return from furlough next week

Lovely to have new people joining us now. Muckypup had a great walk this afternoon and then found a mud puddle as we were just about to get in the car, so stood in it. It was so disgusting I hosed him down in the garden when we got back - finally I think I've found something he dislikes! No ill effects and he fell fast asleep. @polkadotpjs your poo behind the sofa made me laugh! Mind you, Mucky isn't even allowed in the room with the sofa yet, so could still happen here.

We have the vets tomorrow as Mucky seems to have an ear infection and it's looking a bit manky. Good we could get in quickly though. If he weighs Mucky I can then join in the weight discussion. He is a great big thing!

@grannycake what sort of pup are you getting? We found it quite hard to adjust from having an elderly dog to having a puppy as you are doing, but I think it's easier to be consistent if it's just you doing things most of the time. Good luck for the weekend!

Hello everyone. My 14 week working lab pup is weighing in at a hefty 10kgs. I’m hoping her rate of growth will slow down soon. I wanted a dog not a race horse

They're all getting so big! MarmitePup is home from Puppy Club, it was much more of a success than last time. He's exhausted now!

@muckandnettles we're having a Border Terrier. We thought long and hard about this. I'm 64 so this could be our last pup. In the past we have had a springer, a border collie and two jack Russell's. My DH grew up with dogs and he and his father trained search and rescue dogs.

However we are getting older but are still very active. We (pre Covid) travelled a lot in our motorhome and expect to increase that once retired. A bigger dog would take up too much space but a really small dog wouldn't be able to join us hillwalking or running.

I'm lucky to be working from home at the moment and possibly next year as well so we'll see how it goes

Smileypup is currently curled up on the sofa with DS whilst i bath DD's i gave up chasing him off everytime i went back in he was back up again.

Hi can i join you exhausted puppy slaves, we had our 14 week old pug now for just over a week, she's settled in great but the cat may never recover from the trauma.
