Is your dog a morning person?

Our puppy wakes up for a pee about 6.30 then settles back till we go down for breakfast about 8. Not interested in breakfast. Likes a game in the garden about 9.

Mine was is the same. Even during lockdown she is happy to sleep all morning. She is now 11 months old and shows no signs of activity until 2pm.

Old guy = sleeps
Young dog has an internal alarm that she sets for anywhere between 5.45 and 6.20.

Fortunately we are early risers.

Mine likes a long lie, AND is zonked out for the night around 8pm. It's great! She is full of energy on walks or when playing but the rest of the time pretty low key (she's 2.5)

My dogs don't get up til lunchtime. (They are 14 and 9 though)

Wakes around 5am. Take out for pee as Dog says really urgent. Stagger around for ten minutes or so, dog doesn't pee. Twenty mins later, gotta go now, urgent. Another ten min stagger. Doesn't pee. Repeat at intervals till around 7.30am. Have to go out each time in case he really needs it and isn't just having a laugh at my expense. Again. I think he hates me

Labrador usually starts looking for breakfast at about 9.

Chihuahua will snooze until lunchtime unless disturbed.

This is lockdown routine though and it was all very different when we were all out of the house by 8am, the morning routine included dog breakfast and short walk before about 7.

I much prefer this slower pace, it’s one of the few benefits of lockdown.

Nope he gets up for a wee and poo around 8am, sometimes has a bit of breakfast, then goes back to sleep until lunchtime.

He is nearly a year old.

Mine will sleep until about 8am but is always ready to go if I get up earlier than that. He likes activity first thing so I tend to pull on my walking boots and head straight out the door, before anything else.

It also suits me - I know that whatever else happens that day he has had, at least, one good walk. Though we amost always go out again around lunchtime.

Come 8:50pm and he starts nagging me that it's time to go to bed

Nope. He hates getting up and will stay in DDs bedroom as long as possible.

Mine is 8, she lies in bed until about 10 then gets up and does her dog yoga (downward dog and cobra - really!) then has a big sneeze and she's ready for the day.

Mine wakes up at five because that’s the time DH gets up on weekdays. She’d be delighted to get breakfast at five but has to wait until seven thirty, or she’d be squeaking for her dinner from midday onwards. After breakfast she spends an hour or so patrolling the garden or playing with her toys, then she tends to flake out for a couple of hours until she needs a wee again.

Mine will happily stay in bed (ideally a human one) until lunchtime, doesn't even want to go in the garden - if he needs to be left in the morning you have to drag him down the road on a lead (he won't bother going through the patio door!)

Mines up at 7.30 for a wee. He’s happy to wait until the afternoon for exercise though

Yes but I am a early riser .In Summer we often out at 5am for a walk 7.30 ish in Winter
.But come 6pm he is flaked out and she him about 9 for quick walk round block for wee .He be 6 this year

I wake mine when I get up, they have to go out to wee. They then get a treat then go back to bed unless it's the two days my husband gardens up at t'big ouse. Then bigger dog is ready to leave straight after his treat even though DH will still be in bed for a couple more hours. The days change every week so I have no idea how big dog knows but he does.

Other dog doesn't go to work so sleeps until lunchtime and comes to life for a while.

They are both 14.

Mine is a lazy arse! 6 years old and will stay in bed until late morning most days.
Loves her walk but mostly spends her days looking for beds or laps to snooze on!

My dog is still in bed. He's not yet 5.

Mine get up when we do at 7am, outside to the loo and then start ramming the back door for their breakfast.

Then they're straight back to sleep for a few hours and are currently snoring away on my bed! They're not bothered about walks until mid afternoon either.

Mine's 2.5 and will happily fit around whatever we're doing. DH is up for work at 6 so he normally gets up then, but when he leaves he comes back to bed and will happily sleep until 8-8.30.

In the evenings he's asleep by 8-8.30pm and he often sleeps a good 6/7 hours a day. That said, on walks he has plenty of energy and if someone initiates play with him he will happily play for ages.

Mine used to be. Now (nearly 2) he's adjusted and won't wake us up at silly o'clock. He'll stay next to/on our bed and snooze until one of us noticeably wakes up (regardless of whether it's an early morning for work or a lazy Sunday), but as soon as he sees one of us on our phone or sitting up he's suddenly wide awake and wanting to give morning cuddles. Once he's been outside he comes back in and snoozes again. His super energetic tearing around the garden phase has always been reserved for the afternoon (usually when I'm on a work call!)

Lol. I go back to bed with my cup of tea after they've been fed.

We have a cockapoo and everyone said they’ve tons of energy. So we decided we would take him for a morning and evening walk (time adjusted for age). He was absolutely disgusted with the morning walk. Refused to move from the driveway so we gave up. He loves his evening walk. He usually gets up at 6 to pee then sleeps till 8. Breakfast and playing fetch etc until around 9 then back snoozing.

We have a Greyhound, he's a lazy bastard. He'll happily sleep most of the day and he's only 3 😆

Dpuppy is 7 months. She goes for a wee at 630 and back to bed (ours!) still here now!!

Our dog gets up for a wander around 6ish and then wakes my husband up. She is very very insistent that he gets up and as soon as he does she takes herself straight back to bed and doesn't move until her breakfast at 8.

She doesn't want to go out or anything, we think she sees it as her job to make sure he is awake and once he is up her job is done. He works from home. He does not have to keep office hours. He does not need to be up by 7 and he does not want to be up by 7. He's been woken up by 7 almost everyday for 7 years now

She tried this nonsense with me when we first rescued her. It worked for a few days until we worked out she doesn't need to go outside. Then I started telling her to go back to bed and rolling over and going back to sleep. She gave up in under a month, I did tell my husband that is he keeps getting up she'll keep doing it...
