Is your dog a drama queen?

Mine has just come in from the garden screaming... I do mean screaming, thern ran round the room in a blind panic.
Up we all jumped in a panic.. had she somehow cut herself? had a fox got in and attacked her?

No. She had a nugget of poo stuck to her bum fur.

(She is now sulking as we decided that as she was overdue a shower anyway we might as well do it now... I have a sulky and slightly soggy doggy who smells of baby powder dog shampoo....)

Our cocker is a total bull-in-a-china-shop about everything, but our old boy, who was a lurcher-collie cross, was the most unbelievable drama queen ever. Walking him down the pavement one day, he started doing the Lurcher Scream of Death while spinning wildly on the lead, holding his front leg out at such an angle that I honestly thought he'd somehow spontaneously broken it. When I managed to calm him down enough to have a look, he had a paper lolly-stick stuck to his paw. Another time on a walk he came running over to us on three legs looking terrified. He had a wet leaf stuck to his paw. He was the most fabulous dog, but my God, he was not stoic!

We had to cross the road the other day because there was a terrifying glove on the pavement 🙄

Screaming you say? Not a greyhound by any chance? Our greyhound regularly screams at some perceived danger and it gets us all running to her aid immediately with worried expressions, soothing words and ready to help her. Which is usually met immediately with the equivalent of a head flick and strutting off as of to say ‘what is wrong with you all?, I’m fine. Fools’

I have lurchers, and ddog1 is your total drama queen sighthound stereotype who won't walk through mud and screeches at a leaf stuck to him. He'll also very mildly hurt a paw and then forget which leg he's supposed to have hurt and randomly limp on all of them. He does a good line in pathetic cold dog too

Haha I was just about to say lurchers/greyhounds are known for being sensitive and all you owners have just confirmed it

Loch She’s our first greyhound, we were duped , I thought she was going to give me a nervous breakdown when we first got her! We’ve had six Labradors, past and present, and let’s just say, we’d got used to a more stoic sort of dog

Whippet x Mali slave here. God forbid it's raining that needs woofing at , along with wind, birds, trucks and kids on scooters . But the wind blowing a plastic bag stuck in a bush needed an extra wide birth and a growl. Always hurting her pads/paws/legs and forgets which one so does a four legged limp. She's also scared of small dogs. Oh and found out yesterday that sheets on the washing line are also very scary. The list could go on to include bin bags, bins in general, mobility scooters and high viz jackets .... thought a Mali was a tough dog

I have the most dramatic basset hound in the world when it comes to anything medical, I didn't know it was possible for dogs to scream until I got her. She is famous in the vets for yelling her head off and screaming at the most basic of procedures (nail clip etc).

My old boy (springer cross) is the biggest drama queen I’ve ever known. If he’s a little on the chilly side he will shiver to the point he’s almost vibrating rather than shaking. The first time he did it was just after we got him when he was 18 months old. I’d just showered him and took him out to the garden for a wee before drying him, I genuinely thought I’d given him hypothermia. I rushed him to the vets, who very kindly (with only a hint of a smile) told me that despite the theatrics (vibrating, shuddery breathing, whimpers, AND A LIMP!) it was highly unlikely that 5 damp minutes in the garden in June would cause hypothermia.

He also once lay on the ground screaming and refusing to walk because a carrier bag caught in the wind hit him on the arse. We were 2 miles from home, so in the end I had to get 2yo ds out of his buggy, strap the dog in and get ds on the buggy board. He whimpered and shook all the way home. It was so pathetic people were actually stopping to take photos of us.

We had a spaniel she was dramatic to say the least I would walk her and there were dogs behind six foot gates who would bark occasionally I had to drag the dog to a certain point then she would drag me past I walked her the other way in the end

Yup, he has this annoying whine he does a lot of the day. If he’s cuddling he needs to hold a paw. He’s 25kg and iv carried him home multiple times because something random has scared him. I find him besotted with the wildlife in our garden mostly rabbits and hedgehogs. I swear my other two dogs are so embarrassed with him 😂. We think he’s fabulous

Oh and he hates dogs, all dogs. Even our own dogs, the other 2 snuggle and love each other & play. He watches. He would rather play the with kids & do human things. We can take them all to the dog park and everyone’s having a great time and he’ll only care about the people. He also sleeps with the cats in the house 😂

My last lurcher was terrified of of flies, numerous times I came running to see why he was screaming only to find him hyperventilating in a corner because a fly was in the room. The only way to persuade him back in the room was to kill the fly and show him the body, otherwise he'd have the big scared eyes and refuse to go back in for hours!

She passed away last year, but my otherwise perfect dog would act as though she were melting if she had to go potty out in the rain. She would then sit in the kitchen and whine until she was properly dried off with a towel.

Ha loving these stories. I have a rough tough JRT who pretends to be unconscious if asked to go out for a wee when it is dark/windy/rainy/inconvenient. Literally lies motionless and floppy and remains apparently lifeless even when picked up, if you try and put her the right way up she won't lock her legs and just crumples. The only way to revive her is to shake the treat tin 😀

We lost our youngest a month ago to a negative reaction to her booster jag & she was also a bit of a diva. If she was cuddling someone and looked asleep if the dogs or cats walked past she’d let out a growl without even opening her eyes.

One of mine gave an oscar-winning performance at the sight of a lollipop man yesterday, much to the amusement of the many small children in the area! My other one just randomly drops to the floor, flat out, playing dead, in the street. To the point that people come out from their houses offering water or assistance. She loves the random attention she gets, and promptly jumps up, takes a bow, thanks the audience and carries on, on her way. 🙃

I've got a lurcher. I love him most enormously but it's like living with the heroine of a Victorian melodrama. Talk about 'my tiny paw is frozen....'

That is ddog1 down to a t Enid. He does a lovely line in reclining on a sofa wilting away too.

We have a greyhound..... the shivering when cold/wet is something to behold. Everyone was looking at me like I was some kind of dog abuser when we got caught in a hail shower picking up the kids from school once .

This is the best!! My dog is still a puppy so everything is a drama! I have loved reading all your comments. Very funny

We are just a source of constant disappointment to our dog, she eye rolls us and does dramatic sighs.
