My dog loves tissues! What's your dogs strange weakness?

She is obsessed with them. She will rifle through pockets looking for them. If you have a paper napkin on your lap she will sneakily remove it. She will pick tissue up in the street given half a chance. They are like gold dust to her.
Does your dog have any strange fancies?
Pic is of one she removed from my pocket while I was reading...

my ddog likes the rubbery bit from inside manky old tennis balls that get left behind over the fields/parks. Given half the chance he will eat the whole thing!

cheeseislife8 · 20/08/2019 13:58

Socks! Preferably worn. Little weirdo

Linseedlill · 20/08/2019 13:59

Slippers - they have traditional tastes!

MaureenSowerbutts · 20/08/2019 14:00

His own poo! No one prepared me for that when I said I was getting a dog...no one.

He's not as bad as he used to be but jesus christ it's vile.

QOD · 20/08/2019 14:01

The inner card from a
Toilet roll. She has to be given it too. Won’t help herself. So she stands and ‘ufffs’ until you get one out of the bin and hand it over

TheRLodger · 20/08/2019 14:03

Tissues will actually riffle through pockets you’re wearing to get to them
Zips many a handbag or coat now doesn’t have a zip on it
Socks
Pens - she was very much in the dog house when she chewed a black permanent marker on mums brand new cream carpet

RippleEffects · 20/08/2019 14:04

Mine is a tissue lover too. I'd never come across it before. If one goes in the waste basket she'll dig everything else out to get a tissue to shread.

TheRLodger · 20/08/2019 14:04

Oh and feathers walks around on a walk looking like Yankee Doodle

missbattenburg · 20/08/2019 14:05

Socks. Worn and then put on your hand like a sock puppet and made to 'speak'.

Sends him bonkers.

Little freak.

longearedbat · 20/08/2019 14:06

@MaureenSowerbutts - mine is a poo eater as well (her own I mean). I have studiously tried to ignore it when it happens (not often if I can help it), and she is losing interest now at 2 and a half. It's disgusting, isn't it? Cries of 'fgs, don't let the dog lick you, she's just eaten a turd' !

Ours use to love worn socks take them then hide them .. even had a pair he took to bed and brought down every morning😆

MellowMelly · 20/08/2019 14:12

Mine is also a tissue thief! Cardboard and sticklebricks are also top of her list and god help anything that my grand daughter gives her, that gets chewed too....as of this morning I’m two toothbrushes down thanks to those two!

longearedbat · 20/08/2019 14:14

@missbattenburg - sad to say, mine has a small collection of hand puppets. I do wonder if they actually realise it's your hand inside bringing it to life. Sooty has never had such a mauling as when I'm wearing him on my hand. God knows what Sweep would think (I also think I probably spend far too much time playing silly games with my dog.)

So happy to hear i am not the only person shouting that at the DC!

Mine is almost two and a half as well and seems to be losing interest but again maybe because like you we make sure he doesn't get the chance.

The sight of my gorgeous new puppy doing that for the first time is something I will never forget!

missbattenburg · 20/08/2019 14:22

@longearedbat I genuinely don't know why I never thought of getting actual hand puppets! Grin

Someone's going to have a great Christmas round here....

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 20/08/2019 14:58

Whatever the parrot is eating. She sits under his cage and waits for manna to fall from heaven.

squee123 · 20/08/2019 15:01

I have a tissue eater too. He is obsessed with them.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/08/2019 15:11

Mine likes tissues too. Disturbingly, he is particularly fond of them if I've had a nosebleed.

Apparently you can put dogs off autocopraphagia by feeding them some pineapple. I've never had cause to try it. Ddog was partial to sheep poo (in particular, I think, lambs) when he was younger, but not his own. He grew out of it, fortunately.

saltysow · 20/08/2019 15:27

Any underwear. He steals my knickers from the washing basket 😅

MaureenSowerbutts · 20/08/2019 15:58

@ErrolTheDragon yes pineapple is supposed to work and we tried that early on. Made no difference in DDogs case, good job he's cute!

DuchessDarty · 20/08/2019 16:32

Knickers and tissues
(which sounds like the name of a 90s chicklit novel)

FrenchyQ · 20/08/2019 16:52

My little dog loves tissue too and will go through your pockets/handbag etc to find some to shred,

Big dog is a poo eater too, think he's getting better as he gets older, I'd never seen a dog do it tho, so was completely grossed out the first time I saw him do it

fleshmarketclose · 20/08/2019 19:42

Bella likes those detergent balls that you put in the washing machine. If one falls out when I'm emptying the washer or dryer she claims it for herself. She currently has half a dozen on the go.

Ylvamoon · 20/08/2019 22:16

Dish cloth & sponges, YlvaDog#4 will go to great length to obtain the desired objects. Think small dog, huge jumps!
Nothing, absolutely nothing that is left out in the open is safe.

pigsDOfly · 20/08/2019 23:38

Tissues and kitchen roll are the only things my dog will make a point of getting hold of.

I can leave food on the table beside the sofa and leave the room, it will still be there untouched when I come back. If I leave a tissue there she will leap up and steal it as soon as my back's turned and be on the floor trying to eat it.

Having said that she's very good at dropping them when told.
