My dog loves tissues! What's your dogs strange weakness?

She is obsessed with them. She will rifle through pockets looking for them. If you have a paper napkin on your lap she will sneakily remove it. She will pick tissue up in the street given half a chance. They are like gold dust to her.
Does your dog have any strange fancies?
Pic is of one she removed from my pocket while I was reading...

We have a tissue-lover too. He's also partial to a sheet or two of A4. I no longer have a waste paper basket in my study and have to remove litter as I go.

He's gorgeous though, and melted my heart a bit when he pinched his Daddy's stinkiest trainer and took it into his basket at bedtime. When I said goodnight, he was snoring away with his nose right beside it!

Girlintheframe · 21/08/2019 04:36

Tissues especially toilet roll! Keep explaining to him that he isint an Andrex puppy! Used snotty tissues are a favourite too.
Pegs, worn pants and sheep's poo are a particular delicacy as well.

Spidey66 · 21/08/2019 11:39

The washing machine. She runs to it when she sees you carrying dirty washing, watches you fill the machine, closes the door with her nose, then intermittently watches the machine go round. When she hears the buzzer indicating the cycle has ended, the excitement starts again.

She is also interested in the tumble dryer but not as much as she can't see the clothes going round.

She has a weird fascination for the vacuum cleaner, and keeps pouncing on it as it's being used.

She is obsessed with bubbles, and will play with them for hours. We had to buy a bubble machine cos her demands for us to blow endless bubbles were wearing us out.

She used to be sock obsessed but has grown out of that one.

Oh and I went to the loo an hour ago. I must have got dressed half asleep and/or in the dark. My knickers had been ripped to shreds by the dog. My mum always told me to wear decent knickers in case of accident. I had to run out and buy another pair.

Moondancer73 · 21/08/2019 13:02

Tissues for mine too, along with a nice roll of sellotape and a cardboard tube if he's really lucky

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/08/2019 13:07

My boy loves the cats Dreamies and will steal them any chance he gets. Apparently a lot of dogs like them. He also loves digging holes which is why my back garden is a bit of a health hazard! Lol

SweetNorthernRose · 21/08/2019 13:09

Yep tissues, wrapping paper, toilet roll tubes, anything he can rip into shreds really. He must pull the squeak and stuffing out of any toy he owns, then shred the stuffing into tiny pieces.
He's also a poo eater. Not his own, but he's partial to sheep, cow and horse crap.
Plastic bottles is another one.

60minutemakeunder · 21/08/2019 13:10

Empty marmite jars. He takes them to bed, greets you at the door with one when you get home, and wants to take them on walks.

60minutemakeunder · 21/08/2019 13:12

He also used to move shoes around the house, very annoying as you could never find a pair! Luckily he grew out of that.

makingmyway10 · 21/08/2019 13:15

My 16 week old puppy likes socks, worn ones! Also bras from the washing basket too. She is sooo pleased with herself if she manages to steal one!

greenwaterbottle · 21/08/2019 13:22

Tissues, loo roll inners, his own eye gunk...

longearedbat · 21/08/2019 13:24

@drizzle of honey - you just reminded me; we had to replace our bins with lidded ones to stop the dog pinching tissues and paper out of them. The crunch came when she removed a piece of card I had been using as a pallette for acrylic painting (unseen by me, obviously) and I found acylic paint smeared everywhere. Fortunately she hasn't worked out how to operate the lids...yet.

Toilet rolls and knickers are her favourite.

Also, horse poo. Absolutely obsessed. My daughter has horses, dog spends a lot of time at our yard. She eats a lot of horse shit. She seems to think the full wheel barrow is some sort of open buffet

183fredamarleymum · 21/08/2019 15:08

Our boy likes cardboard, kitchen roll ,we use as tissues. Plastic bottles, chews the cap, plastic ham containers, toilet roll cardboard. Chews happily on my tupperwear container and had a go at a paint brush yesterday. His mission in life is to rid this planet of plastic. We love him but is a bit of a funny Mick.

Kayjay2018 · 21/08/2019 19:43

@longearedbat another sock fiend here (our little rescue) It's great when you drop them on the way to the washing machine as he brings them to me! Though sometimes I find them getting rained on in the garden. His current record is 4paira in his mouth at any time.

Our Doberman has a sucky blanket, she literally lays on it, pulls a chunk up and lays chewing/sucking it. Seems to be her calm down in the evening on when she wants to nap. Apparently it's quite a common Doberman thing!

saaagp · 21/08/2019 21:39

My dog also loves tissues, he rips them into tiny shreds. Same with plastic bags.

SistersOfPercy · 22/08/2019 15:19

Egg custard tarts. Only Tesco brand.

People laugh until they actually see the reaction. He is obsessed with them. We think he can tell from the box colours as other brands don't get the same reaction.
DH will ask him if he wants to share an egg custard whereby he'll run to the fridge then follow DH and sit until he shares the pastry around the edge. It's so bad we have to refer to them as EC because he knows the words.

NemoIsLost · 23/08/2019 09:59

My big butch chunky Lab lives nothing better than prancing about with a tissue in his mouthGrin He actively searches for them

His second fave thing is beating me to the washing machine and stealing the socks and pants

MadCap · 23/08/2019 10:05

Cello tape and pens. He's the size of a horse too. Will let you take food right out of his mouth, but god help you if you try to take away his office supplies.

Maybe he was a secretary in a past life.

Razzlefrazzle · 23/08/2019 10:07

Another tissue eater here. Cheaper than her previous obsessions of stealing and burying socks!

OpheliaTodd · 23/08/2019 10:11

Mine used to steal socks til I taught him a retrieve to hand.

Now he still steals them but rather than take them and chew them, he takes them briefly and then returns to parade the sock proudly past me, to and fro until I ask him for it back.

In hindsight I should have taught him not to take it in the first place 😁
