DH loves Ddog more than us (his family)

DH asked me to stay up tonight so that I can observe him tuck up the puppy as I don't do it properly. He is being serious, apparently she needs to be in her bed (den like cosy) within the crate, BUT she also needs a blanket to be tucked over and around her.

This is really lovely and very sweet. We all love the puppy, but seriously! He's never even tucked the kids in with such tlc!

He also insists that she prefers classic fm and he buys her new treats almost every day and generally worships her as a goddess.

Is he mad or is he turning into an elderly drench woman? Please reassure me with your stories of OTT dog care - it's worse than PFB!

What breed?! Who tucks in a dog...

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 29/05/2019 22:16

Er, my DH does, I don't wrap them up enough...

Tbh I've said joked that I love my Ddog more than DH Blush

We choose her a good programme to watch before we leave the house, something that's not likely to have gunshots in, so that she's not lonely

MsMustDoBetter · 29/05/2019 22:16

A poodle cross.

That's quite French isn't it?

Maybe you need to invest in a man sized cage for next to ddog??

ilikemethewayiam · 29/05/2019 22:17

Awwwww, that’s really adorable! Lol!

anonforthespies43267 · 29/05/2019 22:19

I’m the same with my dogs, I’ll spend 15 min telling the dogs how much I love & miss them when I go out and just say bye to my DH. He knows he comes second to the dogs, he just accepts it now. He’s almost as bad as me with them though. I just admit I love them more whereas he pretends he loves me more...

DuchessDarty · 29/05/2019 22:19

This is hilarious. I sing Twinkle Twinkle to DartyPup every night at bedtime. To be fair though, I did also sing it to the children. The only night DH has had to put her to bed, even I came in I asked if he’d sung Twinkle. He had. Wink

UrsulaPandress · 29/05/2019 22:19

We need a photo.

Of the puppy. Not your DH.

But personally I find that quite endearing. Animal welfare comes first in our house.

RikGrimesIsMyFavourite · 29/05/2019 22:20

That's lovely! 😍

Xmasbaby11 · 29/05/2019 22:23

I'm not a dog lover so that all seems ridiculous to me! We have a cat but I think that's different as she's very independent. Harmless though if you both love the dog.

RitaTheBeater · 29/05/2019 22:26

Ridiculous carry on. My dog sleeps in my dh’s arms so he doesn’t have to tuck any blankets in.

adaline · 29/05/2019 22:29

We're both the same in our house Blush

Dog gets tucked into his blankets and gets a small fortune spent on him in the pet shop!

DuchessDarty · 29/05/2019 22:29

Rita Grin

OP I also have a poodle cross. Does your DH do a French tuck? Wink

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 29/05/2019 23:23

Bless him.

Mind you, the low maintenance option is just to lift up the edge of the duvet and let the dog crawl underneath and hence tuck herself in next to your legs Wink

Whisky2014 · 29/05/2019 23:24

Actually id be concerned about it overheating.

SqueakyPigs · 29/05/2019 23:39

This is a lovely thread - a lucky dog!

hesagooddog · 30/05/2019 01:54

My dh is a bit like this. I know he actually loves us more. But he is flipping ridiculous with the dogs. One of them is attached at the bloody hip to him.

adaline · 30/05/2019 07:42

Actually id be concerned about it overheating.

Why? The dog will move if it's uncomfortable. Mine often starts the night buried under the duvet next to me, then removes himself because it's too hot.

BiteyShark · 30/05/2019 07:48

DH picks BiteyDog up and carries him like a big baby to bed most nights so he doesn't have to walk to bed Grin

FrangipaniBlue · 30/05/2019 07:51

DH picks sleeping FrangipaniPup off the sofa and carries him to bed and "tucks him in" every night like a toddler

(FrangipaniPup is a 22.5kg Bull Terrier)

NotAgainKen · 30/05/2019 11:22

DH and I both carry the dog up and down the stairs to/from bed, as he's getting a bit stiff with arthritis last thing at night/first thing in the morning. The dog proudly pretends it's not happening.

Hecketyheck · 31/05/2019 10:14

Yup, my DH too. He said to the dog the other day, in a slightly menacing way I thought, "you know if Heckety was dead I'd have you on the bed every night, don't you?"

Honeyroar · 01/06/2019 02:54

Hmm. Can't really comment! This is my three. In my defence we live in a 300yr old farmhouse and it's freezing in our kitchen in winter. I work away regularly and give my husband a reminder to tuck them in when I'm away! (we only do it in winter, but they still get a goodnight tickle each).
