Does your ddog have best ( doggy) friends.?

Mine has a few dogs he is friendly with but his best friends are 1- his litter mate that we see weekly. They get soooooo excited to see each other.
2 A young dog of a friend. Gets away with murder with ddog, climbs all over him , takes his ball ect but ddog just lets him . Again is insanely happy to see him.

Our fence is porous so ddog has next doors canine for company but I would describe the relationship as dominant, my ddog is definitely in charge - they go off fox hunting together and to chase cats, ddog also steals ndn dogs dinner regularly and vice versa!

Now we've moved we don't see the same dogs often enough for him to have best friends, but in our old home he used to have a chihuahua cross that he loved. The flip side of it was that he also had a few doggy enemies that he hated with a passion!

My parents have a Golden retriever who is 7 years older, and they are pretty inseperable when they get together. There are also several other labs that walk on the bridle way at the same time as us so she gets a good run/play.

Yep - his best pals ever are a bedlington terrier, a golden retriever who is about four times his size, and a brown cockapoo!

My dog is quite aloof and isn't bothered by many dogs, but there are one or two who she gets super excited about and will play for ages with!

My old labx gsd had a mortal enemy who lived down the road, a male gsd. Both hated each other and if one was in the park, the other couldn't be without some sort of barking match or a scrap. Once he noticed when we drove past their house that he was in the neighbour's drive (I didn't see anything) As soon as i let him out of the car he raced down the road to have a fight with him. The two looked so pleased with themselves once we'd eventually separated them......

Yes, one of his litter mates who ended up living in the same village despite being a four hour drive from their foster home. He pulled his lead out of our friend’s hand and ran across a field to get to her the first time we met when they were about 8 months old.

He also loves a black lab he met at his dog walker. If he finds a fresh scent of him (or of his sister) in the woods he is off like a tracker dog. Only times he won’t come back when called. His pal does the same.

He is friendly with all dogs, but seems to particularly like labs, spaniels and other staffies best. I think because they play in a similar way. He gets really upset and nervous with unneutered dogs who are over-amorous and pushy. He loved my old cat but I got a rescue cat recently who had only just been neutered and still had high testosterone levels for a week or two and he really didn’t like him to begin with. Luckily they have settled now.

When my girl was an only dog she was hopelessly besotted with a gorgeous blonde whippet called Alfie. He was the only dog she would play with for long times when we met. All other dogs just get a sniff and a wag and then on her way.

We moved house so we don't walk them in the same area any more, very occasionally when driving we'll see Alfie and his owner and I always want to stop and set up a play date. I don't, I'm sure Alfie's owner would think I'm crazy 😂

Ddog2 is best friends with all puppies. He just loves them. Older dogs just seem to want to hump him. Poor boy.

My dogs best mate in daycare is an extremely long legged greyhound (my dogs legs are barely 6 inches long)

She loves him SO much, spends her entire time trying to catch him when he goes for the ball and when the playing is done they cuddle up together

We're convinced she thinks she's going to grow as tall as him when she's older

Yes, his best pals are a lab that goes with the same walker sometimes and a smaller lab-type dog we meet on a walk occasionally.

Both live in the village so if he even catches just a sniff of them from a walk they may have done earlier in the day, he goes mad trying to find them.

Our old, female JRT always, always, always flirts with poodles. Nothing but poodles. Any other dog breed and she stands and ignores them. If we spy a poodle she comes over all fruity and starts acting like she is a young bean again.

My neighbor has the same breed of dog as me.
When they walk past her dog comes and barks at my front door and “asks” mine to come out to play!
They play Bitey face for ages and get on really well, unless neighbor dog tries to share ddogs stick ( Ddog not a shared)
Interestingly the only dog our will share sticks with is a little black terrier cross that we have regularly bumped into since it was a tiny puppy. It’s pretty feisty but Ddog tolerates it in a way he doesn’t other dogs for some reason.
When he was tiny someone we knew got a puppy about the same time and they played together regularly. We didn’t see them for a few months and when we bumped into them there was a lot of growling on both sides!
Ddog is terrified of GSD for some reason and very wary of Huskies

Yep him and 2 of his litter mates go to the same daycare and apparently they are inseparable - to the point of being rude and excluding others

My lovely, late lamented JRT was best friends with another terrier. She was about 7 years younger and they adored each other from first sight. If either her owner or I mentioned the name of the other dog, both would go soppy. She was bereft when he died - or at least to her, disappeared - and she'd look at me with a 'What have you done with him then?' expression every time we met.

Since the arrival of my new pup, she's become Senior Dog in a 'pack' of three. All three of whom (although not to the same degree with my gloriously daft lurcher pup) are now trying to work out the status of things. But while she's very tolerant of the pup, the undying love isn't there.

My next door neighbour has a chocolate labrador 3 weeks younger than my 13 month old black labrador. They are best pals and have daily playdates. My boy also has a few friends Mon - Fri in the park I walk him in - an English bull terrier, an Italian Spinone and a Husky/Collie Cross. He had other weekend walk pals (my DH walks him at weekends), and a black lab best pal when he walks with his dog walker. My dog has a far wider circle of friends than me!

Yes. My dog meets her friends every morning. They have a good off lead run around 😊 Sorry to the mumsnetters who will, undoubtedly, turn up to tell me dogs must stay indoors and lie in their baskets all day, every day....it doesn't work like that!

All dogs need exercise and if they have a great work out with other dogs before you are out of bed in the morning there's no harm done.

Deal with it!

My dog is a Lhasa apso so quite small, her best friend in an Irish wolfhound so quite large lol who lives up the street and they play in the park together. They look so funny together as there is quite a difference in size!

My yorkshire terrier is best friends with my ex dog walkers jug. They have a week long play date each 1/4 so they can “catch up”. He is the only dog she tolerates and snuggles up to. Otherwise it’s human companions all the way

Ah you’re reminding me of the dogs we had as a teenager.

One was usually terrible with other dogs (although had been fine at the farm we got her from as an eight year old - I suppose it would be thought of now as a puppy farm but the farmer bred GSDs for the police (never more than three litters in a lifetime) and for show, and was certainly not doing it for the money, the dogs lived in better luxury than he did). One day she escaped across the road to say hello to our neighbour’s nuece’s dog, who came when she was on holiday. He was a big beer of a dog and they were brilliant together.

A later dog would wait at a particular point every morning looking out for her favourite Golden Retriever. They’d collaboratively and competitively play with huge long sticks and generally have a whale of a time together.

Interestingly both dogs hated with a particular passion sheepdogs. And there was one particular Yorkshire terrier who was also a particular enemy.

My pups best friends are local children. He gets excited to see them and gets down on his belly and slithers towards them, they pretend not to see and the jump ‘in shock’ when he reaches them. We go through this routine almost every day!

My sister had 1 Yorkshire terrier. It then gave birth to 4 pups (we don't talk about the conception except that it looked like rape and that it should never be mentioned again). Now my Sis has the Mum and one pup. My mother has another of the pups (not sure where the other two went - they weren't sold, they went within the family as they were pure bred).
The Mum gets on ok when she's with her two pups. She doesn't show any favouritism to either of them, even though she lives with one and the other one doesn't live with her. She's a very passive dog though.

Oh they're all really happy! My point was, that the mother lives with one pup and frequently visits the other pup. They don't act mother/daughter at all, but they act 'FAMILY' lol. You mess with my sister, you messing with me! (Because we have a rescue mongrel dog too). So they gang up on her (They're all female funnily enough).

I would say their best friends are the cats bizarrely!
