Pigletdog is expecting! Any advice?

Disclaimer: very careful planned and considered litter, all health and genetic testing done, carefully selected dog, lots of advice from our breeder, etc etc

Pigletdog was scanned yesterday, and it looks like we are expecting a litter of 6-8 puppies on 20th March. It's our first litter, and we are a little terrified! Please could we have any top tips for whelping and puppy care?

Vet bedding will be a god send with the puppies, you can buy it from Crufts there's usually a few sellers there. Don't forget collars to identify the puppies so its easier to record their weights etc.

In regards to breeders my next puppy is coming from a successful show kennel. They have a litter a year but only breed a bitch twice and space her litters out with a 2 year break inbetween. All of their dogs live in the home and the litter is also raised in their house. They love their dogs and treat them like royalty.

Thanks to all posters. We have 3 weeks to go with PDog, but last night I helped to deliver a litter of puppies with her breeder. Couple got a bit stuck (front legs tucked backwards), one was breech, and the one I delivered had perfect presentation and just slipped out easily! I did some cord cutting, sac breaking, towel rubbing, latching them on; and feel a lot more confident. Still terrified, but slightly more prepared! No pics as they're not mine, but they were very cute!

That’s great preparation. Congrats to that mum and breeder. Hoping your bitch has a straightforward delivery. Good luck.

Quick update - 4 puppies delivered on Sun night/Monday morning (looks like the scan wasn't too accurate!).
Thank you for all the tips and advice. We are getting started with Puppy Culture, and all pups are gaining weight and doing fine. PigletDog is a fantastic mum, and doing a great job. We're still on 24 hour supervision, but managing to do shifts and get some sleep!
