The only thing I can think of is that it was resource guarding based, as he had just been given a raw bone - but he doesn't have a history of resource guarding issues around humans (minor history around other dogs), he let me take the same bone away shortly afterwards and the feet were attached to someone who was getting up and moving away from him and his bone... So I'm not convinced. And he had a "half hearted" (I wasn't there) pop at the same set of feet later on. He'd also run growling at the other visiting relative (openly hates dogs, not well liked within the family, so that one resulting in snorts of laughter Blush)

Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe he sensed the barely concealed dislike of dogs. Maybe he's developing a proper issue. Why can't my dog have normal issues like barking at the postman that I can google?

BiteyShark · 20/07/2018 20:11

BiteyDog when younger used to have a thing about DHs feet when he used to cross his legs so one was high off the ground iykwim. He would then attack it and get all 'bitey'. I did notice it was when he was wound up and needed a sleep but even so he never did it with my feet. He did grow out of it but not before several time outs.

Sorry, PestDog's behaviour is not funny, but 'behavioural whack-a-mole' is genius. Grin

BiteyShark · 20/07/2018 21:55

Completely off topic but I used to love playing whack-a-mole at the fair. The simplest games are usually the best Grin

Sorry about the biting incident Avacados Sad Luckily Bluepuppy is a complete smooch around all people including children so not something I’ve had to deal with.

The current problem I have is his ears. He had a slight rip near the top of one ear and a little bit of thickening and crustiness. I assumed it was just from over eager play at day care. Then today I found something similar on his other ear. Of course he was only at the vet a week ago for something else. Sigh. Not sure whether to sit it out for now or take him to the vet in case it’s some sort of skin condition that needs treatment.

BiteyShark · 21/07/2018 06:27

Oh dear blue I do find vet visits come in batches Grin.

Could another dog have been nibbling on the other ear?

OP posts:
bluetongue · 21/07/2018 08:07

Yes, it’s possible the other ear is from dog chewing. Bluepuppy is very keen on nibbling on the ears of other dogs so it is pretty likely that other dogs might have bitten him back. Daycare did hand him back one day a few months ago apologising for his bleeding ear.

Think I might ask daycare this week what they think and take it from there. Of course once you start googling these things there are so many other possibilities of what it could be.

BiteyShark · 21/07/2018 09:25

Oh yes spent my fair share of googling Grin.

Coming up to the end of my time off from work and it's been so nice spending it with BiteyDog stamps foot and wishes I would win the lottery so I didn't have to work

avocados - I met a lady at the park yesterday, she was trying to walk her dog, small stocky, dog, some sort of staffie?
Anyway, she took one step and the dog rolled over on her back and attacked her feet. Stopped, got dog to stand up, took another step and dog dive bombed her feet and rolled over on the ground again.
It was very funny. I stopped to chat and she said dog has an obsession with her feet at the moment and she keeps pouncing and biting them.
I was amazed they had made it all the way to the park tbh!

Bella's home! Grin She is incredibly relaxed, I thought she'd be quite anxious but she has explored all rooms, chosen a spot on the sofa and had some food. She keeps nipping upstairs,I suspect she knows she's not allowed as she sits at the top waiting for me to shout her down Hmm Will need to move the treats I keep here for Eric further up as she is definitely more interested in the boxes than he is. She needs a groom as she is quite matted underneath and when she is settled I will buy her a new bed. The rescue said she is underweight so needs feeding up a little and I need to get her spay booked in as well but she is quite simply lovely and looking forward to lots of happy times with her. Will start the slow introduction to Eric next weekend when she has had time to settle in. Will want to swap her food as well as she is on Bakers and would like her on a better quality feed and apparently she eats any dried food but there is no rush. Really very happy.

BiteyShark · 21/07/2018 16:16

That's good news flesh. Hopefully it won't take her too long to realise that she's found her home Grin

Great, Flesh! Any chance of a photo? Smile

fleshmarketclose · 21/07/2018 17:41

Will post a photo later they all have my dc on that I've got just now. Been for a quick stroll, she was itching to go once I got her collar and lead. Kept to the quiet spots but she never reacted at all to a dog she saw across the road (sniffed the air and carried on) so feel a bit more hopeful that eventually she will be happy with Eric. I can't wait until she has been groomed, she's so small she's picked up no end of rubbish in her hair and I narrowly avoided a roll in horse muck. She is flat out now so hoping that she can snooze until later. Not sure where to put her basket (she slept in the kitchen apparently) we have a small kitchen so she can't go in there. She's asleep in the hall just now so might try there and sleep in the downstairs bedroom to keep an eye on her. Fingers crossed that tonight goes well.

BiteyShark · 22/07/2018 08:39

I have just had to drag BiteyDog home. I took him for a walk and DH went on a bike ride. DH happened to come across us and fussed him and cycled off. OMG, BiteyDog went crazy, wouldn't walk with me as he was distraught we had left DH in town and needed to get him. Managed to force him home whereby he ran from room to room crying and looking for him.

Thank god DH is now home and normality resumed.

Aww, Bella sounds lovely. How did last night go?

I was just sitting here happily drinking coffee and perusing the John Lewis sale when effing SquirrelDog ran in from the garden with a (very dead) plant in a plastic pot and scattered soil ALL OVER the kitchen and living room floor. Angry

Does anyone want a Spaniel? Slightly used. Very well behaved.

BiteyShark · 22/07/2018 08:51

No thanks, one spaniel is definitely enough for me Grin

Well so far Bella seems the almost perfect dog for us. Last night went well although she chose to sleep on a cushion in dd's room rather than in either of the beds the previous owners sent. It wasn't the plan but dd was delighted and tbh I'd rather get some sleep than keep trying to persuade her to get in her bed. She never moved until she heard me get up and then trotted downstairs as happy as Larry. We've done one of Eric's shorter walks this morning, she was raring to go and recognises already that a walk is on the cards when my shoes get changed.
Photo of her in what is called affectionately here "the mutt chair" Ds has called me mutt or mutty for years and that is my chair that nobody else sits on, not even Eric. Bella is yet to get with the programme although she does get down when told so that's a positive at least.

Awww she looks lovely and comfy on the chair. I think you might need a new chair for yourself Grin

Our kitchen floor is filthy already squirrel combination of Bella coming back with loads of stuff she has picked up in her fur on her travels and over enthusiastic water bowl filling by dd. I figured I would mop later off to peruse the John Lewis sale now myself and pondering a trip to pets at home as the glittery pink collar is making my teeth itch.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 22/07/2018 11:07

Aww Bella looks like she's settling in brilliantly Grin

TropicPlunder · 22/07/2018 11:27

Oh she's really cute! Yes, collar shopping essential, always Smile

Squirrel26 · 22/07/2018 11:41

They’ve got some nice new armchairs in the John Lewis sale... Grin

Halfblindbunny · 22/07/2018 21:23

So Milo has been here for 4 hours. He was a star travelling in the boot. We have been on a walk and he didn't pull my arms out of the sockets like he did when we visited him. He has met the cats one of which has taken to the upstairs the other is staying down here but sticking to the high ground for the time being. He didnt try to eat from the kids plates despite them eating on the sofa and has already learnt that tbe spiderman duvet on the living room floor (which was an emergency bed solution) is for him. So far so good. Stupid question time: the rescue centre said he wasnt neutered but would sort me out an appointment to take him to be done. But he has been upside down a fair few times as is typical for a lurcher and he has no balls?! Can he be unneutered but have no visible balls at all? Confused!

GooodMythicalMorning · 23/07/2018 11:21

Hmm not sure. Wpuld have thought you could see something.

BiteyShark · 23/07/2018 14:10

Ummm mine lost his balls poor BiteyDog when he was neutered. Wonder if the rescue has got him mixed up with another dog Grin
