Can't suggest anything unfortunately as my mud magnet gets clipped short. I am sure that is why everyone thinks he is still a puppy that and that fact that he is deciding to ignore basic training at the moment Hmm

She is clipped short every six or seven weeks but because of her poodley genes her hair grows quickly so the last few weeks before a groom will mean a very wet muddy dog who has just discovered that the sofa really is the place to snooze. Have gone online and just bought her an unlined waterproof that she can step into and it zips up the back which will keep her back and undercarriage dryer. Will only use it when it is belting down though or on a very muddy walk in winter, I don’t want her overheating.

BiteyShark · 16/08/2018 09:14

Oooo yes must be the poodle genes as BiteyDog is clipped short on his back and it doesn't grow very quickly. The inbetween grooms are usually just to trim his legs and paws Grin

So that's both dogs fully vaccinated now. Madam had her kennel cough vaccination today with puppy having hers in two weeks time.

Poor Nero had a severe case of kennel cough when I first got him that affected him for the rest of his life. If he started running too much he would start snorting and coughing.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 16/08/2018 11:10

TMI but what do you do about scooping soft poo? BastardPup did one this morning- I scooped but it left a skidder on the pavement. I ended up shoving a couple of leaves on top because I couldn't think what else to do!

BiteyShark · 16/08/2018 11:26

If it's soft poo on the pavement I try and get as much up using tissues and poo bags. If I have water with me I try and wash any of it away. If it's out in the forest, depending on how runny it is I sometimes bury it by throwing lots of soil and dirt over it.

Same as us. Pick up what we can.

BiteyShark · 16/08/2018 12:22

Soubriquet we have to have kennel cough vaccination as well because of daycare. Annoying as I have to time it so he gets it when he doesn't need to go to daycare for a couple of weeks as it's a live vaccine Sad

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 16/08/2018 12:40

It's worth it though. If you had seen the damage poor Nero suffered...well it isn't worth skimping

JackReacherReader · 16/08/2018 15:26

Back from the vet! He's on meloxicam :) hope to see some improvement soon!

GooodMythicalMorning · 16/08/2018 15:36

Missed induction for dog class ffs. Im so bad at remembering stuff. Still allowed to go to rhe rest of them luckily.

BiteyShark · 16/08/2018 16:39

Lost weather sounds lovely in NZ. I like it when it's neither hot or cold Grin

Jack fingers crossed that the meds work

Goood everything gets written on a big calendar in the kitchen otherwise I would forget what I was doing.

BiteyDog is wiped out tonight. He was so tired from daycare he wouldn't get out of the car and just laid there staring at me as if to say 'I'm fine here, just having a snooze'. Somehow I don't think I am going to hear a peep out of him tonight.

DH left for work at 6.30 am and cocodog and I had a leisurely morning lying in bed, having breakfast, me doing housework and emails and her lying on the sofa looking at the rain. Rain ceased at 10.15am and we got out and met her mentor, 11 year old German short haired pointer for a walk. Cue, much gambolling and a quiet couple of hours when we got home. I got on with work until lunchtime and then needed to crack on so cocodog got a raw marrowbone (big treat) until DH home from work and we all had a rest and read until time for afternoon walk, more work to be done and then a big football game until supper. Cocodog then enjoys a comb and brush whilst we have a glass of wine and then disappears for a good lie down whilst we cook and eat. She will shuffle around between floor and sofa until bedtime.

BiteyShark · 16/08/2018 20:47

Very jealous of your leisurely morning with Cocodog. Sounds like a nice mix of work and rest.

I was up at 5am and even BiteyDog looked disgusted at me for making him get up at that time Sad. He hasn't moved since I last posted except to lie on his back with his legs in the air for a bit Grin

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 16/08/2018 21:19

Yes, working from home has its advantages. Biteydog s waving his legs in the air spells contentment , I always love to see cocodog upside down , belly up😁

BiteyShark · 17/08/2018 10:05

I'm working at home today but still up early as DH had to go into the office. At the moment BiteyDog is driving me crazy as he has found a game of 'roll his ball under the sofa and bark until I come and rescue it and repeat' Angry

I tried giving him a new deers antler but he insists on chomping it sat on my lap which is not condusive for work. It is a good job I love the hairy mutt Grin

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 17/08/2018 10:53

SquirrelDog used to do the ‘oh look, my ball is under the sofa. Wasn’t me’ barking. Drove me nuts. I moved the sofa. Grin He also likes to be REALLY close to me when he’s chewing on something. Why do they do that??

BiteyShark · 17/08/2018 10:57

Squirrel I think it's BiteyDogs secret plan just to annoy me Grin He doesn't realise I need to work to pay for all his treats Hmm

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 17/08/2018 17:24

Went for a road walk. Everytime a car went past and the wind buffeted his tail he jumped thinking someone had touched him Hmm.

Even when stopped for a sniff far away from the road if the wind caught his tail he turned and gave me such an accusing look. Anyone would have thought I had booted him up the backside Confused

And now he is annoyed as I have a crispy duck cooking in the oven so is walking round the kitchen sniffing the air Grin. If he gives me a minutes peace he might get a tiny bit.

Welcome Lost from a fellow antipodean Grin

I love NZ and have vague plans to move / retire there one day (I’m in Australia).

Interesting to read about leaving Biteydog in the evening Bitey as it’s something I want to start doing with a Bluepuppy soon. Sometimes I think my anxiety is more of a problem than his these days!

BiteyShark · 18/08/2018 16:33

I have cleaned the gutters and all the windows today as well as taking BiteyDog for agility. I ache already so god help me tomorrow.

blue I cant help but worry about BiteyDog when we leave him. It's so hard isn't it.
