Alfie is being PTS tomorrow. I’m heartbroken.

I had a thread a few months ago, about my best mate Alfie.
We found out he had a tumour in his neck. He has lasted 3 months but now the time has come.
It’s abcessed and become really smelly, he’s still eating, drinking and eating fine.
He’s being put to sleep tomorrow and I’m lost I’m a wreck.
He won’t want to go in the vets tomorrow and will be pulling to leave.
I feel so guilty.

I'm so sorry. It's the kindest thing to do, though - better a day, week, month too soon than a day too late.

He’s gone, gave him a walk on the way there and he loved it.
It was really quick, I told him it’s fine to go and thank you for looking after me all this time.

We get his ashes back next week, at least he’s coming back home. I’m going to have a imprint of his paw too.

It was the hardest thing to do, but we had tried everything and the cancer was destroying him.
He isn’t in pain now and it was so quick.

It’s so strange without him in the house, I miss him so much already. Tomorrow morning will be hard, he always waits for me at the bottom of the stairs.
My other dog doesn’t know what to do with herself, we are letting her sleep upstairs tonight cause she’s never been without him.
My poor boy didn’t deserve this, but he’s not in pain now and no more cancer.

I imagine it will be extremely difficult for a while and then slowly it will become easier your poor other dog too, she must be confused the poor thing. Hope you manage to get a decent nights sleep tonight x

Thank you, I worked in a vets for years and I know it was the right thing to do but I miss him so much.
Sleep is out of the question with my 9 month old but at least he will distract me. @rassy make the most of her while she is here. Give her a belly tickle from me.

We had our darling chocolate lab PTS 2 years ago and I still miss her. We have her ashes at home but it's the silly little things you miss. Making that choice is the hardest thing to do, but also the kindest.
