Love Oreo! Matches his colouring, he's beautiful!

squeaver · 19/04/2018 21:20

Stand up and shout all the names across the living room as if you're in the park because that is the time you'll be using it the most. Which one do you like the sound of the most?

Ickyockycocky · 19/04/2018 21:21

He looks like a Merlin to me.

foreverblessedbee · 19/04/2018 21:21

Rupert

minmooch · 19/04/2018 21:23

Looks like a Gerald to me!

missbattenburg · 19/04/2018 21:24

A colleague of mine had me shout the names I was considering at full volume, following by "you f**ker!" and pick which one felt the most natural.

"Battendog, you f**ker!"

On a more serious notes, names with hard consonants are easier for the dog to hear which would suggest Hector will be more successful than Oreo... (nice though Oreo is as a name)

sillyoldowl · 19/04/2018 21:24

Gunther

Mrschainsawuk · 19/04/2018 21:27

Oreo

Haffdonga · 19/04/2018 21:27

From your list:

Oreo is quite difficult to pronounce 'efficiently' when you need him to stop eating out of the bin or rolling in fox shit.

I know loads of Woodys and Cocos

I love Hector.

foreverblessedbee · 19/04/2018 21:27

Rupert is one of my faves purely for emotional reasons as my uncle has just recently passed away and he was a proper lifelong Rupert the bear fan. Trouble is its not my favourite for shouting, I've just practised!! Samson is nice because there are lots of different variations ( Sam Sammy sammy-boy The Samster) Oreo was my fave out of the kids choices but it's not easy to shout or shorten.

foreverblessedbee · 19/04/2018 21:31

So - Rupert - Hector...... what about Samson. Any more suggestions for the list? Husband just gave me a proper total eye roll at Gerald I'm afraid!

If you all like Oreo you could use Rio /Reo as an abbreviation but it's not such a nice name
