Hi,

We're getting a new pup in the next week or so. We had to have our much loved and missed old terrier put to sleep just before Christmas and now our remaining dog is fretting for dog company we feel.

Our old terrier was Poppy, our cavalier we still have is Daisy. Our cat is willow. You can see the theme here can't you?

Names that have been vetoed are Lilly, Clover, Parsley, Iris, Petal, Blossom, Posy, Pansy and (my fave) Ivy.

Our new pup is a brown/black brindle little girl. She's half staffie and half patterdale.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Thank you all - there are some new suggestions that we hadn't thought of so that's great. Love Hazel - but as one of my close colleagues in work is Hazel that might be a little odd for everyone!

Bluebell? I knew a wonderful little dog called Bluebell. Oh, and her sister was Primrose.

What a beautiful little puppy, whatever her future name!

laughing at Dandy as a nickname. We briefly minded a dog called Dandy. He will forever be known as Randy Dandy in this house. He humped everything! Ruined the name for me lol

our last dog - popppy - was mostly Patterdale. I have heard they can be challenging?

Well out family experience is their not really dog dogs. In that they don't really like the company of other dogs, which is why I say interesting mix because staffies do. In our case she's also a rescue so it might be made worse by her history or her time with other dogs at the rescue centre

Ours likes plenty of room to run (my parents have a massive field that she loves) and 'hunt' she's very good at capturing rats and moles, which my gardening mum is kind of glad of, although my veggie sister who's dog she really is is doesn't like it quite so much.

Inkspellme · 01/04/2018 11:33

interesting stuff about the patterdale - our last dog wasn't a purebred either and was a rescue so prob makes a difference.

The name suggestions are great - we're making a short list to help us decide.

Ah i think mixes make a difference.

We wouldn't actally change her for the world but they definately need the right home.

But also i guess every dog is different
