Any dogs out there loving the snow?

Our boy had a mad moment hurtling round the garden in thick, thick snow (we're in the red warning area) then flew back inside. It's been like a blizzard here so he's missed a decent walk but he doesn't seem bothered....loving lots of sofa time and a cozy fire.

One of mine is deeply unimpressed and is wearing both his long legged onesie and a fleece housecoat while sulking indoors. The other has been joyfully running round in the garden with our foster dogs, and digging snowholes.
I have rather less enjoyed standing in the garden waiting for the pups to do their business in the howling wind! 2am was a real high point in this week as I stood in my dressing gown, dry robe and crocs in the snow

Mine loves it , we are SE so he was a puppy the last time we had a decent amount . First really snowy day he ripped a toe nail off playing like a mad thing with his tennis ball in the garden , so yesterday we stayed in and today we went to our local heath and he ran about with his ball like a loon and I got windburn on my face and discovered that actually my Raynauds is still quite bad given low enough temperatures .

Eric is loving it, in spite of the snow being deeper in places than he is and deeper than the length of his legs everywhere. He's walked about six miles today and then spent the rest of the time watching the snow through the window. It must be cold though because he has happily worn his coat for the last few days anyway.

CMOTD I do hope they are fleecy lined winter crocs like mine!
Wolfiegirl walked this morning. Snowing but not much on the ground. She's not impressed. That stuff is cold! Grin

Pup here loved the snow. Ate so much of it.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 01/03/2018 19:29

Cocodog is enthralled...watches snow out of the windows, dives about in it in the garden...whale of a time in the woods and field. Still wants to assist DH with getting wood in for the log burner so wears her equafleece out and about until 5.30 pm. Now conked out in front of fire.
Bless her

Soubriquet · 01/03/2018 19:31

Nope....have to force madam out to go to the toilet. She sits and sulks at the back door if I just let her out.

She's refusing to get up in the mornings too. I take her to bed with me and she buries herself right under the duvet. I get up and come down, put the heating on, put the fire on, then settle down with my cup of tea.

When the fire has warmed the room enough, then and only then, does she come downstairs...and sprawls infront of the fire and goes back to sleep Hmm

Mine loves it, does zoomies
Also likes to join in sledging with any children he spots so has to be on the lead and enjoys catching snowballs.
He would stay out in the garden all day if we’d let him

bellabunny · 01/03/2018 19:39

Mine is loving it but it's hard work with small legs!

Mine was loving it, running about like a puppy until it got too deep for him. I have just had to shove him outside to have a pee.

Ditzyitzy · 01/03/2018 20:19

One of mine seems oblivious and the other hates it and has had to be fished out from under the duvet to go to toilet.

Elphame · 01/03/2018 20:29

Elfpup is loving it. Running in crazy circles and digging to his hearts content. He’s finally worn himself out and is asleep on the sofa in front of blazing coal fire. Bliss

mummyflood · 01/03/2018 20:29

First proper winter for mine...absolutely loves it! more bonkers than ever snuffling through it with his equally bonkers best cocker spaniel friend...lovely to watch! funny how he is more interested than ever in chasing his ball also...then likes to eat the snow off it Grin

missbattenburg · 01/03/2018 20:38

Mine is LOVING it. While I was peaking out from beneath 12 layers of clothing this morning, he was hurtling about the field trying to catch every snowflake. Has spent the rest of the day asking to go out every 15 mins so he can run around the garden shovelling snow up onto his nose. I keep having to bring him in because his nose goes bright pink and feels ice cold to the touch. Does anyone know if dog noses freeze?

Aprilmightmemynewname · 01/03/2018 20:40

My Lurchers loved it!!

Mine loves it. Bit of Vaseline in the paws to stop the ice bobbles and all good

Crumblevision · 01/03/2018 20:45

CMOT can we have a pic of your dog in the housecoat please? I am picturing a pink candlewick one for some reason 😂

LittlePearl · 01/03/2018 20:45

I'm very glad not to be doing the 'every 20 minutes' toilet training thing we had to do when he was a pup!

Elderly Lurcher most definitely doesn’t like it. She’s currently on my bed wearing a fleece housecoat and tucked under a fleece blanket, thanks DSHmm which she wears like a train when getting up for a stretch.
She has been physically pushed outside twice today but was in again like a flash, I suspect she’s got herself a cork from somewhere.

Mine has seen snow for the first time and has gone batshit crazy. He buries his head in it and runs at top speed like he's plowing it. Eats it. Throws it up into the air. You get the picture. Cries when he has to come indoors and begs to go out all night.

It's like having an obsessive toddler again.

CMOTDibbler · 01/03/2018 21:46

Crumble, this isn't today as ddog is asleep in Ds's bed with him, but his onesie is glorous polka dots. His housecoats are: teal with white spots, teal with grey trim, plain red, and a black/red with skulls on it. He also has a seasonal collection of a glow in the dark halloween star wars, and red with white snowflakes for christmas. Then there's the outdoor coats... He is very fine coated and as a lurcher has a very low body fat so he does actually need coats. DDog2 only wears one in extremis.

Wolfie, no, alas no furry lining. Crocs keep being chewed by my little friends! Tonight I may bring my wellies to the door for middle of the night excursions.

My 17 year old mutt loves snow. Doesnt matter how much, he zooms around then rolls in it. He has nearly yanked me off my feet several times trying to get to where we walk quicker
