Any dogs out there loving the snow?

Our boy had a mad moment hurtling round the garden in thick, thick snow (we're in the red warning area) then flew back inside. It's been like a blizzard here so he's missed a decent walk but he doesn't seem bothered....loving lots of sofa time and a cozy fire.

I love that onesie. Very snuggly!
Last winter it was wellies for me.
This year I invested in snuggly winter crocs. Still not looking forward to the last wee trip tonight!!

Dog lives making footprints in the snow. Trouble is his chin, tummy and paws get soaked cos he's only got short legs !

TheFaerieQueene · 01/03/2018 22:48

Coco that is a sad face.

My brown lab loves the snow.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 01/03/2018 22:55

Oh, if only. She does seem to recognise that it is cold enough not to spend as long outdoors but still wants to walk in all weathers. To be fair, tonight she was in and out for a bedtime wee in record time. Her love affair with snow could be over tomorrow when she is chest deep in it😬

ScreamingValenta · 01/03/2018 22:55

My old fella is delighted with it.

Bigfoot1 · 01/03/2018 23:02

We are toilet training in it... this photo (not mine - credit from Whippet appreciation Society) completely sums it up

Aw CMOT he looks very regal in his housecoat. Mine would never let me dress her in anything ☹😂

ThisMorningWentBadly · 02/03/2018 07:05

We are tolpiletmtraining in the snow as well. Hideous.

CMOTDibbler · 02/03/2018 09:40

Raise you two puppies (my current fosters) housetraining.

OTOH, I got out my new waterproof and fleece onesie (bought for open water swimming season), and dh's neoprene wellies as easier to slip on, and with my manky down coat I was pretty toasty at 3am when the babies needed to go out.

This morning its all been about jumping in and out of the snow drifts and digging. Unless you are ddog1 who was prised out of bed at 9 and is now angling for a return upstairs after the worlds shortest excursion outside

ThisMorningWentBadly · 02/03/2018 12:49

CMOTDibbler You win! Neoprene wellies are the best.

Our 12 week old pup seems rather fond of the snow. I, on the other hand, am not impressed with spending half my life stood in a freezing cold garden waiting for him to wee / poop. I had to do the crocks / dressing gown middle of the night dash last night and it was not fun. At least he is a prompt pisser after dark!

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 02/03/2018 15:19

My lab is loving it! We went sledging earlier and he was rushing down the slope after the kids (mine I might add) sending up great clouds of snow. He thinks he's human.

Every time I go near the coat cupboard hes like "yes? Again?" We've been out twice already.

IhaveChillyToes · 02/03/2018 15:23

Our Labrador absolutely loves running in the garden in the snow. SmileSmileSmile

Playing ball and just bouncing in the garden SmileSmileSmile

pigsDOfly · 02/03/2018 15:32

Another snow lover here. The first night we had some, we're not getting as much as most places, she grabbed a ball and was patting it around in the snow and jumping on it. Has since spent every evening out in the garden just sitting on the ice and soaking up the cold wind.

basquiatfan · 02/03/2018 15:39

Loving it. Olive oil on the pads to stop snowballs

The chicken on the other hand are hating every second of the snow and are currently huddled in the back of the run like the apocalypse has arrived...they have a perfectly dry house...they are just miserable sods.

MasonJar · 02/03/2018 16:55

I'm surprised how much my dog loves the snow, as he hates rain and cold.
He's been out in the garden for hours playing a new game, he drops his rugby ball in the snow till its almost covered up then frantically digs it out and attacks it till its dead. Then drops in the snow again......and again....

Mine finally allowed herself to be dragged for walk after not going anywhere since Tuesday. She did some mad zoomies for about 2 mins before deciding that actually she was cold and wanted to go home. Never seen her pull me home before. She usually pulls the other way.

She did do a good bambi slip though. Went to stop as she was running and as she slipped her back legs went from under her...that probably encouraged her to want to home Grin

My mum’s dog goes mad in the snow! Runs round like a nutter then leaps into drifts Grin he likes to eat it as well then whinge because his belly is cold.....

If he knows there is snow outside he sits crying at the patio doors because he’s desperate to go out to play.

Loving these pictures

Copperspot · 02/03/2018 18:07

Edit to add, mum’s dog is a big dopey labrador.

He will also fetch and carry snowballs sooooo gently!

IhaveChillyToes · 02/03/2018 18:13

Don't forget that if the dogs go outside the front of the house (in other words outside of your garden) that you should put their paws in tepid/warm water when they come home to wash the salt and grit out of their paws

Then dry them cos I don't think salt/grit etc is good for them iirc

anonymouser · 02/03/2018 18:24

Snow is the best if you ask my three!! The youngest would rather sleep outside 🙄

anonymouser · 02/03/2018 18:27

Sorry, pic went AWOL
