What does your dog do all day?

My dog sleeps.
Occasionally gets up to be let out for a wee, or to eat and drink.
Then back to sleep.and to dream, judging by the sleep woofs.
She’s almost 11.

It's a really interesting discussion and I'm especially interested as one day I'll bring my laid back outdoor dogs to the UK....And I wonder if they will change with the environment and need other stimulation. I msy have to adapt my dog ownership ways!! certainly never hurts to question why we do things and why we/dogs behave the way we do.

I think sometimes as a nation we can go a bit daft about animals.

To rescue a rabbit you probably need more square meters than those in Grenfell Towers had, proportionally.

I hope my family give our animals everything they need ... but they are animals and have different needs from us.

My lurcher sleeps all day (aside from being let out for her business) until the children get home. Then she has a mad dash about and play with them before wandering around to visit everyone in random parts of the house. Then her walk - which is more of a sprint about the fields for half hour before exhausting herself. The back to sleep for the evening lol.

She does have longer walks at weekends but the half hour dash is enough these days to keep her Happy on a work night. She’s 8 now.

She sounds lovely tumbleweed, and she also sounds happy not doing very much.

Glad i found this thread . I have been wondering if my little guy sleeps excessively or is bored .
I get up at 6:30am but he doesn't bother leaving his basket until about 8am when i go to him and have a chat . He won't pee in the garden and only goes when we walk at 9am . Then he eats his breakfast .
He always starts flinging his toys around after hes eaten for some reason . He usually watches me do some housework , follows me around in the morning but if i am ever to sit down hes on my knee like a shot and fast asleep . He would quite happily spend all his time asleep on my knee in fact .
has a second walk in the afternoon and i usually play with him a bit but generally he snoozes the afternoon away and alot of the evening too apart from when ds2 and dh come home and have a play with him . He goes out for a wee about 8pm but wont go again until morning , ive tried and hes not interested , seems a very long time to me !

Areyouready - she is lovely and happy. We chose a lurcher because they were meant to be calm dogs in the house. She needed more running and for longer when she was younger though but she’s kind of let us know what she’s happy with :).
