I hope not too.
Sad

DeepfriedPizza · 31/10/2017 14:20

Sad poor bitey pip. Good luck with the scooping

BiteyShark · 31/10/2017 14:21

I have 5 stool samples already :) [boak]

BiteyShark · 31/10/2017 15:28

Good news, nothing major with the bloods but some indication of inflammation which could be parasitic so need to get the stool sample in tomorrow. Looks like no further tests unless he gets worse in himself so heres to another night of me and him getting up every hour for a poo in the garden (the dog, not me). Arghhhh quietly sobs in a corner as this looks like it could rumble on for some time. It's a good job I bloody love the furry boy Grin

Wolfiefan · 31/10/2017 16:55

We have lungworm in this area now. A possibility?

BiteyShark · 31/10/2017 17:07

I would hope that was one of the things they test for from the blood and stool samples but will ask. He does seem a bit brighter in himself at the moment and is eating a bit again but it is still going through him. I was sold a can of gastro friendly food from the vets (bloody costs a fortune) which he seemed to really like so have sent DH out to get some more so hoping that helps even if it will cripple the bank account if we end up having to use it long term Grin

Wolfiefan · 31/10/2017 17:48

Well from the sounds of it they certainly have enough poo to test! Grin
Hoping for good news.

BiteyShark · 01/11/2017 05:56

Sorry all new puppy owners for hijacking this thread for my moans.

We have been up every 40mins to 1 hour all night for him to stain the tiniest bit of watery poo. Both of us are knackered. I just feel so sorry for him Sad. Anyway poo samples are done. Never want to do that again Grin

Elphame · 01/11/2017 11:38

You must be dead on your feet Bitey. Would the vet not give you something like imodium for him to give him (and his bowel) I chance of a rest?

BiteyShark · 01/11/2017 11:47

I went into the vets and explained that he is up straining all the time (despite bouncing about like there is nothing wrong the daft dog) and he is now in having repeat scans and fluids and possible overnight stay. We can't carry on like this so I am pleased he is back. I am wiped :(

Elphame · 01/11/2017 14:39

Any news yet? I hope they get to the bottom of this for you today.

I see trouble ahead with Elfpup

His latest trick is to hang back on walks secure in the knowledge that he'll get called if I think he's too far behind. Up he bounds with a big grin and sits at my feet for his recall treat. He does this over and over again!

Little pickle - I've switched to random rewards now. I can see life is not going to be dull with him around. He has already worked out that two little wees in the garden get him more treats than one proper one! I'm just wondering what he'll come up with next!

BiteyShark · 01/11/2017 15:28

Elphame ah yes they soon work out how to get more rewards Grin

Looks like the Bitey household is going to be very quiet tonight as he's staying in. Seems food is not shifting along in his stomach as it should be but no sign of an obstruction. Lymph nodes are large and they have witnessed the smelly mucus poos he's been doing. Lots more scans to see if things get better naturally but there was talk of opening him up if it doesn't improve but fingers crossed it doesn't come to that Sad

Elphame · 01/11/2017 15:40

Poor Biteydog. Good that the vet has now seen the problem though. Fingers crossed they come up with a diagnosis for you asap. The silver lining is that you should be able to get a decent nights sleep tonight knowing he's in safe hands.

Abhorsen · 01/11/2017 15:43

Poor biteydog - at least the Vet now sees the issue as well and hopefully they’ll get to the bottom of it.
You’re house will seem quiet tonight but at least you’ll hopefully get some sleep and he’ll be back with you tomorrow. xx

Wolfiefan · 01/11/2017 16:35

Hoping they can come up with the answer soon. Early night for you. Fingers crossed he will be home and driving you crackers soon!

BiteyShark · 01/11/2017 18:15

Thanks all. He's in good hands but god I miss him Sad

Fillybuster · 01/11/2017 23:26

Bitey, I've been thinking of you and pup all day....just off to rtt, but wanted to tell you how much you've both been on my mind!

BiteyShark · 02/11/2017 05:33

I frantically cleaned the house, his bedding and toys last night just in case it was a bug so it's clean for when he comes home. I then crashed out but woke in the early hours and felt awful as he will be so confused and scared on why he is at the vets Sad. They become such a big part of your life. Have to work today and sit waiting for phone calls to let me know what today's scans show.

Wolfiefan · 02/11/2017 07:21

Hoping you get answers and he's home soon. If it's anything like our vets he will be tucked up warm with cuddles on demand!

DeepfriedPizza · 02/11/2017 08:10

Hopefully you will get answers today Bitey Flowers

bluetongue · 02/11/2017 09:38

Fingers crossed Bitey pup is back with you soon feeling much better Flowers

MrsWooster · 02/11/2017 11:54

I hope biteypup is doing ok.
Woosterhound is improving a bit, I think... sequestration in the utility room is working when he bites is mouthing enthusiastically or generally being a massive PITA. His recall is okish IF he has no distractions so I have upped the ante on rewards and discovered Primula with ham. He was a different dog this morning, even in the park, and was focused on me even when having a run. Even better, the fliptop from a colgate tube fits the primula tube so it is a one handed job to flick and squeeze! He wasn't over impressed with the initial minty cheese but the mintiness seems to have worn off. The cats are more in the house, though still totally avoid him, so the primula (other squeezy cheese is available) is helping there too, as he will respond to that when glimpsing one of the cats instead of reacting and frightening them - desensitisation in progress, with a bit of luck. I got some with prawn in too to try and entice the cats at the same time. Pet bonding through squeezycheese.

Elphame · 02/11/2017 12:16

That's inspired MrsWooster. We're going backwards in recall as he gets bigger and more confident. It's still good when there is nothing else around to distract but he'll turn round and look at me if there is a dog and then totally ignore me.

Squeezy cheese will be on my next shopping list!

Any news yet Bitey?

BiteyShark · 02/11/2017 13:21

Just been updated. He's staying in for at least another night. His lymph nodes are still large and he has passed lots of very watery poo. They will try him on some food and make a decision tomorrow as to whether to go in surgically and make sure there is no foreign body that isn't showing up and also biopsy everything to get to the bottom of what is wrong. Thank god we also have enough money to top up any insurance if it goes over our limit as I can image overnights, plus all the scans plus any surgery if needed will be pricey and I would hate to be worrying about that as well.

Another crap night for DH and me without him. Really hoping he turns a corner today and we get better news tomorrow. Can't bear to think how I will feel if he isn't home by the weekend.

GooodMythicalMorning · 02/11/2017 14:20

Hoping for him bitey poor thing xx
