Me to, although I got some filthy looks as people were taking pics of the puppy as opposed to the baby!!
Puppy was better behaved than most the kids there though :)

bluetongue · 05/06/2017 10:44

Not the best photo of him but this an idea of his current condition which I actually think is fine looking at him now.

You can also just see from this photo how he has more striped on one side than the other!

Lexa looks fine to me. We can't all have chubby Labrador puppies Grin

Anyone else here have mental health issues? Bluepuppy was meant to help me but I won't lie, there's been some tough times. Stupid things took, ice today I was anxious about my anxiety being bad for him. Deep breaths and one day at a time I guess Smile

Excuse the typos Blush

Soubriquet · 05/06/2017 10:48

I do. Depression mostly with a touch of anxiety.

I've found Lexa has helped so much. So has dh (another depression sufferer)

Got some nail clippers today. Her dew claws are getting bloody sharp and keep cutting my legs

Blue lovely strong shoulders. Ribs should be felt but not prominent.
And yes. ME! MH issues that is. Anxiety and depression and I spiralled massively when we first brought pup home. Stress of lack of sleep, toilet training and the biting. Dear Lord the biting.
She's 8 1/2 months now. Walks on a loose lead. Isn't teething. Obviously toilet trained. We have dealt with the bloody awful separation anxiety so I can leave her. She is great to cuddle and I love being able to actually take her out for walks and spend time with her. If a dog can be your best friend then she's mine! Blush

bluetongue · 05/06/2017 11:13

Well I've got toilet training sorted, he's not that bad with biting and my parents can take him for a walk so things aren't all bad!

I desperately missed having a pet after my beautiful cat died last year. I'd wanted a whippet for years and finally had my own house instead of renting. Guess it just felt like a 'let's go for it' moment as far as dog ownership was concerned.

Glad to hear that your pup was worth the initial struggles Wolfiefan.

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 11:16

I don't have MH issues but even without I find having DDog is up and down so blue don't worry about your anxiety being 'bad for him'. Sometimes DDog causes me anxiety because I worry about him and then other times he is like a stress reliever when he runs up to me so excited when I get home or cocks his head trying to understand me when I witter on to him Grin

AmIAWeed · 05/06/2017 11:34

We got Daniel for my son who struggles with life in general but has no diagnosis. Anything new upsets him, dont get me started on taking him to eat anywhere new. We thought a dog may provide a healthy hobby for him, get him out the house and gives him a bit of a talking point with others. He has really struggled with the puppy so I am doing everything, I've found a trainer though willing to do a class with all the family to get my son involved and help him understand better and then I do the actual dog training classes. The overall aim is eventually they'll do agility together, but we'll see how he copes before agreeing to too much.

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 16:39

AmIAWeed hopefully when your puppy is older, less bitey etc then your DS might find it easier. I know I won't miss the puppy period Grin

SkeletonSkins · 05/06/2017 18:50

Our pup is long and leggy at the moment, defo not a chubby lab puppy!!! So I know the feeling!

We use bravecto and have found it brilliant, would recommend it personally.

Oh skeleton that face! I think we are so used to seeing flabby labs that a slim pup is unusual.
A dog is a man ( and woman) 's best friend.
Puppies are bloody hard work!

thesunwillout · 05/06/2017 19:54

Hi everyone. Sun pup is now 18 weeks and so bloody naughty. I got her in a why not frame of mind for dd who has anxiety and depression. I too have anxiety and depression. Right now I am searching for anything that makes me see this was a good idea. So stressful. Tell me,what toys have you bought that haven't been destroyed. We've spent loads on them only to dump them after ten mins!

Thebluedog · 05/06/2017 19:56

4 month old terrier pup has just pissed in the sofa Angry thought we'd hit this house training licked, and he's never done it on the sofa!

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:01

thesunwillout the best ones that have survived DDogs full set of teeth reasonably well are the kong jumbler ball, kong air dog squeeker football, kong tennis squeeker balls and deer antlers.

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:04

Looks like the nexgard tick stuff is working. Although I pulled one off him it kind of fell out so it was clearly dead (unlike the previous living ones that were clinging on for dear life). Looking at the bravecto it does a similar job

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:07

Doh! Hit post too soon. Looks like bravecto does a similar job but I get worm cover as well with nexgard so fingers crossed it continues to kill the horrible ticks Grin

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:16

God I have fat fingers today. Keep hitting post instead of return.

I gave him the tablet yesterday and it said it takes up to 24 hours to kill any ticks on him so this one today was clearly a gonna. Just wish I didn't find them everyday grrrr

Thebluedog do you think he was too comfy to get down for a pee Grin? It's so frustrating when you think you have cracked it then they have an accident Sad

Cocobananas · 05/06/2017 20:29

Please don't tell me I was alone out in the wind and rain at 4.30pm today! I sent Cocopup out for a pee at about 3pm, she shot in and out and seemed disgusted with the teeming rain. Hour or so later her trotting happily through the wood, me less happily, both of us soaked to the skin. I cut walk short and was rewarded with a mad zoomie after tea with every toy being squeaked to death. Told her she is too old for this at one year old tomorrow. She is settled now but still damp!

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:35

Cocobananas the rain and wind is terrible here. Fortunately DDog was in day care today so I didn't have to go walking in it Grin

Wolfiefan · 05/06/2017 20:47

We walked this morning. Dog WAS shattered after a couple of dog shows. Now she's decided she's full of beans so I am in the cold wet garden trying to tire the stubborn baggage out. Can't take her for a walk as DH away and little one in bed.
Nylabone hasn't been destroyed here. Jumbler ball a new favourite. Frisbee. Kongs are great. I would wet dried food. Stuff and freeze. Or mix dry food with a bit of (xylitol free) peanut butter!

aliasjoey · 05/06/2017 20:50

coco horrible weather here too, so I decided to stay inside and play with the dogs instead. Must have been too rough with pup and he fell and injured his leg. From the awful noises he made, we thought he'd broken something at least.

He stopped whimpering after a short while, and now doesn't seem to be in too much pain. Because he's nearly the same size as First Dog, I forget that he's actually really skinny (it's funny, the rough and tumbles they do in the park I'd have thought just as bad?) and most of his size is just fluff lol but he is still a baby Blush

He seems okay now, but not bearing weight on one foot. Hoping I don't have take him to the vet tomorrow.

Oh, and because he never got that walk he still wants to play Hmm

First Dog was really sweet and kept going over to sniff him and check he was okay.

BiteyShark · 05/06/2017 20:54

aliasjoey hope DPup is ok. It was horrible seeing mine limp so hoping a good nights rest for yours will be enough.

SkeletonSkins · 05/06/2017 21:31

I remember when I first took my pup to my parents he fell from the sofa and literally squealed, the noise was awful and he wouldn't put his foot down out all. I was petrified, wondering what adjustments I'd need to make to accommodate a 3-legged dog etc. My nan said put him on the floor and ignore him! I argued that no I needed to get him to the emergency vets asap as he was clearly seriously injured.

By the time we got home he was absolutely fine and zoomies everywhere again Blush

Wolfiefan · 05/06/2017 21:35

Pup went through a stage of jumping up at me and grabbing me every time I did the washing up. She seemed to know that gloves on meant I didn't want to touch dog! I lifted my knee to block her and then used it to push her away. BUT I must have pushed directly on her hip. Not hard. But she screamed at me and wouldn't put the foot down and limped. For about 30 seconds. Just to guilt me I reckon. Blush

Cocobananas · 05/06/2017 21:57

Think our pup has a daily bucket list. Snooze on our bed after breakfast, tick...two decent walks a day come rain or shine, tick....bit of training, bit of play, tick, bit of snoozing alone time, tick...play with daddy when he gets home from work, tick, ..a kong, bone or chew, tick...a good brush and comb and a tickle, tick. Good night. Just wish she wasn't as hairy, in wet weather she will still feel a bit damp tomorrow morning!
