What does your large dog sleep on?

I have a 5.5 stone Labrador aged 15 months. Just removed the crate, in which he had Vetbed and a blanket.

Now wondering whether to stick with a piece of Vetbed on the laminate floor as his bed, or if I should buy him a dog bed with memory foam or what have you. I'm unsure if he needs the extra padding because of his size? Don't know if his joints need more support?

What do others do?

Mine has a duvet in a duvet cover folded in half. She doesnt like anything that moves or is squidgy when she walks on it. With the cover i can wash regularly and no doggy smelling bed either.

She is 40kg, so a big girl, and 11yrs.

I like those raised hammock styled dog beds for larger breeds. Also great for reducing overheating in the summer.

My very large dog, has a big corduroy bed from pets at home, it was pricey, but worth it. In it, is piece of vet bed, covered with a soft fur fabric cover, under that is an extra covered flat mattress.
He seems very comfy there, it takes the pressure off his bones, isn't too hot, and he isn't sleeping in a cramped position.

Or, during the day, one of those hessian hammock things stretched over a metal frame.

Ours sleeps on a massive pillow type dog bed we bought from Costco. Lovely and plush for her majesty's needs.

I like the look of the hammock things. Don't they flip up when big dog climbs on though?

My two sleep on a folded over memory foam mattress topper.

Ours generally prefers to sleep on the floor or our beds, but she just has a plastic bed that she will only sleep in if there aren't any pillows or blankets in there (although she generally just uses it as a toy box...)

2nd hand cot mattress- you can pick them up really cheaply as can't be reused for babies, particularly useful if your dog likes to chew the corner off things and you don't want to spend a fortune.

He has his own big foam bed which he likes; he also likes the sofa and the DCs bean bag.
And my shower when he's hot.

We had a similar thread here. I have a 10.5 tog double duvet folded into quarters.

Mine isn't a big dog but likes to fully stretch out when sleeping so he takes up lots of room. In a couple of rooms I have a double 13 tog duvet folded over with a cheap cover so easy to keep clean.

Ours has a sort of padded footstool thing with a fleece blanket and dog cushion on top. I call it his throne.

I've gone for a large padded waterproof cushion thing that can be hosed down. I am going to put his Vetbed on the top so it's familiar for him. The hammock was too large for the space we have and I was worried he would chew it!

Currently though he is asleep on the hard floor
