What does your large dog sleep on?

I have a 5.5 stone Labrador aged 15 months. Just removed the crate, in which he had Vetbed and a blanket.

Now wondering whether to stick with a piece of Vetbed on the laminate floor as his bed, or if I should buy him a dog bed with memory foam or what have you. I'm unsure if he needs the extra padding because of his size? Don't know if his joints need more support?

What do others do?

Each has a duvet in a "heavy duty" duvet cover placed over a large padded sheepskin style cushion. (Well, the rescue isn't as young as she was). Spare duvet covers for when they're in the wash.

Both of mine have Orvis beds. They are fantastic. DH was not impressed when I told him the prices. They still sleep on the settee and our bed though. OMG they are so pampered!

I wanted an Orvis one for our lab but DH had heart failure at the price!
He's got a silent night memory foam bed which he loves - he's a 44kg monster with dysplasia and finds it very comfortable

Family dog is nearly 40kgs. She has a box bed now for the first time as she kept trying repeatedly to squish herself into the very nice one belonging to my 4kg small breed. We took the hint!!

Ours has a two seater sofa with vet bed on to protect the leather.

Does anyone have a giant dog (60kg+) with a bed? My big lad mostly sleeps on the tiled kitchen floor but I always feel a bit guilty that he doesn't have a 'bed'. He gets so hot though. Loving all the ideas.

MyGirlDaisy · 22/04/2017 21:59

This - bought from ebay

The sofa, or a thick memory foam dog pad with old, large cushions on top, covered with an old folded sleeping bag. Easy to chuck in the wash and dryer. Her bed is by the radiator in our bedroom so she's snuggly and warm - she's a rescue who was in kennels for four years so I always worry about her being cold! She isn't ever, but it's probably me compensating for all her homeless years.

Mine has a round soft padded bed from tk max with soft raised sides.
She likes the sides, when we had a flat bed she used to curl up in a corner! The soft sides are good because if she wants to stretch out the sides flatten. And at £18 not bad value for money.

Our Labrador has a memory foam bed but prefers to sleep on the bed in the spare room at night. Saying that, there's nothing he likes more than snuggling up beside me and bump! Blush
