My Puppy has been horribly attacked today. So shaken up.

Took my 12 week old cavalier out with DD to the beach this morning. Puppy was on its lead when a dog not on a lead just ran up and attacked it. Just bit hard on its nose and kept shaking and shaking my puppy. I was shouting for the owners to help and trying to get it off but they didn't do anything. I kicked at their dog and lifted by puppy up by his harness but the other dog jumped at me and just kept attacking. They were in their 60s. I got the dog off once and it went for and attacked my dog again. Their dog also bit me.

They wouldn't give me their details which makes me think this dog has done it before. But I got a photo of them and their dog which another dog walker took. They then rushed down to the sea and tried to wash all my dogs blood off their dog .

I was so scared that the dog would also bite my daughter. I feel I should have demanded more details from them. But the man only put the dog on an extendable lead and it was still snapping at us and I felt I just had to get away to protect my daughter as he clearly couldn't control his dog.

My poor puppy it at the vets it has a broken leg and the other dog has bitten right through its palette. I've had a tetanus and the nurse prescribed me antibiotics.

I'm so shaken up and feel so guilty about my poor little puppy. I don't know what I should of done though? I just can't get over a seemingly well to do couple just leaving me on the beach with a bleeding hand, carrying a terrified child and a puppy pouring blood.

Oh thats great news!

JaneEyre70 · 01/04/2017 21:11

Great news. I still cannot understand how they could have walked away. Shocking. So pleased your little pup is doing well, I can imagine he will be even more special to you all now x

Vegansnake · 01/04/2017 21:25

That's an amazing result from the police...that dog needs putting down ,if it's done that once ,it can do it again..

JustSpeakSense · 01/04/2017 21:43

Excellent news that the police have found them, and that your puppy is on the read to recovery.

Would love to see a photo of him when he is back home where he belongs.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 01/04/2017 22:42

Oh god I hope it goes to the local papers and they are named and shamed. No excuse for ignorance and the way they just left you without even an offer of help or an apology is just awful.

shesnotme · 01/04/2017 22:51

Poor pup, you and dd. I hope their dig gets pts abd they get convicted.

hmcAsWas · 02/04/2017 12:09

So pleased that the police have found them. Hope you got your lovely pup home soon - any photos of him? (not being ghoulish - I mean before the incident)

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 03/04/2017 11:53

@PearMice - how is your pup doing today?

Callmegeoff · 03/04/2017 12:14

pearmice de lurking to say we are neighbours. Your story has been all over my fbook news feed, and I have donated.

I really hope they catch the owners - can't quite believe they would act like that 🙁

JasmineBuckles · 03/04/2017 20:08

My dog is dog-aggressive. Not every dog, only certain breeds and types. However, she has perfect recall and is on the lead EVERY time we pass any dog.

We we walking the other day and there wasn't a woman with a pram and two dogs. My dog was already on the lead. She got one dog on the lead, the other she let go of and he went for my dog in an aggressive manner.

I caught him in the jaw with my toe as it was open ready to bite my dog.

Some people shouldn't have dogs, and they especially shouldn't have dog aggressive dogs if they can't keep them on a lead!

MarcoPoloCX · 04/04/2017 11:47

Hope it doesn't affect your puppy too much and it doesn't become fearful or reactive.

ExConstance · 04/04/2017 15:59

So sorry, OP, what utter bastards they were.
I'd second getting some support from a behaviouralist for your dog.
When our old PBGV was not much more than a puppy and had been to puppy classes which encouraged him to be sociable with other dogs he was set upon by a German Shepherd, he was on the lead the GS off it. After this he was always very nervous around strange dogs and barked incessantly ( a bit of a breed characteristic too) even if they were a distance away. Not nice.

MeerkatOnMyWall · 04/04/2017 16:54

Hope pup is doing well OP.

Fingers x'd Police can prosecute the scum buckets. I think the dog owners reaction to this episode tells you everything you need to know about their attitude to owning a dog.

Way too many irresponsible dog owners about today. I don't trust any dog owner that says "Ooh their friendly". You never know.

Cherrypie32 · 04/04/2017 21:37

This awful story also has made my Facebook feed as my friend lives close to you. I'm relieved to see the owners have done the right thing.

fourpawswhite · 05/04/2017 08:11

How is pup doing OP?

Callmegeoff · 05/04/2017 09:44

I don't know if the OP will come back. But according to my newsfeed pup is home and the police have caught up with the elderly owners of the other dog. They have agreed to claim on their dogs insurance to cover the £1000's in vet bills.

PossumInAPearTree · 05/04/2017 09:55

Can't believe they walked away when they had insurance so didn't even have to worry about the vet bill!

hmcAsWas · 05/04/2017 11:06

No news on the elderly owner's dog being destroyed Callmegeoff?

Cherrypie32 · 05/04/2017 12:59

Search this on Facebook and you can see all about him and how he's doing. He has his own page!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 06/04/2017 17:23

I've just had to defend us sensible dog owners on another thread. People are saying all sorts of disgusting things about dog owners in general and tarring us all with the same brush. Someone actually insinuated that we are very quiet when it comes to dog attacks on our own dogs. Really? I don't think so!

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 06/04/2017 17:27

I hope they at least offer to pay all the vets bills. . They should surrender the dog as they obviously can neither control it nor take responsibility for its lack of training and consequential aggression.

Jaxhog · 09/05/2017 20:58

So glad the police have caught up with the other dog's owners. I hope they throw the book at them.

Even happier that your dog is doing well. Fingers crossed for a complete recovery.
