My Puppy has been horribly attacked today. So shaken up.

Took my 12 week old cavalier out with DD to the beach this morning. Puppy was on its lead when a dog not on a lead just ran up and attacked it. Just bit hard on its nose and kept shaking and shaking my puppy. I was shouting for the owners to help and trying to get it off but they didn't do anything. I kicked at their dog and lifted by puppy up by his harness but the other dog jumped at me and just kept attacking. They were in their 60s. I got the dog off once and it went for and attacked my dog again. Their dog also bit me.

They wouldn't give me their details which makes me think this dog has done it before. But I got a photo of them and their dog which another dog walker took. They then rushed down to the sea and tried to wash all my dogs blood off their dog .

I was so scared that the dog would also bite my daughter. I feel I should have demanded more details from them. But the man only put the dog on an extendable lead and it was still snapping at us and I felt I just had to get away to protect my daughter as he clearly couldn't control his dog.

My poor puppy it at the vets it has a broken leg and the other dog has bitten right through its palette. I've had a tetanus and the nurse prescribed me antibiotics.

I'm so shaken up and feel so guilty about my poor little puppy. I don't know what I should of done though? I just can't get over a seemingly well to do couple just leaving me on the beach with a bleeding hand, carrying a terrified child and a puppy pouring blood.

Yes I'd def go back to that beach... they may lay low for a few days, but if you do see them I wouldn't approach, just get their car reg number and hand to Police. They could lie and give you false details. Even make posters up and ask beach front shops/cafes to put them up?

Blackbird82 · 30/03/2017 20:54

Bastards. Look for a private dog walking field for your own piece of mind and safety. There are way too many twatish dog owners these days I'm afraid.

I hope your poor puppy makes a speedy recovery

PearMice · 30/03/2017 20:58

Thank you so much for the messages. I'm so sorry that that this has happened to so many of you too. I will try and post a pic of the dog to see if any of you can identify the breed.

How awful! I would be mortified if my dog did that to anyone!! It probably wasn't the first time if they weren't apologetic! Hope they get found and your pup gets some justice!

Bubble2bubble · 30/03/2017 21:15

This is shocking :(

What absolute arseholes.
So sorry for you and your poor puppy.

Lilly948204 · 30/03/2017 21:17

That is disgusting. My dog was attacked as a tiny puppy and then also as an adult dog. Not as badly as yours, I'm sorry that has happened. These people need to be found and prosecuted.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 30/03/2017 21:20

I'm very sorry, OP. This brings back horrible memories for me as the first family dog my parents got was also a cavalier and was attacked as a puppy when I took her out on my own as a teenager. I was completely traumatised and I have always felt nervous walking my subsequent dogs since that day. I hope your pup makes a quick recovery.

QueenyLaverne · 30/03/2017 21:23

This has absolutely enraged me.

You find these people by any means necessary and you prosecute them to the full extent of the law. Do not feel guilty about their dog when the time comes to press charges, it has done enough damage and could have been your child instead.

I'm not blaming the dog , but ignorant people like this need to be 'educated' on certain matters and sometimes it has to get to this before they learn.

DO NOT STOP until you find them and they are dealt with fully and accordingly.

Fucking, fucking disgusting behaviour.

sparechange · 30/03/2017 21:26

I'm so sorry and am keeping everything crossed that your pup makes a full recovery Flowers

If you want to PM me the photo, I'll take an educated guess at the breed.

You could ask on local community sites if anyone else has had problems with a and pass that info on to the police
It happens a lot on my local fb site...

PearMice · 30/03/2017 21:53

ok here is a pic of the dog. Any help recognising the breed much appreciated. Sorry its not great quality I cropped out the owners.

Oh, OP I'm so sorry. It's so scary but well done for protecting your puppy. I imagine you saved its life.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/03/2017 22:03

What an awful thing to happen, OP!

I think the dog is probably a mongrel/crossbreed. Looks like some sort of collie/terrier cross.

JaneEyre70 · 30/03/2017 22:07

I'd say some sort of terrier cross?

sparechange · 30/03/2017 22:46

It's difficult to tell from the pic but could be a samoyed or samoyed cross
They are only mega fluffy after grooming and more bedraggled in day to day life
It has the ear shape and tail carriage of one, I think

Also looks like a male dog but no way of seeing if it's entire or not

PlayOnWurtz · 30/03/2017 22:51

It's some kind of samoyed/akita breed going by how it's stood and how you describe it. Plus the aggression would fit the breed type too.

PlayOnWurtz · 30/03/2017 22:52

If it's short haired it could be an English bill terrier - it has a long face but the fluffy tail is swaying to an akita type breed

sparechange · 30/03/2017 22:54

play
The chest and neck are wrong for a bull terrier, I think
My guess is samyeod based on the same things as you - tail, ears, head and gait/stance

OP they are quite unusual dogs so it should make it easier to potentially trace

Cocolepew · 30/03/2017 23:04

Oh you poor thing, your poor puppy. I hope he recovers. I hope your DD is ok Flowers
*horrible story below *
A few years ago, at the school gates, a twat of a bloke let a german shepherd off the lead. He had it jumping up at him and biting his arm.
A woman came with a tiny puppy and the GS went for it and tore the pup to pieces, it was absolutely horrific. Workmen passing stopped and managed to get the GS to stop. It then attacked its owner.
I hope those people are found.

honeyroar · 30/03/2017 23:16

Oh you poor thing, and your poor puppy. I hope pup recovers well and you find the shameful thugs with the dog and are able to pursue him.

Floralnomad · 30/03/2017 23:24

Definitely looks like a Samoyed type , might be worth taking the photo round the local vets surgeries and dog groomers to see if anyone can point you in the right direction .

ToffeeChops · 30/03/2017 23:25

This makes my blood boil.

Our daughter's Cockapoo puppy was attacked in the park a few months ago, when she was tiny (puppy, not daughter) and she almost died. She's the sweetest little thing and we wondered if she'd become fear-aggressive, nervous etc but she's still friendly and confident and our daughter has worked really hard to help her be confident around other dogs.

I was so furious after it happened I felt as though I'd like to rip the owner's head off Angry - not that he was ever traced. But I agree with others who have said do everything you can to try and find them, OP.....and I wish you the best of luck with it. Please come back and tell us if you have any more news. Flowers

KindDogsTail · 30/03/2017 23:29

That is an absolutely horrible thing to have happened Flowers I hope the police find the owners. Could you talk to other people who walk on that beach and ask them to look out for them.

Your poor puppy, and you too.

I second what another poster said about seeing a behaviourist because your puppy will have been so terrified he may be badly affected and possibly react aggressively to other dogs in the future, or be very scared.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 30/03/2017 23:31

My first thought was that it might be a Samoyed too.

KindDogsTail · 30/03/2017 23:35

Here are images of samoyeds. The tail seems a bit more curled than the one in your picture, though it looks similar for the most part.

KindDogsTail · 30/03/2017 23:38

I am very sorry, I missed that your little daughter saw it all too. She must be very shaken and distraught too.

Imagine people in their 60s responding that way!
