I'm so sorry. I know exactly how you feel, this was us two years ago. We had a working cocker called Barney. Fantastic little dog, brilliant gun dog and my little shadow. He went downhill very quickly in about two weeks. Stopped eating. Vets said possibly Cushings, etc. Finally decided to scan and it turned out that his liver was mostly tumour. Tried to get him to eat so we could medicate but he'd given up. He kept taking himself off to lay at the bottom of the garden. It was December and freezing. We called the vets in tears on a Sunday morning because we didn't know what to do. They'd seen him two days previously and were shocked at how much he'd deteriorated. We had to let him go, there was nothing else we could do. We both cried all the way home. I wish we could have had the vet come to the house but we didn't know if they'd want to to keep him in on a drip or anything. He was eleven and it was his time. Still hurts now though.

I couldn't be without a dog and a lovely lady on here recommended us a puppy. Two years on and he's absolutely lovely. You never forget your old dog, they're like children, you love them differently but he definitely filled the dog shaped hole in our lives.

Big hugs love. It does get easier. Flowers
