Need to get rid of dog !

We bought a dog 8 months ago where we have tried to train him.... he doesn't listen he still nips and snaps and it's now getting to the point where he is jumping up and going for my toddler and you can hear his jaw snap ! It's scaring me as I can't leave them in the room together he does it to me and my bf he tries to bite his ankles and he's the master so it's in heard of isn't it ? He knows not to go on the couch yet still runs in covered in mud and going on there he's not allowed up stairs but as soon as back is turned he's up there.... we've always told him no and made sure he knows and he does get praised when he's good (which is never ) he chews everything up in site and will just take food of the side and out of my boys hand, I'm currently pregnant and it's getting me so anxious ! He goes on walks everyday so he's excersised a lot. He doesn't listen to me whatso ever and when I play with him he gets aggressive to the point it scares me. Any advice would be helpful ? No nastiness please I'm at by whits end

He's also been neutered and has a crate

Sorry to be harsh but if you could give a bit more info we might be able to help.

What are your reasons for getting a dog? Is it a puppy?

What training is he enrolled in?

How many walks does he get and for how long?

What breed?

Have you ever had a dog?

There will be lots of suggestions. However YOU will need to put the time in. They are like another child (for the next 12 years!)

Crate is good and being 'done'. Well done. However I suspect its a tricky breed. Staffy, husky type I am guessing...

Where did the dog come from? A family set-up? Doesn't sound like a reputable rescue would have let him go to you uf he's that boisterous.

I've had dogs, growing up yes and he's a Staffy. He goes on two long walks a day and I've always trained him praised him when good and told him off when bad he shouldn't be trying to but my baby he's left a mark on his arm once to ! I'm not clueless I'm just not in the right state at the moment we got a dog with good intentions but this one is beyond what we expected I don't want to hear harsh comments I know it's bad but we've tried with him we really have

Your comment about your BF being the dog's 'master' and therefore apparently should be immune to nips would be funny if this weren't all so very sad.

We wanted a family dog and I've had two staffs in the family both really good with kids and calm in trying to keep it together here but I feel bad as it is he's aggressive and it's not good when I have small Ines and one in the way I didn't plan it to be like this

Well yeh I few on the hand but when he's going for his legs it's abut different you can't put your hands near him with out him going for it

You obviously haven't trained him properly, and getting a pup with a toddler and being pregnant is mad to begin with

Get in touch with a responsible rescue today, and give the poor thing a chance of a decent life - and don't get another dog, ever

Husky's are rife at the moment and whilst they are beautiful dogs and so handsome they are not for the faint hearted or for people who are just going on looks alone. I had a tricky dog (sadly departed!) and you need to put in a lot of work. Having a toddler and now having a baby despite having a diffciult dog is what is causing you the issues.

Excuse me costa how rude ? I wasn't pregnant when we got him and we have trained him but he doesn't listen to me he is going for and biting so how is this my fault when I've always told him not to nip and bite there's no need for that I'm good with pets he's just very naughty !

He's 10 months eve had him from very young he's always nipped but it's getting worse even when out walking he runs after other dogs also

Can you get a behaviourist?

From what you've said I think you need to rehome him though.
This dog is not for you and with a baby on the way I don't think it's the best idea to have a dog for a few years at least

I won't be getting another now with having two children soon, but I've looked into things and what's a behaviourist ?

He's only ten months! Of course he's still nippy. You need to work harder at training him, and get some help from a professional to do so.

Rubbish - and I'm afraid I could be a lot ruder - your terminology is awful to start with 'get rid of' Angry

You may not have been pregnant when you got him, but you already had a baby/toddler. You obviously don't like the dog, rehome him responsibly

I suspect this is your first dog. Some people think their friend had a dog, or their parents had a dog many many years so therefore they are experienced!

I love dogs. However if my DH didn't take on the equal care I just wouldn't have a dog.

He listens to my partner more then me kind of just laughs at me if you get me, I've always been the one with him as he works and I don't so I don't get why he never has listened to me

How old is he?
What training have you done with him?
How long is a long walk?
Have you tried obedience classes?
I took my last dog to obedience when I got him. He had been a working dog and was really well trained but we both learnt lots from obedience. I thought I was an experienced dog owner but hadn't realised that sometimes I was giving the dog mixed messages and therefore making it harder for my dog to do what I asked.

I've now got a 11 week old puppy, we have started training early and he can sit, down and stay but still bites peoples toes. But he is learning and training doesn't happen overnight. I know its frustrating but you need to be consistent and patient. Good luck

A behaviourist will watch you with your dog and explain/teach you both how to behave with each other basically.
They will tell you why he's doing certain things-and help you get control of your dog
