Dogs and rain

Do you drag your DDog out in all weathers even if they don't look like they are enjoying it?

Torrential rain all day here and put his jacket on even though he hates it and did a walk where it was obvious he wasn't impressed and almost raced back to the car to finish. I feel guilty not taking him out but after today I am trying to decide whether it was the right choice Confused

We run a dog walking business. YY it's very noticeable that the gun dogs and other working types are far less likely to be bothered by the weather - ie rain - than many of the others. The ones who hated it most of all though were the African dogs - three Basenjis and three Rhodesian Ridgebacks (all from different households) - even though they'd all been bred and brought up in the UK.

My spaniel avoids the wet lawn and puddles.

But swims every day in the canal, the river, the fish pond, and is never knowingly dry.

And he couldn't give a monkeys about the weather if he is out on a WALK. Going for a pee in the garden in the rain has to be accomplished as speedily as possible.

DGreyhound 1 used to love rain, snow, gales, hail, splashing (wallowing) in muddy puddles. Walks was walks. Probably her favourite thing in the world apart from me 😁 .
DG3 is shaping up to be the same.
DGs 2 and 4 like nothing better than a cosy sofa on a wet day, apart from DH.

My dog is convinced that the weather out of the front door will be better, or the weather around the corner, so gives it a good effort. She's given in to heavy rain and the one freak hail storm.

What on earth was said by userxxxx to break guidelines? Hardly a controversial thread Confused

Did you see it Sheman? Maybe it was a wrong thread comment...

HemanOrSheRa · 01/02/2017 08:11

Yes I did see it pickle. It was something about forgetting about doghouses, try putting dogs in the oven to keep them warm. Odd and disturbing. Definitely meant for this thread.

Ew. Nice. There are some weirdos out there...

We are out in all weathers unfortunately and DDogs get more than 2 walks a day but as we live in Scotland and it can rain torrentially for days there isn't much option especially as the older one refuses to do his business in the garden.

Although wet weather walks tend to be done at a much greater speed, the younger one does have a fondness for playing in puddles which is not ideal though.
