Ooh, ooh... Whereabouts in the country are you, very roughly? What a pair of darlings...

CMOTDibbler · 21/01/2017 16:14

I'm in Worcs Picklemepopcorn, but the rescue can homecheck anywhere

Ooh ah. I'm being a bit premature, I think, but I know someone who would love one. They are the image of a dog I had when I was a girl. Will they be strong on a lead, do you think?

CMOTDibbler · 21/01/2017 16:48

Its hard to tell atm as they have never been on leads before so today has been a lot of learning for them

GreenieGables · 21/01/2017 17:02

Awwww, they are lovely. Looks like you have your hands full but must be so rewarding. I'm sure it won't be long until they're snapped up.

What's their story?

CMOTDibbler · 22/01/2017 11:37

Dumped in Ireland.
We've now pretty much got the hang of walking on a lead and slept all night, but house training not so much!

I'm another lurcher lover going all doe eyed over your beautiful pups! What a lovely thing to do- to foster them until they find their forever homes

Bleurghghghgh · 22/01/2017 23:26

Oh my goodness

frumpet · 23/01/2017 10:28

Would anyone mind PMing me about Lurchers , have some, probably really silly, questions as looking to get a rescue one Smile

frumpet · 23/01/2017 10:33

The main one is how much exercise do they generally need ? I know greyhounds don't need a lot , but lurchers are a mix of other breeds arn't they , so does it depend on what is in their breeding or do they revert back to Greyhound genes and spend most of their days on the sofa ?

CMOTDibbler · 23/01/2017 10:44

It does depend a bit - if they are sighthound x collie, then they will probably need more exercise and input than someone like ddog2 who is thought to be doberman x whippet. Then theres ones like ddog1 who is possibly saluki x greyhound (technically a longdog rather than a lurcher, but when all parentage is unknown we go for lurcher) and sleeps more than the cats!

Very happy to answer any questions

Thank you Smile

Phillpot12 · 25/01/2017 20:16

I'm hoping these two gorgeous pups have found lovely new homes to go to....they must have been snapped up. I'm still wishing DH wasn't so unsure....would just love one.

CMOTDibbler · 25/01/2017 20:24

They've got a visitor each on Friday, so hoping they fall in love! Pups are making fab progress, but its hard striking the balance between the reality of puppy ownership and not sounding too doom and gloom

OP posts:
Phillpot12 · 25/01/2017 20:33

Fingers crossed for them. Having 2 must be quite full on...I'm not pushing DH as I know it would be hard work and it would be potentially be my fault when we get the "yikes, what have we done" days! so still considering whether an young adult dog, if we can find one that would suit/rescue to agree, might be a good alternative.

gailforce1 · 28/01/2017 18:38

Just wondering how the visits went CMOT? Hope the pups have wonderful new families to go to.

CMOTDibbler · 28/01/2017 18:51

They only had one visit in the end, and they couldn't decide between them so went away to think about it. I've just spoken to another lady who is coming tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Bless them, they are doing so well - they sit beautifully, walked on their leads into town this morning, are fine with cats and children, and sleep through the night. Housetraining isn't going so well, but is better than it was!

Have your lovely pups found their forever homes yet OP or are you still enjoying puppy cuddles ?

SecretWitch · 31/01/2017 23:25

They are so gorgeous! Hoping they find their loving forever homes very soon ❤️

CMOTDibbler · 01/02/2017 07:39

Ellen has a home (still subject to home check) with an absolutely lovely family. Ethan is still looking, but has someone coming tonight and a lady ringing back this evening to see if they reserve him

That's good news then , we got our boy as a 15/16 week old from Battersea and IME it's the perfect age to get one.

Flippetydip · 01/02/2017 11:08

Wow - this is indeed a coincidence. I came on here to start a new post about recue lurchers.

We all (me, DH, DS aged 8 and DD aged 6) very much want a dog. I had a lurcher when I was younger. I looked at Forever Hounds Trust last night and was very tempted with the idea of another lurcher.

I have a REAM of questions. Can I ask you here or should I start another thread?

Yours are totally adorable by the way!

Super - I will :)

gailforce1 · 02/02/2017 16:03

I should think you caused some pavement jams with people stopping to admire and coo over them when you went into town! Interesting how pups pick up some things quicker than others. Ours took ages with lead walking nicely.
