What type of dog do I have? Help please!

I'm curious to know what people think she looks like/ could be.
We know she's a mutt. But what makes up her component parts?
Some clues:
Approx size of a Cocker Spaniel
Silky feathery fur and very long plumes on her trail.
Obedient and smart.
Good recall.
Low prey instinct
Great retriever
Loves water (and mud)
Gentle but playful
Will walk miles buy happy at home
I think some sorrt of Spaniel for definite, other people think Collie?

I think maybe some Jack Russell in there.

I thought spaniel -terrier cross but the low prey drive would make me wonder....she's lush!

If you're seriously interested, you can buy a kit to find out - no idea how reliable they are though. Google 'dog DNA kit' for options.

Jack Russell....head/eyes and that look....very bright and inquisitive

maybe a bit of lab or goldie in there...her feet look chunky.

She looks a lot like my fathers jack Russell cross collie along with the spaniel.

I read a book recently and in the nicest possible way.... why do you assume that pure breds have come together to produce a 'cross breed' isn't it far more likely that 'random' dogs have bred through the years to produce her mix?

I say that as a the owner of two 'breeds' and one 'mutt'. It honestly hadn't occurred to me that the street dog we rescued probably didn't come from the mix of a pure bred lab and a pure bred collie meeting and having a litter. People who breed dogs are careful to keep the 'lines' intact so it's far more likely that random dogs that have never been selectively bred just met up for a random shag.

Oh what a lovely looking dog! I would say predominantly spaniel and agree terrier X looking at her face. She has the build and stance of our working cocker...in fact the more I look at her she is 3/4 him, with brown added in. Her feet are very cocker-ish.

Thanks for your replies. Think working cocker is a good call and definitely in there somewhere. Who knows what else or how many!
For background, she's 4. Got her at 18 mths from a rescue. She came from the pound in Ireland originally. No history though the rescue speculated on Cavalier/ JR cross. Having had both those breeds I'd say not.
She was a bird chaser, easily trained out. Now she ignores them, though they do get a fright as she swims past! Not bothered by the cat or rabbits (loose in the garden) Happy with other dogs but cowers from big males.
Absolutely fabulous, smart wee dog, we get so many compliments and questions on what she is!

She looks the spitting image of my mum's last dog who sadly died about 10 years ago.
we got Bonnie as a pup so we know her mother was a border collie. We eventually worked out the father must have been a springer. The traits were identical to your list although Bonnie was slightly bigger, more collie sized.

Maybe border collie crossed with cocker to make her a littl smaller.
Apart from that, identical looking. Spookily so.

I think I can see some Dachshund in that face, and the silky feathery fur.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was fully working cocker....certainly from the body shape and head. I've got one too, he's a loon but the best company ever. Mine is a magnet to water, preferably stagnant and is bird obsessed - walks in hedges rather than fields, and loves nothing more than a good roll in fox poo. He's had 3 baths this week .

Looks similar to a friends dog who is a collie cross. They're unsure of the dad but they suspect spaniel. Mum was defo a collie.

This is my Mum's dog Alfie! We get a lot of people asking what breed he is mixed with (besides Miniature Schnauzer) however he's a full Pedigree Not-so-Miniature Schnauzer!! So sometimes full pedigrees can come in various different sizes with slightly different looks?

He/she looks like a King Charles to me?

I think I'm going to have to get DNA done at some point!
She's been clipped this week so no feathering at the moment. Her tail is so long without clipping that it sprays water and mud everywhere and its impossible to keep her clean. Walking with springers today and she's about 2/3rds their size, her body is long and she doesn't have short legs.
