My friend's dog has a "Thundershirt" and it's the business apparently. She basically has the wee one in it last week in Oct and first in November.

I agree. Mine have been fine tonight but last weekend was rough, and I can hear my poor neighbour dogs are struggling.

He was in bed but came downstairs panting, is laying at my feet now.

Poor Ddog hates them. We have the tv on full and a radio on full so there is other noise to drown them out in both sides of the house.
Unfortunately that tends to keep the kids up so it's not ideal either.

Yup- ours is hiding under the bed in our spare room.

Same here we've had fireworks for the last week from asoon as it gets dark to midnight. Our dog has taken to hiding in one of the dc rooms.

Been a nightmare here too. Fireworks since 6pm and still going off. Both dogs distraught, particularly my lovely special needs one who is anxious as the best of times. Every year this happens and it takes weeks to get him settled again. Tried thundershirt on him but didn't help, sadly.

Dreading them starting round here, my dog is really bad with them

My current dog couldn't give a toss about fireworks but my last dog had to be sedated when they got bad. The same with thunder storms too.

Nightmare isn't it? Vets given me Xanax for mine but doesn't seem to be helping at all

You might need that Xanax yourself if your dog is as bad as mine.

I'm on my second glass of wine and I don't usually drink.

Have had Valium for timid dog in the past, think I may need it again this year as it's going to be crazy all this week and next isn't it! I don't think his little brain can take it

Given my girl is so nervous, surprisingly fireworks are one thing she isn't scared of - though she does prefer being outdoors when they go off (think that's to do with knowing where the sound is coming from)

So it's not even dark yet but they've already started. This is going to be a long stressful evening

We shall retire to the pub, it's noisy, so I hope it will drown out the bastarding things.

I ended up having to spend half the night on the floor in the spare room as the dog was too scared to come out from under the sofa bed, and too scared to be on her own. As I'm 25 weeks pregnant this was not a desperately enjoyable experience!! Fucking hate this time of year. The dog is now so stressed she's jumping at even the smallest sound, and won't leave me alone even for a second to pop to the loo.

I put piriton on dogs food and that helps - vet prescribed for skin condition in warm weather but calms him down.

I think they shouldn't be on sale for residential stuff
I think organised displays should have to send information well in advance to local residents
The issue with designated times of year for particular things - I can see July 4th missing from the list plus I don't know what would happen about general parties, weddings etc. I think it would be much more manageable if it was official events only, places that have space. In London they frequently set off car alarms, it's ridiculous. Also so many issues with kids chucking them around.

Pub was empty, so no reason to hang around.
