I think we have found the rescue dog for us, he's a bedlington greyhound - so a scruffy/ shaggy lurcher.
We are trying to choose a "human" name but can't agree on one, all suggestions would be very welcome please.
So far we have
Robbie
Riley,
Dylan,
Lenny
Eddie

Worst thing we be done is to try to find a name that DC and DH & I all like - all the names have 3 out of four likes and one adamant no usually stroppy 11 yr old DD

Ian definitely. I once knew a dog called Ian, used to get the best reactions in the park!

Slight tangent. My friends cat had a litter of kittens. They kept one of the girls and called her Petal. Only on its first vet visit they found out she was a he, so their very un pc, and perhaps racist, father declared him to be called Mr Patel....

I'm loving all (well most of) the suggestions, keep em coming thanks!!
He is already called Barry and we might just keep it.
One of our many nicknames for the (female) cat is Dave, no idea why but we use it a lot so that's out

I daren't load a picture til we've actually got him as I don't dare believe it's happening.
Fingers crossed I'll put one on next week, we're visiting him again tomorrow

We have Eric and my son's friend has a Wilfred.
We'd probably have an Ernie if we had another but I like Douglas, Maurice, Norris, Cyril and Ralphie besides.

Love Barry! Isn't the Irish equivalent Finbar?

Just imagine how it is to shout it...repeatedly. Then chose one you can easily yell over and over until the little bugger decides to come back :-)

The cutest dog I ever knew was an English bull terrier called Stanley. It really suited him!

Barry is great. I was going to suggest Colin.

My favourite dogs name locally is the Staffie who lives near us called Janet GrinGrin

Obviously no use to you OP but I love it so much I felt the need to share!

If he responds to the name Barry then I'd keep Barry - or maybe Gary.

It would confuse him to change his name now wouldn't it?
