Now I have never trained my dog anything like , sit, stay, etc.

But even with my general slackness she seems to know a lot. Stuff she underdstands;

She knows her own name.
She knows the names of her two doggy friends and which is which

Where's piggy is the funniest. It was her first ever toy when we got her as a pup. We used to hide it and then ask 'where's piggy' and she'd find it.
She is now 7, piggy was beyond destroyed many years ago, but still if you say where's piggy she goes off looking!

Our long deceased springer used to understand lots of words, but the best one was 'dance'.

If you said 'dance' she'd jump up on her hind legs and put her front paws into yours. It was very cute.

She'd also howl along to my singing

They hang on my every word.
And ignore my dh!!

I am whistle training her and she recalls to the whistle, but we still in the training part so not sure if she would with lots of distractions or over longer distances.

My dog runs to the fridge when you say cheese and if you don't get there quick enough for her liking she howls loudly like a wolf.

Mine knows a lot but I talk to him allllll the time and we also have sign language. Dogs are so intelligent and I think far surpass humans.

Just realised might need to add that it's me that does the sign language, not him! Although I suppose he does in his own way!

Can we have a 'how many words does your dog CHOOSE to pretend not to know when the mood takes them' thread. For my dog it would be in the hundreds! He always knows 'cheese' though. Funny that.

Serial mine is the same! "Cheese" truly is the magic word. Or "walkies".

My dog has accidentally learned a weird phrase and has decided that it means 'fetch'. The phrase (ahem) is:

'Lorenzo! You're back!'

Long story behind this but we realised that he kept responding to it by bringing his favourite stuffed toy to us so we kept it up to reinforce it. Now he responds to possibly the world's weirdest command.

Mine probably know loads but choose to only recognise 'dinner' and 'walk'. Occasionally they will sit when I ask but I'm not convinced they know this word they just randomly have a guess at tricks I attempted to teach them over the years.

Mine understands 'no' very well.. She heard it so often as a pup! She's a stubborn breed though and I'm finding signing much more effective than words now she's older - so I can call, yell, do whatever and it makes little difference but I'm finding that if I point to where she's supposed to go it's much more affective.. So to get her in the car I just firmly point to the boot and she generally heads off in the right direction but calling her would ensue a stubborn strop!
